Pokémon Ultra Fire Sun — Completed Guide

(Note: this is a ROM hack. I do not own this and will not distribute this hack, but I am the author of this walkthrough — so if you use it, credit me.)

To play Pokémon Ultra Fire Sun you need a clean Pokémon Fire Red ROM (please Google it), a patching utility, and a GBA Emulator (I used VBA). You can also Google a pre-patched ROM.

Unlike the myriad of other walkthroughs I've done for ROM hacks, this one will only focus on the locations of getting Pokémon as well as the teams of trainers. The primary reason is that this hack does not change Kanto or the Sevii Islands in terms of storyline or layout, so your progression through the game will be the same as if you were playing the original Fire Red. Ultra Fire Sun provides a ton of Pokémon up to Gens 1–7, plus fakemon, probably from some other games.

Important Notes

I had to edit this ROM hack in Gen-3 Tools for three things. The first is that Pebblosa, a fakemon, is supposed to evolve at Lv240, which is impossible. I changed it to Lv24. The second is two fakemons, named Mushbushel and Orangutao, which can actually cause softlocks. If you try to view its stats screen, or if you battle a trainer that has a Mushbushel or Orangutao, then the game basically freezes. I managed to mitigate this by changing its ability (its ability was completely null without any info when I looked, I just gave it the ability its base form had and that fixed the issue).

NOTE: There are moves from post-Gen-3 generations, one notable change to one move is Hi Jump Kick, which has an accuracy of 10.

NOTE: Some of the later trainers may not battle upon eyesight. Use the VS. Seeker to challenge them.

GLITCH: The section where you are supposed to battle your rival the second time (after Earth Badge) you would encounter your rival like normal, however if you cross the southernmost trigger tile, you will trigger the first Giovanni battle (from the Rocket Hideout). You can even rematch this battle multiple times for some reason, however if you actually battle the rival by stepping on the other trigger tiles, this Giovanni battle won't repeat anymore.
