Pokemon Prism ROM Hack Detailed Walkthrough by Olivia R.

This is a ROM hack of Pokemon Crystal, and it is in development (has been in development for quite some time, though this had been briefly delayed due to copyright things and such). If you are interested in trying out this hack, go to the RainbowDevs site in order to find Pokemon Prism, and make sure you follow the instructions closely.

You might be wondering why I would make a walkthrough for this hack, considering that there is a TON of community-submitted info about what to expect in the hack already in multiple pieces of documentation. The primary reason comes from the fact that all of that stuff happened around 2020 or so when I first played, and a recent thread on PokeCommunity came out in 2023. So my primary reason for creating this ROM hack detailed walkthrough is to potentially cover anything that is actually new in the most recent update, which as of now is version 0.95.0254. It will hopefully cover anything not covered in the community walkthrough or the wiki pages. This will update in case there's a new update, at least when I can do so.

NEW FEATURES

Pokemon-only locations: There are a small handful of locations that only Pokemon can go in. Namely the starting area has a small cave for the starter to go through, and there's the Laurel Forest. You can only choose the first Pokemon in your party to go through, and depending on the circumstances, you may need a Pokemon with an HM move or a certain type for some puzzles (this also applies to areas that are not Pokemon-only).

Mining: You can buy Mining Picks in Heath Village and Phacelia Town. Use them on any kind of rock wall face to mine for various items, usually Ores, but you can get evolution stones, Heart Scales, Hard Stones, etc. from the rocks. If you find fossils, they will be placed in the Fossil Case (gained in Laurel City) and you need to revive them in the laboratory in Laurel. This involves solving a block puzzle a la Ruins of Alph. The Iron Pickaxe is a Gold Token exchange prize allowing for unlimited mining and it has different modes. You gain Mining experience and levels from repeatedly mining, even if you could not extract anything. The guide will list special mining items that will show up more often in some locations. After some testing, I found out that any possible mining item can spawn from any rock, but I believe that those with "special mining items" will give you those items more frequently.

Jeweling: On Route 77 is the jeweler's workshop. Here you can get the Soot Sack to collect ash, and ash comes from smelting Coal (see below) or by walking around in Firelight Caverns. Collect enough ash and get an evolutionary stone to make elemental rings at the workshop. Early on, you can only craft Grass Rings, but will be able to craft more when you level up.

Smelting: In Rinji's Forest is a house with an underground cave. The lava pit here is used exclusively for smelting. You get the Ore Case from the old man inside, and the Soot Sack is available later on in Route 77. Both are used to store what you smelt from Ores and Coals, the primary items necessary for smelting. You gain Smelting experience and levels from repeatedly smelting Ores and Coals, even if you fail at smelting Ores. Ores become several mineral ores which you can sell to the old man for profit, while Coals are used for collecting ash in the Soot Sack. The Smelter is a Gold Token exchange prize that allows you to use a portable smelter instead of going back to the one in Rinji's Forest, allowing you to build the smelting level faster. You will still have to go to the cave to cash in your ores though.

Crafting: Very late into the game, you will reach Azalea Town in Johto, home of Kurt. While he is retired from crafting, you can use the tools on the right side of his house to craft Poke Balls. All you need is a specific crafting level and the correct apricorn to craft Poke Balls.

Gold Tokens: The primary hidden item in the game are collectables known as Gold Tokens. The walkthrough will show their locations as you go along. You can exchange them for some great items in Spurge City and Laurel City. Look for gold text to spot where the Gold Tokens are.

Seven Treasures: Throughout the game, there are signs that actually have QR codes. These are of course scanned by a scanner which reveals the name of a treasure and a hint to its location. I will list what these QR codes are when you reach them. The QR Scanner is a Gold Token exchange prize that automatically translates the codes, if you prefer that. The treasures will be noted in italics. What they will be used for will be outlined very late into the walkthrough.

Orphanage: In Spurge City there is an orphanage that functions as a rewarding way to release Pokemon. Talk to the owner to receive the Orphan Card and every time you release a Pokemon to the Orphanage as opposed to on the PC, you gain Orphan Points, which vary, possibly by the Pokemon's level and stats.

Pachisi Board: A board game of sorts where you are the piece and you roll the dice 1-6 and land on special tiles for prizes or penalties. Details can be found in [PAC1]. Two of these exist, one is in Torenia City and the other is in Botan City (requires Surf).

Bingo Hall: Phlox Town has a quaint Bingo hall where you can get a card on the table. The card is there to keep track of your game progress, and you can mark green squares that you have done (like if you evolved Larvitar into Tyranitar, that's a Bingo spot). Get a row, column, or diagonal complete and talk to the man at the counter to receive prizes. When you finish one Bingo card completely, talk to the woman to get another one, who has up to three Bingo cards. See if you can nab the ultimate achievements.

Battle Tower and Battle Arcade: Two battle facilities, the Tower functions the same as the one in Crystal and is located in the middle of Naljo, while the Arcade requires a special Ferry Ticket to reach and has scores and tickets (different than Battle Points at the tower). You can battle Tycoons at the tower if your streak is great, while for the Arcade, try to get the best score!

Prism has a very wide selection of character customization options. Pick one you are comfortable with. Start by heading SW (note that you can already run in this game by pressing B), you'll be tasked to get firewood; as you go an avalanche blocks your way back. Enter the cave. Talk to the guy inside who will let you ride the mine cart.

NALJO REGION

ACQUA MINES [ACQU]

Mons found:

Main caves: Shinx, Makuhita, Sentret, Zubat, Abra, Venonat

Special Mining Item: Water Stone

Head north to find your starter, Larvitar. Keep going and then you will fight a wild Pokemon. Afterwards, the menu is now accessible. Descend the ladder and go to the raised section for a Potion. If you head off the plateau and go a bit SE, you can inspect the ground at the intersection for your first Gold Token. Keep going and you'll see another Larvitar, who flees into a tiny cave. Inspect it and send your own Larvitar in. This is one of Prism's main selling points, as you can play as Larvitar in a small cave. There are still wild encounters down here though. The "rocks" here are soil that you can destroy. Go east to find the other Larvitar, who will give you a Soft Sand (will be automatically held by Larvitar in this case). Head south, devouring soil and finding a button. Press it and return to your trainer. Drop into the south hole next. Talk to the man here to get an Oran Berry (note: the rocks around this area can be mined with a Mining Pick, remember this for later), then leave.

CAPER RIDGE [CAPE] - The town that's always under a white blanket

Mons found: Tentacool (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing), Milotic (fishing with Super Rod), Goldeen (fishing with Good Rod), Magikarp (fishing with Old or Good Rods)

Special Mining Item: Icy Rock

Poke Ball: P200 | Potion: P100 | Antidote: P100 | Escape Rope: P550 | Repel: P350

Go east of the PokeCenter and into Prof. Ilk's laboratory. Talk to the guy. He lets you have his Larvitar and to check on his brother in the north route, who hasn't called him in a while. Before going, you might want to go to the PokeMart, not just to check out some wares, but also there's a Gold Token on the middle shelf to the right of the clerk.

ROUTE 70 [RT70]

Mons found: Sentret, Caterpie, Metapod, Paras, Pidgey (morning and day only), Ralts (night only), Zubat (night only), Tentacool (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing), Milotic (fishing with Super Rod), Goldeen (fishing with Good Rod), Magikarp (fishing with Old or Good Rods)

Special Mining Item: Icy Rock

You'll find two Repels on the west side. Inspect the rock NE of where the Repels are and at its SE side is a Gold Token. An Antidote is next to a gate and a cave. The cave is the International Tunnel.

Mons found (long tunnel section only): Zubat, Geodude, Whismur, Machop

If you go through the long walk, you enter a 2D platforming section of sorts, but cannot go far because a guard requests a Rijon Pass. Enter the gatehouse and the guard will let you through and give you the Town Map. In this gatehouse, get the Gold Token at the NE side of the north counter. Enter Route 69. No Pokemon data yet, just head up to the house, getting a Potion as you do. Enter the house and then talk to the thief to battle.

???: P300

Bagon Lv5, Rage, Leer

Afterwards you can name the rival. Default name is Bronze if you don't want to give him a name. Return to Ilk to receive the Pokedex. By this point, you can head east.

ROUTE 71 (west) [R71W]

Mons found: Snorunt, Taillow, Spearow, Ralts, Pidgey (morning and day only), Metapod (night)

Bug Catcher Gary: Volbeat Lv3, Illumise Lv3, P48

Hiker Jerry: Sentret: Sentret Lv5, P160

The berry tree has Oran Berries. West of there, inspect the NW corner for a Gold Token. In the guardhouse, talk to the man on the left to receive 5 Poke Balls (he also tells you that he hopes to see you complete the dex). You can go north to Route 71 as well as east to a small section of Clathrite Tunnel. Go down there to catch some mons and get TM09 Hail.

Mons found: Snorunt, Zubat, Bronzor, Marill, Swinub, Sneasel

ROUTE 72 [RT72]

Mons found: Marill, Lotad, Pidgey, Spinarak, Metapod, Taillow (morning and day only), Zubat (night only), Goldeen (surf and fishing with Good Rod), Tentacool (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing), Magikarp (fishing with Old or Good Rods), Milotic (fishing with Super Rod)

IMPORTANT: You need 20 Brick Pieces for a plot-relevant quest later on. 20 of these at the mart cost P1000. Store them in the PC for now.

The Happiness Checker is at the east end. She grades your lead Pokemon's happiness from 0-255. If it is 49 or below you will receive TM21 Frustration, and if it is full at 255 you will receive TM27 Return. A Gold Token is in one of the plants at the west side of her home.

A sign near the north gatehouse has a QR code. If you scan it, it will say "Ruby Egg - Haunted Forest Entrance." The Salon is at the NW, and you can change your trainer's appearance at any time for P1000, all options available including model (can even change gender), skin tone, and outfit.

The NE end has the Rookie Trainer Hall and the gym is in the center. Enter the hall first for some additional trainer battles. Enter and take the door to an area resembling underground areas of the original Legend of Zelda. Get the Stick down here. On the other side, take the NE door back underground, then east again to the other side. Leave and head north to get TM53 Whirlwind on a small section of Route 73 (you could go on Route 73 earlier but there will be someone in the way on the steps). Head back and battle trainers.

Pokemaniac Denji: Mareep Lv7, P420

Bug Catcher Max: Pineco Lv10, P160

Juggler James: Pineco Lv10, Bronzor Lv11, Koffing Lv10, Chingling Lv11, P440

Before entering the cave, on the shore after the bridge, go east and north to the dead end, which has a hidden Gold Token. This area is Mound Cave, and there are two entrances. Go towards the second one to the north and go east for two Repels. You cannot go further in the next route.

MOUND CAVE [MOUN]

Mons found:

1F: Geodude, Zubat, Gligar, Shinx, Paras, Slowpoke, Vulpix, Goldeen (surf)

B2F and B3F: Geodude, Zubat, Paras, Sneasel, Bronzor, Koffing, Eevee

Upper Cave: Geodude, Zubat, Gligar, Paras, Vulpix, Bronzor, Magikarp (surf), Goldeen (surf)

Fishing encounters: Magikarp (OR/GR), Goldeen (all), Tentacool (GR/SR), Relicanth (GR/SR)

Special Mining Item: Gold Dust

The first cave leads to 1F and the second cave leads to Upper Cave. Enter Upper Cave to first pick up TM31 Mud Slap. The other cave here leads to Route 69, but you cannot proceed without Cut. Enter the main cave and battle your rival.

(rival): P840

Paras Lv13, Fury Cutter, Cut

Sneasel Lv12, Icy Wind, Cut

Bagon Lv14, Headbutt, Leer, Bite

(movesets were taken from wiki, but the levels and pay were different, if the movesets are also different let me know)

Before proceeding, you will need both a Fire type and an Electric type with you. A move will be fine, but a Pokemon will work as well. The only Electric type option is Mareep on the previous route or Shinx inside the caves, while for Fire you can get Vulpix here and on previous routes, plus the Cyndaquil from the Training Hall or Growlithe if you got that. Note that the only one you actually need is the Fire type, but because the lower floors of Mound Cave are dark, and you don't have the HM for Flash, you will certainly want an Electric type for the gimmick later.

Head all the way south in 1F until you find two ladders. Take the one going up. You'll first find a Super Potion. Keep going to get a Mining Pick, which you can use on rocks in this area and others to get items. Doing this will also increase your Mining experience. Go to the NE ladder and on the next floor, talk to the man who needs 5 sticks of Dynamite. This is where we need to head to the lower floors at this point, so return to the first floor and take the ladder going down.

The 2D section that follows is straightforward, with a Moon Stone at a small detour. On the other side it is dark, but you can see a yellow stream with a generator tied to it. Use your Electric type on that generator to light the place up and get the Escape Rope. The light stays on as long as you are on this floor. Go southwest, south, and east to encounter a Palette Patroller.

Palette Black: P1008

Houndour Lv13, Ember, Leer, Spite, Pursuit

Shuppet Lv13, Astonish, Foresight, Spite, Night Shade

Eevee Lv14, Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Sand Attack

Afterwards, get the first Dynamite. The other four sticks of Dynamite are also guarded by Palette Patrollers. Go all the way to the NW to get the next one, avoiding the large pit.

Palette Yellow: P1008

Elekid Lv13, Karate Chop, Leer, Seismic Toss, Thundershock

Makuhita Lv13, Doubleslap, Sand Attack, Reversal

Eevee Lv14, Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Sand Attack

After getting the second stick, go south of the large pit and east at the fork. Hop into the pit to find the next Palette Patroller.

Palette Blue: P1008

Zubat Lv12, Astonish, Supersonic, Leech Life

Tentacool Lv13, Bubble, Supersonic, Poison Sting

Eevee Lv14, Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Sand Attack

Pick up the third Dynamite and light the floor up. There are two sticks of Dynamite on this floor. Go SE first to find a Palette Patroller.

Palette Green: P1080

Natu Lv12, Twister, Leer

Larvitar Lv13, Scratch, Leer, Mud Slap, Rock Throw

Eevee Lv15, Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Sand Attack

Take the ladder and find the fourth stick of Dynamite, then backtrack and for the last stick, you need to go all the way to the NW.

Palette Pink: P1008

Whismur Lv13, Astonish, Laughing Gas, Roar

Porygon Lv13, Tackle, Agility, Conversion, Pain Split

Eevee Lv14, Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Sand Attack

Get the last stick, but before you go back to the guy, you could go to the SW part of this area to find a mine cart. This can take you to Acqua Mines, Clathrite Tunnel, or Firelight Caverns. The first two you have been to, where you just return to Acqua Mines' starting area, and there's nowhere to actually go in Clathrite Tunnel for now. In Firelight Caverns, you can get the new ConfuseGuard held item which can prevent confusion, but there are no mons on the floor.

Return to the man who asked for the dynamite. Now you need to light the dynamite, which is where your Fire type comes in. After the explosions, you can head west now, but backtrack one floor and go to the NW part of the maze to find TM17 Protect.

SPURGE CITY [SPUR] - The city where anything can happen!

Special Mining Item: Coal

Lots of things here.

The Orphanage has a woman who gives you an Orphan Card. You can then trade Orphan points from releasing mons to the Orphanage to get new mons. Each time you release a mon to the Orphanage you will also get free heals.

Chikorita: 100 points | Eevee: 250 points | Togepi: 500 points | Riolu: 1000 points

This is the only place to get all of these mons except Eevee, which is both a 1% encounter in Mound Cave's lower floors as well as a casino prize in this city. The PokeMart is essentially a one-floor department store.

Gold Token Exchange Counter (middle):

Old Rod: 2 tokens | Leftovers: 2 tokens | Time Machine: 5 tokens

Left counter:

Potion: P300 | Super Potion: P700 | Antidote: P100 | Burn Heal: P250 | Ice Heal: P250 | Awakening: P250 | ParalyzeHeal: P200 | Moomoo Milk: P900

NW counter:

X Attack: P500 | X Defend: P550 | X Speed: P350 | X Sp. Atk: P350 | X Sp. Def: P350 | X Accuracy: P950 | Guard Spec.: P700 | Dire Hit: P650

East of the NW counter is the ATM, where you can set up a direct deposit, meaning 25% of earnings from battles will go here. This is a similar mechanic to sending money to mom in the mainline Gen-2 games.

Food court (both clerks sell the same food):

Burger: P500 | Fries: P250 | Soda Pop: P300 | Lemonade: P350

SE counter:

Poke Ball: P200 | Great Ball: P600 | Escape Rope: P550 | Repel: P350 | Poke Doll: P1000

At the east end of town behind the casino is a QR Code with the clue "Crystal Egg - Silk Tunnel's First Floor" as well as a man who gives you TM39 Swift. The gym is closed. Go into the apartment complex next to the casino and enter apartment 2-D. The man here gives you TM67 Tri Attack, which in this game has the unique Tri type. Enter the casino and talk to the first guy you see on the right. Pay P1000 to get the Coin Case. There's new games here, including Video Poker, Card Memory, Blackjack, as well as the classic card and slot games.

Right counter left clerk:

Kangaskhan: 1000 coins | Eevee: 3000 coins | Porygon: 5000 coins

Right counter right clerk:

TM33 Ice Punch, TM41 Thunder Punch, TM48 Fire Punch: 3000 coins

Left clerk:

50 coins: P1000 | 500 coins: P10000

Head north when you're ready.

ROUTE 74 [RT74]

Mons found: Taillow, Growlithe, Buneary, Cacnea, Natu (morning and day), Pidgey (morning), Caterpie (day and night), Metapod (morning), Yanma (day and night), Mareep (night)

Special Mining Item: Gold Dust

A small section of the ground not covered by grass (in front of the first Pokefan) has a Gold Token. TM12 Sweet Scent is to the north.

Sailor Lionel: Tentacool Lv13, Wailmer Lv13, Lotad Lv14, P560

Psychic Teller: Abra Lv14, Kadabra Lv15, P480

Pokefan Jessica: Jigglypuff Lv17, P1360

Pokefan Spencer: Pikachu Lv16, P1280

Head west on the land bridge (this area is actually brand new in the newest Prism update, but it's just an extension of the route) and in the gatehouse is the red Palette Patroller.

Palette Red: P1224

Growlithe Lv15, Double Kick, Ember, Leer, Roar

Goldeen Lv16, Water Gun, Rain Dance, Supersonic

Eevee Lv17, Quick Attack, Growth, Sand Attack

After the battle the guard gives you HM01 Cut. The next gym is the one that allows the use of it, and we are heading that way.

HEATH VILLAGE [HEAT] - Holds rich traditions

Mons found: Tangela, Scyther, Tentacool (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing), Milotic (fishing with Super Rod), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with GR)

(there's grass at the north end of the village, but it's not accessible until you have Surf)

Special Mining Item: Leaf Stone

The gym is south of the gatehouse, but we're exploring the rest of the village first. The north house here is home to the inn (P100) and a traditional mart. This is one of the few places you can buy Mining Picks, which if you use on rocks will give you items and increase your mining level.

Mining Pick: P500 | Poke Ball: P200 | Great Ball: P600 | Potion: P300 | Super Potion: P700 | Antidote: P100 | Escape Rope: P550 | Repel: P350

A man near the west house will give you a Bicycle (assuming you have walked a lot, which you probably have already). Go inside that house to get TM35 Sleep Talk from the sleeping man. Let's detour south towards Route 69 to do some more training before entering the gym.

ROUTE 69 [RT69]

Mons found: Abra, Spearow, Snorunt (morning only), Luxio (morning only), Pidgey (morning and day only), Jigglypuff (morning and day only), Sentret (morning and day only), Buneary (day and night only), Ralts (night only), Spinarak (night only), Tentacool (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing with GR/SR), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing)

Special Mining Item: Icy Rock

This route has changed significantly from old versions and has a whole lot more water. The gatehouse has a PC. The section after the gatehouse represents the older version of this route. The only thing you can get for now is TM49 Fury Cutter.

Cooltrainer Carla: Marill Lv14, Chinchou Lv15, Marill Lv15, P720

Hiker Harry: Geodude Lv15, Onix Lv16, Machop Lv15, P512

Hiker Larry: Geodude Lv15, Gligar Lv16, Onix Lv16, P512

Hiker Neil: Geodude Lv18, Aron Lv19, P608

Return to Heath and enter the gym south of the east gatehouse. This Grass gym doubles as a forest with wild encounters.

Mons found: Bellsprout, Venonat, Caterpie, Cacnea, Yanma, Volbeat (night only), Illumise (night only), Goldeen (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing), Feebas (fishing with GR/SR)

You can find a Gold Token before getting to any of the trainers. Head north of the lake and inspect the dead end to find it.

Twins Emy&Mary: Bellsprout Lv14, Butterfree Lv15, P300

The building here is home to Pokemon Prism's Smelting Plant. Go down and talk to the old man to receive the Ore Case. The lava pit here is where you will smelt Ores or Coals, which you get from mining with Mining Picks. You will come back here to increase your Smelting level.

Beauty Veronica: Cacnea Lv15, Shroomish Lv16, Tangela Lv17, P1496

Youngster Rocky: Chikorita Lv16, Bellsprout Lv16, Tangela Lv17, P272

Ivysaur Lv21, Cut, Razor Leaf, Poisonpowder, Leech Seed

With Cut, let's finish up Route 69's south section. There's a Nugget here, and the Cut trees lead back to Mound Cave's upper section and the route going to Caper Ridge again.

Blackbelt Akira: Machoke Lv18, P432

Cooltrainer Peter: Kadabra Lv18, P864

Return to Route 74 and then cut the tree to access Route 75.

Special Mining Item: Coal

After the bridge, look towards the thin pond and at the easternmost end is a hidden Gold Token. Another hidden item is to the east, the Sapphire Egg. Find it by going near the bird keeper near the gatehouse and inspecting the tall grass to the east. This key item's use will come into play a lot later.

Schoolboy Travis: Swellow Lv16, P512

Beauty Michelle: Volbeat Lv17, Wigglytuff Lv17, P1496

LAUREL CITY [LAUR] - The City of Royalty

Mons found: Goldeen (surf and fishing with GR), Magikarp (fishing with OR/GR), Feebas (fishing), Milotic (fishing with SR)

Special Mining Item: Water Stone

Left clerk:

Poke Ball: P200 | Great Ball: P600 | Potion: P300 | Super Potion: P700 | Antidote: P100 | ParalyzeHeal: P200 | Awakening: P250 | Burn Heal: P250 | Ice Heal: P250 | Revive: P1500

Go east of the gatehouse and in the flowers there will be a Gold Token, somewhere near the SE side. The Name Rater is south of the gatehouse. The house NE of the gatehouse has a stick collector who gives you a free Stick. The lab allows you to revive fossils, but you actually need a Fossil Case to put your fossils in. One of the scientists gives you one for free. In order to get fossil Pokemon, you have to get fossils by mining. The Magikarp Caverns are closed until you can beat the Fairy gym here. Get TM16 Icy Wind on the other side of the lake and head to the NW to find the gym.

Cheerleader Khloe: Marill Lv18, Mawile Lv19, P380

Cheerleader Nicole: Jigglypuff Lv19, Ralts Lv19, Togetic Lv20, P400

You can battle these trainers now or save for later. The gym leader will not battle until you find her lost Totodile, where it is in the next forest down.

ROUTE 76 [RT76]

Mons found: Paras, Spearow, Luxio, Pikachu, Teddiursa

Two Great Balls immediately to the east. A Gold Token hides in the wall of the gatehouse (inspect the wall two tiles to the right of the door).

Psychic Penn: Lunatone Lv19, P608

Twins Liz&Lily: Volbeat Lv19, Illumise Lv19, P380

LAUREL FOREST [LAUF]

Mons found: Shroomish, Pikachu, Pidgey, Paras, Exeggcute, Vulpix, Goldeen (surf), Feebas (surf and fish with GR/SR), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing)

(more Pokemon can be found in the Pokemon-only area, however I will not list them here because you cannot catch Pokemon when playing as a Pokemon)

Note: You can evolve Eevee into Leafeon by leveling it up while in this area.

You can't go south yet, so head east and enter the rest house. Here is a PC and a granny who will heal you. There's also a Gold Token in the middle of the table. You are about to enter the Pokemon-only section, and by talking to the Clefairy, you will have to send the first Pokemon in your party inside. Pick a strong Pokemon to enter.

First go east to the first intersection and head SE. There is an Oran Berry tree immediately to the east. If you head north from the first intersection, you will find a white floor with a Butterfree. This Lv20 Butterfree will join you as she is missing her Caterpie. Return to the first intersection and head east all the way to find the Caterpie. Doing this will award you a Curo Shard. You will need two more of these for later (note: You can also talk to the Caterpie first to have him join instead, and send him to the Butterfree and get the Curo Shard that way).

Head east of where you found Caterpie and go south towards a new entrance, which leads to the beach area. Another Oran Berry tree is here. There's also a machine here. Talk to the Wartortle to battle him if you wish, but this is optional (Lv22). The Xatu here mentions the four Curo Shards and the scientists who are trying to take them. The machine has a switch, which changes the shoreline and allows you to get the item, which is a Giant Rock. You will need to press the switch again, since you are blocked off and don't currently have Surf.

Leave the separate beach area and head east to another one. This has a Pikachu who wants to eat Burnt Berries. This is where you have two options. The first is to head towards the north end of the forest, where the white intersection there has a burnt stump. With the Oran Berries collected from the forest, and if your chosen Pokemon is a Fire type or has a Fire type move, you will create a Burnt Berry. The second method can happen if you send a Pikachu of your own and talk to the Pikachu. This Pikachu will then join you and if you find a berry tree, you will both eat at the roots. Regardless of which method you choose to feed the Pikachu, you will get the Curo Shard.

Explore the next beach to the north. There's a Charmander who wants to head back home, but there is water in the way. The Giant Rock you got from the beach will suffice, but you need a second one. Proceed west from this beach, and to the north intersection (this is the stump, if your Pokemon knows Cut you can also take a shortcut to this location). Head north and west to find a maze section.

Here, the next Curo Shard is available near the west side of the maze, and the second Giant Rock is to the south. Return to the Charmander to get the second rock in. This causes the water to drain. Follow the Charmander into the cave to the north. The Charmander is to the east and his Charizard parents are to the north. Talk to the one on the right and the boulder to the north will be removed. Head that way (you will need to return here for the other boulder with a Pokemon that knows Rock Smash).

On the lower floor, press the first three switches, then when you get to two switches, press the second one to the left, creating a hole, but do not go down yet. Head south, east, and then get the Curo Shard. Take the hole back and leave the den.

Head NW, then NE to find a Charizard. If you have at least three of the four Curo Shards, you will cure this Charizard of brainwashing. However, if you don't, you will be forced to fight it at Lv65. You will not be able to actually win, though if you do by cheating the game can continue without curing the Charizard. Head into the laboratory now.

Scientist No. 13: Kadabra Lv16, Koffing Lv17

Scientist No. 07: Ditto Lv20

After the scientists, the Totodile is in the NW corner. You will automatically leave and Brooklyn will get her Totodile back. Now you will be able to challenge the Laurel Gym. If you have not challenged the trainers yet, their info is in the previous section. Here is Brooklyn's info.

Leader Brooklyn: P2400, Charm Badge, and TM45 Attract

Jigglypuff Lv21, Pound, Double Slap, Sing, Defense Curl

Marill Lv22, Bubblebeam, Iron Tail, Tail Whip, Defense Curl

Wigglytuff Lv24, Rollout, Pound, Double Slap, Defense Curl

Leave and the Totodile will decide to join your party to get away from Brooklyn. Magikarp Caverns is now open. Head there now.

MAGIKARP CAVERNS [MAGI]

Follow the linear path all the way to the center. As you do, there will be a man to the north who will not let you through the cave at the moment, but remember this for later. Once in the middle, head north first for a Hard Stone. Talk to the man to start the Magikarp trial. I have taken the solution from Rijon Wiki here:

Right, Left (get four Water Stones), Right, Down, Left, Left, Left, Down, Down, Down, Left, Up, Up, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, Down, Up (get Mystic Water), Left (onto Mystic Water Tile), Down, Down, Down, Left, Up, Up, Up, Up, Down, Left, Down, Right, Down, Right, Down, Right, Left, Right, Left and you are done.

Return to Laurel Forest now and head south, following the path.

Bug Catcher Lenny: Butterfree Lv23, Yanma Lv25, Venonat Lv26, P416

Bug Catcher Carl: Surskit Lv24, Masquerain Lv25, P400

TORENIA CITY [TORE] - The region's youngest city!

Great Ball: P600 | Super Potion: P700 | ParalyzeHeal: P200 | Awakening: P250 | Antidote: P100 | Super Repel: P500 | Escape Rope: P550 | Revive: P1500

Immediately take the NE path for a Rare Candy. A man east of the PokeCenter wants to trade a Drifloon if you have Exeggcute; this is the only way to get Drifloon in the game. Route 83 is to the west (this is now open), Route 82 is to the east (need Surf), and the Magnet Train is to the north. You actually need a Magnet Pass to travel to Johto or Kanto, but Rijon is available right now, and necessary later on. One of the shelves in the PokeMart has a Gold Token. A Cheri Berry tree is to the SE (need Cut), as is the gym, but you cannot challenge Edison as he yearns for dreaming again. The Pachisi Hall is in the middle. The house next door has a celebrity who gives you a ShnyApricorn. Finally, there's a PP Up at the SW end (need Cut).

PACHISI BOARD [PAC1]

Tiles:

Checker: Start and finish | Plain green: no effect | Diamond: warp tile | Arrow: moves you 1-6 tiles forward or backward | First aid kit: healing tile | P sign: gain money | Muncher: lose money | Poke Ball: item | Dice: gain more rolls | Skull: end game | Grass tile: wild encounter (Pidgeotto, Luxio, Vulpix, Growlithe, Taillow, Exeggcute, Weepinbell, Scyther, Paras, Absol) | Rock tile: wild encounter (Geodude, Onix, Zubat, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Torkoal, Vulpix) | Water tile: wild encounter (Lotad, Lombre, Magikarp, Gyarados, Tentacool, Goldeen, Surskit, Slowpoke) | ? block: any of the above

It costs P2000 to play. If you make it to the end, you can get a Shiny Ball. The items you get from Poke Ball tiles will vary, usually common items but you might get Sacred Ash or Gold Dust as well. When you had fun, let's explore a little of the other routes. You can only fish if you go on Route 82 to the east, since we don't have surf. Let's check out Route 83 to the west now.

ROUTE 83 [RT83]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Spinarak, Paras, Electrike, Abra, Chingling, Goldeen (surf and fishing), Tentacool (surf and fishing with GR/SR), Feebas (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Seaking (fish with SR)

Special mining item: Damp Rock

Schoolboy Jason: Tangela Lv26, P832

Get the Poison Barb near the rock and inspect the SW part of the rock for a Gold Token. You can now access the other side back to Mound Cave as well. Now head south of Torenia to Route 77, where we can cover the north end of the route.

ROUTE 77 (north) [R77N]

Mons found: Shinx, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Buneary, Electrike, Lombre, Eevee (morning only), Butterfree (day and night only), Tentacool (surf and fishing with GR/SR), Goldeen (surf and fishing), Magikarp (fishing), Seaking (fishing with SR)

Special mining item: Gold Dust

Get the Hyper Potion to the west. The sign has a QR code reading "Gold Egg - House west of Hayward Mart". South of there is the Leppa Berry tree. The jeweler workshop is up ahead, get the Soot Sack from the NE person. This is necessary to collect ash, which you can get by either smelting Coal in the smelting area in Rinji's Forest or by walking in Firelight Caverns later on. Here you can increase your jeweling level by collecting ash. The rings you create are held items that boost one stat while lowering a different one.

Grass Ring: 25 grams of ash and a Leaf Stone

Fire Ring: 25 grams of ash, a Fire Stone, and Jeweling level 4

Water Ring: 50 grams of ash, a Water Stone, and Jeweling level 8

Thunder Ring: 50 grams of ash, a Thunderstone, and Jeweling level 12

Shiny Ring: 75 grams of ash, a Shiny Stone, and Jeweling level 17

The guard will not let you through unless you have the fourth badge. Return to Torenia and take the Magnet Train to the Rijon region.

BOTAN CITY [BOTA] - The city of nostalgia

Mons found: Magikarp (fishing), Goldeen (fishing), Tentacool (fishing with GR/SR), Seaking (fishing with SR)

Great Ball: P600 | Super Potion: P700 | ParalyzeHeal: P200 | Awakening: P250 | Super Repel: P500 | Escape Rope: P550

There is no PokeCenter here. The city is under quarantine, so you are unable to go to other locations in Rijon right now. A QR code sign here reads "Sapphire Egg - Route 75 small grass patch" but if you followed the walkthrough, you found it already. North of that sign are eight bushes. Inspect the NW bush for a Gold Token. The only place to go is north. Enter the gatehouse, and, if you remember the QR code hint from Oxalis City, it mentioned the Ruby Egg is in the Haunted Forest entrance. Specifically, inspect the NE corner of the gatehouse to find the Ruby Egg. Now head west to enter the Haunted Forest.

HAUNTED FOREST [HAUF]

Mons found: Gastly, Haunter (night only), Misdreavus (morning and day only), Zubat, Golbat, Shuppet

Eevee can evolve into Leafeon if leveled up here.

Head west and north to the first graveyard. Touch the red gravestone here and leave.

Sage Genjo: Gastly Lv21, Shuppet Lv21, Haunter Lv22, P704

To the east is a graveyard with a brown and a blue gravestone. Ignore these and head south to find TM05 Night Shade. Go north and east to a different graveyard now.

Medium Chieko: Duskull Lv22, Duskull Lv23, Shuppet Lv23, P920

Touch the gray gravestone here, then return to the graveyard with the brown and blue gravestones. Touch the blue gravestone, but not the brown one just yet. Follow the road north and west.

Sage Minoru: Duskull Lv22, Haunter Lv23, Shuppet Lv22, P736

Go west and south to pick up a Stardust, then go to the Haunted Mansion entrance. There's a yellow gravestone here. Touch it, then return to the SE graveyard with the brown and blue gravestones, touching the brown one this time. Now go to the NE graveyard and touch the teal gravestone. You will receive the Mansion Key. Now enter the mansion.

HAUNTED MANSION [HAUM]

Mons found: Gastly, Haunter, Misdreavus, Sableye, Shuppet

The redhead in the entrance actually gives the hint to the gravestone puzzle earlier: red, grey, blue, yellow, brown, and teal, in case you forgot. The Mansion Key opens the door here.

Medium Chika: Duskull Lv24, Haunter Lv25, P1000

The items here are a Reaper Cloth and a Rare Candy. Visit the east room for a Spell Tag, then go to the dining hall to the west.

Sage Daikoku: Sableye Lv26, P832

Here there is a chest which contains a Bedroom Key. We now need to go upstairs to find a second key. Note that the SW stairs in the dining hall is blocked, and you need to have challenged the Pokemon League to unlock this area. Return to the main room and take either set of steps up. Upstairs, get two Super Repels and explore the west and east rooms to find TM42 Dream Eater in the west room as well as a trainer and the second Bedroom Key in the east room.

Medium Izunami: Spiritomb Lv25, P1000

Speak to the Gengar to enter a dream dimension. Walk the colored paths until you find someone who looks exactly like you. You will teleport into a town section. You can't enter any buildings and some tiles you cannot walk on. Go to the SW and talk to the "Palette Patroller". After the conversation, you will be in the bedroom again. Leave the mansion and Botan City altogether, returning to Naljo. Your sidequest in Rijon will allow you to now challenge Edison at Torenia Gym.

Leader Edison: P3000, Midnight Badge, and TM51 Dark Pulse

Houndour Lv26, Bite, Ember, Roar, Smog

Sneasel Lv28, Feint Attack, Metal Claw, Agility, Quick Attack

Umbreon Lv30, Feint Attack, Confuse Ray, Screech, Substitute

Return to Route 77 and talk to the guard, who now mentions there's an earthquake and he still won't let you pass. Instead, he asks for a specific expert to help with the issues here. That person is actually Prof. Ilk. The guard gives you HM02 Fly, which you can now use because you have the fourth badge.

Fly back to Caper Ridge and talk to Ilk, who explains that there have been other earthquakes, including the one that started your journey. Afterwards, return to Route 77.

ROUTE 77 (south) [R77S]

You will find the Day Care here, which is useful for breeding and raising.

Now drop down and go until you find a red wall. The switch to the west opens the wall. The next sign says SIC PARVIS MAGNA (greatness from small beginnings). A Razor Claw is the next item to get. After flipping the brown switch, you must fall to the west, then flip the yellow, green, and yellow again to access the east ladder heading back up. Go through this path and you'll be at another sidescrolling section.

Pull the red switch, and the red switch after it. Go past the sign saying INVICTVS MANEO (I remain unvanquished) and battle the next Palette Patroller.

Palette Black: P2160

Ignore the green switch and use the yellow switch, followed by the brown switch to the east. Return to the last red switch you used, head down, then east. Use the next red switch you come to, followed by the brown switch to the east. Go down to the sign saying SEMPER FORTIS (always courageous) and then get the Jumping Shoes. The switches will reset, but you can hop the 1-tile gap back to the sign by pressing A at the edge with the Jumping Shoes. PHACELIA TOWN [PHAC] - Not quite a town yet

Mining Pick: P500 | Ultra Ball: P1200 | Great Ball: P600 | Hyper Potion: P1200 | Super Potion: P700 | Super Repel: P500

You will immediately be taken to police HQ and get a Palette Patroller suit as a disguise. This means you cannot actually use Fly, enter the Phacelia gym, or enter the catacombs, as we have a mission to do. Exploring the town, you can find an Aspear Berry tree to the north. This is another town where you can buy Mining Picks. You can get TM20 Endure in the east house. The Move Deleter is near the west cave, and to the south is a trainer who will trade her Lunatone if you have Solrock (1% encounter in the sidescrolling sections of Milos Catacombs). Your mission from the police officer states that the Palette Patroller you must catch is on Route 85, which is through the east cave. Go there now.

Pluck a Sitrus Berry from the tree and talk to Palette Black, who will follow you. Back at the west side of the map is an officer, who will take the Palette Patroller into custody. Back at the station, you lose the suit, and can now access the gym, Fly, and the catacombs again. You also get HM05 Rock Smash, which you will need the badge from this gym to use. Before doing this, we will explore the route to the west first. The way west is blocked, so head south to Route 78.

Mons found (grass only): Slowpoke, Skorupi, Lombre, Pineco, Pidgeotto

Teach Rock Smash and go to the cave to the NW of the gym. This is a small section of Milos Catacombs that has a Calcium.

A TM is accessible on Route 78's beach. This is TM28 Dig.

In the Pokemon-only area of Laurel Forest, enter the Charizard den and smash the rock to the west for 3 Mining Picks.

GLITCH: The items you get in Laurel Forest make up what's called the Treasure Bag. It seems that there is no way that items you get there transfer over to your regular trainer bag yet.

You are supposed to go to Firelight Caverns on Route 85 next. On the way, smash the rock to the south for TM04 Rollout. Now use Rock Smash to enter the caverns.

Just head to the NE gate, you can use Cut for some shortcuts but it isn't necessary. At the guardhouse, if you talk to the guard, you can partake in a special catching challenge, and will be given Park Balls.

15 Park Balls - 10 minutes - P2000 to enter

30 Park Balls - 30 minutes - P3500 to enter

50 Park Balls - 50 minutes - P5000 to enter

20 Park Balls - 15 minutes - P2500 to enter (this is called the weekend special and occurs on Saturdays and Sundays)

You will then have a different layout of Provincial Park and cannot leave. There are no wild mons, but there are shrines that you can inspect, and this is how you find not just Pokemon, but other prizes like certain Poke Balls. Once inspected, it will take a few minutes for a shrine to refresh.

The guy at the bridge is supposed to be repairing it, so that's another broken bridge to think about for later. We need to go east next to Route 80. Before doing so, you need to make some room in your party.

There is not much to Route 80. The sign on the right side says "Silver Egg - Route 56 on a sea rock". The house here is the Naljo Prophet's house. Enter to find an Aggron, who will join your party. It joins at Lv40 and has a Metal Coat, which you should probably take off for evolution purposes.

FIRELIGHT CAVERNS (revisited) [FIR2]

Return to the interior cave on B1F and talk to the man with the Aggron in your party. Select Aggron and he should be walked home, but he does mention the ancient Naljo guardian Pokemon and that certain people are trying to awaken it to restore Naljo's original form (which will kill everything currently, so that's bad). You might want to head back so that you can get your full team and preparations before continuing. The internal cave has no Pokemon and nothing of importance aside from a PP Up at the north end; once you get it, head NW to the ladder, coming up to one of the Palette Patrollers.

Palette Pink: P2520

Wigglytuff Lv33, Laughing Gas, Sweet Kiss, Noise Pulse, Dizzy Punch

Slowbro Lv33, Headbutt, Belly Drum, Psychic, Waterfall

Slowking Lv34, Future Sight, Bubblebeam, Zen Headbutt, Headbutt

Sylveon Lv35, Growth, Baton Pass, Bite, DrainingKiss

Porygon-Z Lv35, Conversion 2, Psybeam, Power Ballad, Take Down

The next ladder is to the NW. On that floor is the next Palette Patroller.

Palette Blue: P2592

Metang Lv34, Selfdestruct, Iron Defense, Bullet Punch, Psychic

Tentacruel Lv35, Barrier, Bubblebeam, Confuse Ray, Steel Eater

Golbat Lv35, Wing Attack, Mean Look, Sludge Bomb, Nasty Plot

Vaporeon Lv36, Growth, Baton Pass, Bite, Bubblebeam

Enter the hole and head up, following the path to find the next Palette Patroller.

Palette Red: P2736

Solrock Lv35, Fire Spin, Rock Throw, Metallurgy, Psychic

Parasect Lv35, Slash, Psybeam, Fury Cutter, Spring Buds

Arcanine Lv36, Bite, Flame Wheel, Agility, Thunder Fang

Seaking Lv37, Storm Front, Hydro Pump, Endure, Flail

Flareon Lv38, Bite, Fire Spin, Endure, Flail

Follow him up to see the three patrollers you battled; Red, Blue, and Pink. Red calls Blue by his real name (Andy) and while Black was arrested, Green and Yellow are branded as traitors and Red wishes to awaken the guardian Varaneous to restore Naljo to former glory. While the others have doubts, the guardian awakens and attacks the patrollers. It then looks towards you and also steals the other orbs the patrollers had. The old man from before (Naljo Prophet Nobu) has the cops arrest the patrollers, while Nobu takes you back to his home on Route 80.

Nobu tells you that Lance, your father, is the reincarnation of the Messenger, and also tells you the ancient lore of Naljo and about the four original legendaries. Varaneous, Libabeel, Raiwato, and Fambaco comprise this quartet. The original Messenger stole the orbs and hid them around the region, causing these four guardians to sleep, until the orbs were brought close, which happened with Varaneous. And being the child of Lance, you're the latest descendant of the Messenger. He then points you to the north, where Acania City is.

Back on Route 81, go back to the man who is at the end of the bridge, and you'll explain who you are. He mentions he needs 20 Brick Pieces to get the bridge to completion. If you remember the note back in Oxalis City, if you bought at least 20 and saved them, you should be good to go. Otherwise, you can fly back there and buy some for P50, or you can mine on this route randomly if you so desire. Also wild Machop can hold Brick Pieces. However you get the pieces, return to the guy and deliver them. The bridge will be done. Talk to the woman here to get the Megaphone, a new held item to boost Sound type moves.

ACANIA DOCKS [ACAN] - Dock byway to the world

Ultra Ball: P1200 | Super Potion: P700 | Hyper Potion: P1200 | Max Repel: P700 | Escape Rope: P550 | Revive: P1500 | Antidote: P100 | Full Heal: P600 | X Accuracy: P950

Mons found: Tentacool (surf), Relicanth (surf)

One person living to the right of the gym gives you TM63 Thunder Wave. Near the city sign is a girl who gives you TM44 Rest. Climb up the Fire Lighthouse and get HM03 Surf from the man up top. While also here there's another item you can find. If you inspect the fires, it tells you not to mess with it, except for one at the east side. If you have a Water type Pokemon, select it and you will douse the flame and receive the Dubious Disc.

Worth noting that Varaneous is a roaming encounter around Naljo. If you wish to get it, you can get it at any time after the patrollers have awakened it. It will be at Lv50.

When you are ready for the sixth gym badge, head on into the gym. The dominant type is the Gas type.

Delinquent Joanie: Venomoth Lv35, Koffing Lv35, Weezing Lv36, P2448

Beauty Camry: Torkoal Lv36, Torkoal Lv37, Ariados Lv38, P3344

Now you are able to Surf. There's a lot to go around here, but we're actually gonna start by exploring Route 68 to the east first.

ROUTE 68 [RT68]

Mons found: Furret, Fearow, Rhyhorn, Pidgeotto, Lombre, Lairon, Bagon, Tentacool (surf and fishing), Relicanth (surf), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Tentacruel (fish with GR/SR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

Special mining item: Energypowder

You can find a Sitrus Berry from the tree. NE of there is an island with an Elixir and SE of that one is a 1x1 island with a hidden Gold Token.

Swimmer Ryder: Wailmer Lv35, Vaporeon Lv36, Wailord Lv37, P444

Swimmer Katlyn: Lombre Lv35, Tentacruel Lv36, Ludicolo Lv36, P432

Swimmer Haden: Seaking Lv37, Feraligatr Lv38, P456

Swimmer Isabel: Masquerain Lv37, Relicanth Lv38, Blastoise Lv39, P468

Officer Cole: Cacturne Lv37, Furret Lv38, Dusclops Lv40, P1600

You need 8 Naljo badges to proceed past the checkpoint, so we're done here for now. Now let's go west of Acania Docks to Route 82.

ROUTE 82 [RT82]

Mons found: Chinchou (surf), Seaking (surf), Feebas (surf and fishing), Milotic (fishing with SR), Magikarp (fishing with OR/GR), Goldeen (fishing with GR)

Special mining item: Smooth Rock

A Persim Berry tree is by a cave entrance. The cave has a Scope Lens, but nothing else, no Pokemon even. The cave can be bypassed by going to the north dock, which has a Silk Scarf. A Thunderstone is at the west side of the route.

Fisher Owen: Tentacruel Lv35, Seaking Lv35, Ludicolo Lv36, P1440

Cooltrainer Jenny: Lairon Lv37, Magcargo Lv38, Absol Lv38, P1824

Fisher Ishmael: Goldeen Lv39, Wailmer Lv39, Seaking Lv40, P1600

The enclave in the middle of the route has a barren cave with no music. Remember it for later. Also there's a Gold Token at the NW part of the east rock in that enclave as well. Next we will head to Route 80, the house with Naljo Prophet Nobu and his Aggron, and surf around there.

ROUTE 80 [RT80]

Mons found: Tentacool (surf and fishing), Feebas (surf), Wailmer (surf and fishing with SR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Magikarp (fish with GR/SR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR), Tentacruel (fish with GR/SR)

Special mining item: Soft Sand

Swimmer Cyndi: Seaking Lv41, Milotic Lv41, Ludicolo Lv42, P504

Fisher Kaleb: Tentacruel Lv41, Wailmer Lv42, Seaking Lv43, P1720

Fisher Denzel: Seaking Lv41, Azumarill Lv42, Wailord Lv43, P1720

Swimmer Loren: Tentacruel Lv41, Blastoise Lv42, P504

Swimmer Dena: Tentacruel Lv42, Vaporeon Lv42, P504

You will find a Dragon Scale (useless here since the Horsea line isn't present) and TM25 Thunder far to the east. And you can't progress further thanks to the Strength boulder. Now you are supposed to go on Route 78, south of Phacelia, but we're gonna get some more things that require Surf now.

SURF BACKTRACKING [SURF]

Acqua Mines mons found:

1F: Goldeen (surf), Feebas (surf), Chinchou (surf)

From the mine cart, surf west to get TM77 Body Slam. Surf east and then north to get a Max Revive. There's a cave to the NW. There, head south and surf to the Nugget, then continue south. You will reach what is known as the Tidal Cave.

If it is 12:00PM to 6:00PM, it is high tide, and you cannot do anything.

If it is 6:00AM to 12:00PM, or if it is 6:00PM to 12:00AM, it is medium tide, and you can catch Libabeel at Lv50.

If it is 12:00AM to 6:00AM, it is low tide, and you can catch Libabeel on this tide as well. There will also be a Blue Flute here. This is all we can do in the mines.

On Route 72, you can get a Gold Token by surfing east of the bridge and inspecting the SW tile on the island.

On Route 73, another island you can surf to has a Max Elixir.

In Mound Cave's upper cave, surf across and talk to a man to get a Mystic Water. While also here, go to the west side of the pit and press A to use your Jumping Shoes. On the other side is TM26 Earthquake. Now enter the actual cave itself from the Route 73 side. Find the rock to smash and afterwards, you can get TM59 Aerial Ace.

On Route 74, surf down the river and you will eventually find a Fire Stone.

GLITCH: After the small stream, there is a big rock and a small rock. For some reason you can go through the small rock, though this does not do anything.

In Heath Village, surf to the NW house to find a grandma who gives you TM30 Shadow Ball.

Go to Route 69 and go east, surfing there to get to a Leaf Stone. On the south side of the route, surf to an island to get a Miracle Seed.

On Route 75, surf to the NW to get a PP Up.

On Route 77, surf west of the bridge and towards the rock to the west. Go to its NE corner and two tiles down is a hidden Gold Token. To the north is a Twistedspoon.

On Milos Catacombs, go to the first sidescrolling section on B2F and all the way at the bottom, you can surf across. The sign says "BIS DAT QVI CITO DAT" (he gives twice who gives promptly) and the item here is a Dusk Stone. Go to the second sidescrolling section, flip three red switches, then a green switch. Retrace your steps to the start of this section and use Jumping Shoes to go east. Go all the way east, then south to a sign saying "HONOR VIRTVTIS PRAEMIVM" (honor is the reward of virtue). The item down here is a Dawn Stone. The last thing you can do here is go to the Phacelia exit, then surf north to a ladder. The long path culminates in an old man who tells you to return with the Green Orb.

Go east to Route 85 and surf across to the SE to get TM95 Steel Eater.

In Provincial Park, go to the NW lake and surf across to get 2 PP Ups. If you are taking the challenge, one of the shrines will be here too.

You can surf on the first floor of Clathrite Tunnel to the east, leading to the other side of Route 71.

Special mining item: Icy Rock

Firebreather Trey: Rapidash Lv41, Arcanine Lv41, Magcargo Lv41, P1968

Juggler Daxton: Magmar Lv41, Machoke Lv41, Electabuzz Lv41, P1640

Firebreather Vic: Weezing Lv41, Magmar Lv41, Ninetales Lv41, P1968

The other cave here is the cave leading to Phacelia Town and Route 78, from the side that requires Strength, which you don't have yet. The Battle Tower here functions like the ones you may know from other games, 7 battles in a row, keep a streak up, you may attract the leader. There is also an exchange corner for your BP.

Protein, Calcium, Iron, Carbos, HP Up: 1 BP | Razor Claw, Razor Fang: 12 BP | Poison Guard, Burn Guard, Freeze Guard, Sleep Guard, Prz Guard: 16 BP | Rare Candy, Power Herb: 24 BP | Brightpowder, Focus Band, Scope Lens, Quick Claw: 32 BP

Refer to the documentation and specifically the Battle Tower guide if you want to look up your opponents' Pokemon and movesets. They may not be completely up to date.

NOTE ABOUT TOWER TYCOONS: You will need to battle the tycoons for the Bingo challenge in Phlox Town. They usually show up when you have a decent streak going, and I got my first tycoon after 20 consecutive wins. According to the user Gunslinger-NV on Reddit:

Turns out the tycoons aren't random and are based on the time of day - Spark = morning, Blanche = afternoon, Candela = evening. Couldn't find anything about this online to confirm it though.

When you say rounds do you mean trainers beaten? Because rounds are used in the battle arcade and tycoons won't show up there. Assuming you're in the battle tower, tycoons show up on a 20 win streak then again on a 48 win streak with a stronger team. After the second encounter, tycoons won't spawn again (I got to a 105 streak without seeing a one after 48) and you'll need to purposely take a loss to get them to spawn again.

This is of course, not confirmed.

Finally, head to Botan City and surf east to find a secret PokeCenter. Cut the tree to access Botan's Pachisi Board, the second one in the game. The layout is different but the encounters you will find are the same ones as the Torenia City Pachisi Board. If you make it to the finish line you can get another Shiny Ball. Now this should conclude the Surf backtracking. Head back to Phacelia and go west and south to Route 78.

ROUTE 78 [RT78]

Mons found: Skorupi, Slowpoke, Lombre, Pidgeotto, Pineco, Tentacool (surf), Surskit (surf), Wailmer (surf), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Feebas (fishing), Milotic (fish with SR), Goldeen (fish with GR)

Special mining item: Soft Sand

Swimmer Dane: Seaking Lv36, Tentacool Lv37, Seaking Lv38, P456

Swimmer Kelly: Vaporeon Lv36, Wailmer Lv37, Milotic Lv38, P456

Swimmer Adrian: Slowpoke Lv38, Slowbro Lv38, Slowking Lv38, P456

Swimmer Hester: Seaking Lv38, Tentacruel Lv38, Gyarados Lv40, P480

Get TM78 Noise Pulse to the south. The east exit is blocked by a guard, so enter Naljo Ruins to the west.

NALJO RUINS [NRUI]

Mons found:

Outside: Geodude, Graveler, Trapinch, Loudred, Rhyhorn, Cacnea, Cacturne

1F: Haunter, Rhyhorn, Golbat, Lairon, Beldum, Donphan, Misdreavus

2F: Haunter, Rhyhorn, Golbat, Machoke, Beldum, Donphan, Chingling

3F: Duskull, Rhyhorn, Lairon, Kangaskhan, Solrock, Beldum, Donphan

5F: Haunter, Shuppet, Rhyhorn, Lairon, Lunatone, Solrock, Beldum, Swablu

Roof: Swablu, Beldum

Special mining item (outside only): Light Clay

In the outside area, make use of the oasis (water) to heal as needed. Talk to the guy at the west side to be told that there could be something great inside. This is our objective. There's an additional path to the SW leading to Clathrite Tunnel, but you will not be able to go to the sliding floors yet because it is too cold. Enter the ruins. This area will have holes to deal with which all lead to the randomly-generated floor that is B1F. Once you trigger a hole, return to 1F and the hole will be there in place, and you can jump over holes with Jumping Shoes. Aside from that, there's a dart trap that blocks your way at the NE. On the west side is a Palette Patroller.

Palette Yellow: P2808

Electabuzz Lv37, Screech, Take Down, Barrier Thunder

Hariyama Lv37, Feint Attack, Belly Drum, Foresight, Cross Chop

Lunatone Lv38, Rock Slide, Future Sight, Zen Headbutt, Pain Split

Typhlosion Lv38, Double Kick, Swift, Defense Curl, Flamethrower

Jolteon Lv39, Baton Pass, Double Kick, Thunder Fang, Agility

Go north to the 2F steps. There are items to the left and right, but you can't get them. On 2F, head NE first for the Blue Jewel. Head back to the steps, then west and south. Find a hole there to drop to TM24 Dragonbreath. Return to 2F, trigger a hole to the east, then return, jump over the hole, and get the Gas Mask. This is important for a floor further up. 3F's stairs are at the SW. Up there, trigger a hole to the east, climb back up, and jump across for a Pearl. Head north from the steps, then all the way to the east wall and down to get TM37 Sandstorm. Head north to 4F, which is the floor that requires the gas mask. There, get 3 Max Repels after triggering one of the holes, then go to the switch to the north labeled "Telum". Use it, which will actually remove the two dart traps. Climb the steps to 5F to find a weird chest and the last Palette Patroller.

Palette Green: P3024

Xatu Lv38, Future Sight, Psybeam, Drill Peck, Confuse Ray

Weepinbell Lv39, Sludge, Growth, Giga Drain, Earth Power

Ludicolo Lv40, Razor Leaf, Bubblebeam, Synthesis, Zen Headbutt

Leafeon Lv40, Bite, Razor Leaf, Endure, Flail

Tyranitar Lv42, Ancientpower, Iron Defense, Earth Power, Pursuit

Get the White Jewel here. The chest here will require four jewels, of which you found two so far. Return to 2F. The NW corner had a dart trap previously, but using the "Telum" switch disabled it. The NW corner has a hole to fall into. This lets you get the Red Jewel on this floor. While on 1F, go to the NE corner avoiding holes, where you will pass the other dart trap and find a switch. This one is called "Murum". Press it, then return to 3F. Near the steps is a new opening leading north and west. Get past two holes to find three items. One is the Brown Jewel, the other two are static Pokemon encounters at Lv40 (Golbat, Misdreavus, Swablu, Yanma, Metang, you cannot run if you trigger these). Go back to 5F and with the four jewels, open the chest to get the Prism Jewel. The orange tile to the west will be something for later, for now, head back outside and talk to the man on the west side. You will exchange the Prism Jewel for a Fake ID. With this, head back to Route 78 and talk to the guard to head through.

ROUTE 79 [RT79]

Mons found: Tentacool (surf and fishing), Surskit (surf), Wailmer (surf and fish with SR), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Tentacruel (fish with GR/SR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR)

Special mining item: Smooth Rock

Surf north to find a Water Ring. South of the bridge and to the east, between rock formations that form a backwards L, is a Gold Token.

Pokefan Craig: Ponyta Lv38, Ponyta Lv38, Rapidash Lv39, P3120

Cooltrainer Rhett: Absol Lv38, Torkoal Lv39, Victreebel Lv39, Tentacruel Lv40, P1920

Bird Keeper Chase: Pidgeotto Lv38, Fearow Lv39, Pidgeot Lv40, P960

Cooltrainer Lacey: Breloom Lv38, Yanmega Lv39, Charizard Lv41, P1968

There are 2 Mining Picks in the upcoming cave. Prepare ahead of time, because the moment you leave the cave, you will be sent to prison.

SAXIFRAGE ISLAND [SAXI] - Island to protect the public from dangerous criminals

Mons found: Vulpix, Butterfree, Houndour, Natu, Xatu, Vibrava, Umbreon, Feebas (fishing), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with GR), Milotic (fish with SR)

(you cannot Surf or Fly here)

Use Jumping Shoes to jump west. Take the steps to a tunnel and on the other side is a room with a PC. Head out to the island and just follow the path (don't have Strength for the boulders yet). You'll see Palette Blue, who explains that Pink is in Eagulou and Red escaped, and also Varaneous was responsible for the tunnels. He gives you a Cage Key. There's also a hidden Revive in the grass nearby. Go back to your cell and unlock the cage to explore 1F. There's steps leading down, steps leading up, and a cave entrance, plus lots of cages you will need Cage Keys for. The steps going down leads to a cage requiring a password.

The steps going up to 2F have a number of locations with guards which you need to avoid being seen by or you will be sent back to your cell. Avoid the guards as you go to the NW corner which has TM65 Explosion. The east entrance leads to a cafeteria. The guy at the table SE of the entrance mentions wanting something fluffy, and a Burger can be nabbed from his table. You can filch a Soda Pop and Fries from the other tables, plus another Cage Key from the SE trash can. In the kitchen, you can pick up two more Burgers. Go back to 2F and make your way to the west side while avoiding guards to enter an Electric room. Here, battle the three Pokemon (Flaaffy, Raichu, and Electabuzz, all Lv30). Afterwards, go through the north door for a third Cage Key.

Return to 1F and enter the small cave after the two sets of steps. Take the steps up and head out, where you will be on the higher floor of 1F. Journey up here to get two more Cage Keys and a Fluffy Coat.

Return to the main 1F but before unlocking cages, there are two places to the left and right to explore. First is the baths to the left, where one man asks you to get a Cigarette from the mart for P1000. Enter the bath to the east of him and search around for a Cage Key. Now head east on 1F to access a weight room. The man at the table gives you a Cage Key, and the nurse to the NE is a healing location. There's also a guard here who will challenge you to a Pokemon battle.

Officer Paulie: Electabuzz Lv43, Magmar Lv43, P1720

This officer mentions that there are locked Pokemon on the lower floors that are unpredictable. Now it's time to unlock prisoner cages on 1F, and if you reached this point, you found seven Cage Keys. One of which was used to open your own cell, so you should currently have six in your inventory. Most of the prisoners here will challenge you to a battle, and most will also have an additional Cage Key; we'll start with the NE cage and then go to the SE end, from right to left.

Sailor Robert: Seaking Lv39, Slowbro Lv40, Slowking Lv41, P1640 and a Cage Key

Fisher Levy: Blastoise Lv40, Gyarados Lv40, Feraligatr Lv40, P1600

Bird Keeper Murphy: Fearow Lv40, Gyarados Lv41, Xatu Lv41, P984 and a Cage Key

Biker Soren: Weezing Lv40, Torkoal Lv41, Golbat Lv42, P1344 and a Cage Key

The next two cages have 3 Friend Balls and a PP Up.

Miner Mick: Weezing Lv41, Graveler Lv42, P1848 and a Cage Key

Sailor Reed: Tentacruel Lv41, Slowbro Lv41, Tentacruel Lv42, P1680 and a Cage Key

Cooltrainer Connor: Rapidash Lv40, Weavile Lv41, Azumarill Lv42, P2016

The last cage you can open on this floor has Palette Black. After his speech, you get the Roof Card. With it, head back to 2F and talk to the guard at the SE end. Go up to fight two officers back-to-back.

Officer Grady: Arcanine Lv41, Lucario Lv42, Pidgeot Lv42, P1680

Officer John: Weavile Lv41, Ampharos Lv42, Victreebel Lv42, P1680

These two tell you to go to Paulie, the officer in the weight room, for the password. Head down there now. He'll give you the password, and from there, return to the downstairs to use it to enter B1F. This floor has six Pokemon locked up in cages, those being two Hariyamas (Lv45), one Metagross (Lv50), one Bronzong (Lv50), and one Machoke (Lv45). All of their cages require a Cage Key, but you only have one if you unlocked all the cages on 1F thus far. Instead of opening these cages, open the one directly south of the steps to find Fambaco, one of the Naljo Guardians, who instead of battling, will immediately run off. We will deal with it later. The last thing of note here is the rival who is at the SW.

(rival): P2640 and HM04 Strength

Parasect Lv41, Poisonpowder, Slash, Giga Drain, Fury Cutter

Scizor Lv42, Slash, Metal Claw, Fury Cutter, Metallurgy

Ursaring Lv42, Slash, Rest, Bulk Up

Weavile Lv43, Slash, Metal Claw, Agility, Swords Dance

Shelgon Lv44, Dragon Claw, Dragonbreath, Crunch, Scary Face

With HM04 Strength in your possession, head back to your cell and jump back across. Go through the tunnel and head out. You are free of the entire prison, but not necessarily the island, since we also have a gym to deal with and we still cannot surf or fly out. Move the boulder to the east and enter the cave, using Jumping Shoes to get TM23 Iron Tail. This tunnel leads to Route 80, and you can surf and fly here of course. But for now, let's see the rest of the island, which has a PokeCenter, a PokeMart, the prison front entrance which is just a wall, the west cave (which was where you were first spotted), and finally the SW gym.

Ultra Ball: P1200 | Super Potion: P700 | Hyper Potion: P1200 | Full Heal: P600 | Revive: P1500 | Cigarette: P1000

Buy a Cigarette and return to the guy in the bathhouse of the prison to receive a Metal Coat. When you are ready, let us challenge the seventh gym, which will predominantly feature Electric and Sound types.

Guitarist Gene: Magneton Lv42, Electabuzz Lv43, Magnezone Lv44, P1408

Guitarist Rocky: Manectric Lv42, Wigglytuff Lv42, Luxray Lv43, P1376

Guitarist Marnie: Misdreavus Lv39, Raichu Lv41, Loudred Lv42, P1344

Leader Cadence: P4800, Raucous Badge, and TM79 Hyper Voice

Mismagius Lv43

Magnezone Lv43, Noise Pulse, Screech, Tri Attack, Thunder Wave

Wigglytuff Lv45, Noise Pulse, Sing, Moonblast, Endure

Exploud Lv48, Noise Pulse, Screech, Supersonic

Beating this gym also allows you to finally use Fly on Saxifrage Island.

STRENGTH BACKTRACKING [STRE]

With Strength you are able to access the Battle Tower from Phacelia Town as well as Saxifrage Island from Route 80.

Move the boulder in the middle of Phacelia Town to get TM54 Energy Ball.

Enter Firelight Caverns from Route 85 and go up to the boulder. Head west after it to get a Calcium, then east to the cave with TM34 Swagger.

Enter Milos Catacombs from Phacelia Town and go NW until you get to the boulder. Move it to find a Trade Stone.

On the other side of Milos Catacombs, move the boulder near the Pokecenter and go around to get TM03 Curse.

In Magikarp Caverns, go through the linear path until you find the boulder. Move it and take the ladder to get a Prism Scale.

If you freed Fambaco from Saxifrage Island, it'll be in the empty cave in Route 81. Go there to attempt to catch it at Lv50.

To continue the story, we are returning to Naljo Ruins, and outside the ruins, going west to the Clathrite Tunnel entrance there. You have the Fluffy Coat from the Saxifrage Prison, so you will be able to progress to the lower floors.

CLATHRITE TUNNEL [CLAT]

Mons found:

B1F: Sneasel, Zubat, Golbat, Chingling, Hariyama, Absol

B2F: Sneasel, Zubat, Swinub, Piloswine, Slowpoke, Bronzor, Glaceon

Special mining item: Icy Rock

Note: You can evolve Eevee into Glaceon by leveling it up anywhere in Clathrite Tunnel.

We are on B1F. Slide west, south, east, north, east, north, west, south, west, north, and west to go to B2F. Here, go north from the steps, north, east, north, east, south, east, north, east, and north to the next area. Slide to the first trainer.

Skier Fawn: Milotic Lv42, Glaceon Lv43, P3096

Next you need to move the boulder down until you can reach the next set of steps. Slide left, then on the higher ground, go south, west, north, east, north, west, south, west, north, east, and north.

Boarder Darin: Piloswine Lv43, Weavile Lv44, P3168

Next move to the tile NE of the boarder, go north, then west for TM70 Dragon Claw. Go back and up again, then east, south, west, north, and east. Before going to the next set of steps, get a Gold Token north of those steps.

On the next floor, head west, south, east, and south for a Dragon Fang. From there, head north, east, south, west, north, east, and north.

This next floor has a boulder and a complex puzzle in order to access the NE cave. You do not need to worry about this yet. Instead, go to the SE steps.

This floor is a maze. Take the south path first for an Ether. Return to the steps and take the east path.

Boarder Boyd: Tentacruel Lv44, Glalie Lv44, Froslass Lv45, P3240

The path will wind to the NE corner, then go to the SW corner where a PP Up is.

Boarder Lloyd: Weezing Lv44, Masquerain Lv46, P3312

ROUTE 84 [RT84]

PHLOX TOWN [PHLO] - The quiet mountain ridge

Special mining item (entrance cave only): Icy Rock

Ultra Ball: P1200 | Hyper Potion: P1200 | Max Potion: P2500 | Full Restore: P3000 | Full Heal: P600 | Revive: P1500 | Max Repel: P700 | Escape Rope: P550

The lab to the north is closed. Enter the Bingo Hall and talk to the old woman to get a card. This is a sidequest for those who want to try achievements for items. I have outlined the achievements for the bingo cards in the last appendix.

Enter the NE cave to return to Acqua Mines once again. Go down to the tidal cave. If it is high tide, all you can do is take the nearby ladder. If it is medium tide, surf east of the ladders and get the Sharp Beak. If it is low tide, go down the steps from the ladders to get a PP Up. The other cave here has a Trade Stone. After reaping any rewards, take the other ladder, then the sequence of ladders until you get to a boulder. Past it is a shiny Rhydon encounter (Lv50). After that is the underground entrance to the locked Algernon Laboratories.

ALGERNON LABORATORIES [ALGE]

You are presented with a destination warp panel (which is there to return you to the start if you are stuck) and new types of directional tiles. The numbers on these tiles correspond to how many spaces they move you, so the one with the 1 will move you one space to the left, and the other with the 2 will move you two spaces to the left.

Go on the first tile, moving three spaces to the north. At this fork, take the west tile, moving west nine spaces. Take two more tiles to the west (7 and 1) and the warp tile to collect a Max Revive. The other tile here takes you back to the start. Take the 3 tile again and the 9 tile again. This time, take the 8 tile nearby, going north eight spaces. Take the west tile going west five spaces. Go around the 4 tile under you and head SE to two green tiles. Take either one, then take the green tile with the 9. You may have noticed the item to the north of that tile, but once you go on the 9 green tile, you can backtrack and get the item which is two Rare Candies. Continue east to find a snoozing officer. Talk to him to battle.

Officer Dean: Machoke Lv44, Arcanine Lv45, Manectric Lv45, P1800 and a Lab Card

With the Lab Card, head back to Phlox Town and open up the main entrance to the laboratories.

Go up to the north wall and inspect the switch there. This red switch activates a nearby teleporter.

Scientist No. 09: Haunter Lv45, Froslass Lv46, P4600

Use the switch the scientist was facing; this is a blue switch. Backtrack and go east to a blue teleporter. Use the switch you find here which is a green switch, then backtrack again. Press the red switch again, removing a barrier west of the red teleporter (which is now deactivated). Take the green teleporter.

Scientist No. 10: Solrock Lv45, Lunatone Lv46, P4600

You have a yellow switch here. Press it, return through the green teleporter, then take the blue teleporter. Press the green switch before using the yellow teleporter, and you will arrive in the area that had the first scientist. Use the blue switch here and go back the way you came. You can now head south.

Scientist No. 07: Ditto Lv45, Magneton Lv46, Espeon Lv46, P4600

Scientist No. 08: Porygon Lv46, Kadabra Lv47, Porygon2 Lv47, P4700

Jolteon Lv48, Agility, Pin Missile, Wild Charge, Heal Bell

TM61 Metronome is on the table. Take the steps, as the teleporter just takes you back to the entrance. The next floor has caged Pokemon. Head south first to battle a scientist.

Scientist No. 06: Kadabra Lv48, Xatu Lv48, Alakazam Lv49, P4900

Behind him is Cage Card 4, which will open up the fourth cage (they are from left to right, the fourth cage contains a Magmortar). Freeing the Pokemon will cause it to go and cause havoc in the room. Go back to where you found the previous cage card and a wall to the south is broken down. Go here for Cage Card 2. Head to the second cage to free the Glaceon, which will freeze something. Head all the way south and slide to the next scientist.

Scientist No. 05: Gardevoir Lv48, Slowbro Lv49, Porygon-Z Lv50, P5000

Get Cage Card 5 and free the Ampharos. Head back to the middle and east.

Palette Green: P3744

Cage Card 1 is in this room. Open the first cage to free the Hitmonchan, then go back to Palette Green where the cracked wall is now busted open. Enter for Cage Card 6. Open the rightmost cage to free the Milotic and get Cage Card 3, then finally open the last cage which housed Blastoise. There's a hidden Max Revive in the bucket of that cage. Return to the east room to find the north side open and flooded. Surf across and take the steps.

Scientist No. 04: Gardevoir Lv49, Weezing Lv50, Exeggutor Lv51, P5100

Scientist No. 03: Weavile Lv48, Slowbro Lv50, Slowking Lv52, P5200

Scientist No. 01: Weezing Lv50, Slowking Lv51, Magneton Lv53, Porygon-Z Lv53, Magnezone Lv55, P5500

Just then, a scientist along with Palette Black show up, apparently knowing what you've been doing. Except this is a good scientist, ready to apprehend the other scientists here. The man also gives you a full pardon from your previous prison sentence, since you already helped the police earlier. The good scientist also reveals his true job, as Spurge City's gym leader. Everyone leaves. Go back to the first floor, use the brown switch if you haven't already, and leave yourself. There's nothing new to do at the moment except go to Spurge City's gym, so head there right now for the final gym challenge, but you should be extra prepared, as you will soon see.

At the gym, it's just the leader himself. But he's not ready for a battle. Instead, you get dropped down a hole. This is where the challenge actually begins. You have lost all your Pokemon, and need to be able to explore without them. Head east first, ignoring the boulder, rock, ladder, and the man on the east side. Press the switch, then return to the first room to remove the boulder. The item here is a Dynamite, which you can immediately use on the rock to the west. Do so and take the ladder after it to the 2D section. The first item you come to is your weakest Pokemon (which is always the first one). Head further to the west using Jumping Shoes and ignore the switch, as it is disabled. Climb up and get your second Pokemon back. Return to the previous room. The ladder here leads to an old man and his Abra. If you pay P400, you can escape the gym challenge, but that's only if you're not ready. When you truly are ready, head east again and talk to the man, who's actually the first gym leader.

Leader Josiah: P5000

Charizard Lv48, Flamethrower, Slash, Sunny Day, Metal Claw

Magcargo Lv50, Flamethrower, Rock Slide, Sunny Day, Burning Mist

Past Josiah are a few more familiar gym leaders, plus your third Pokemon at the west side. The cave before them has a switch. Press it, then return to the 2D section and flip the red lever. You will get your fourth Pokemon back from the locked door. To get the others, you're gonna need to challenge the gym leaders, which we'll start with the rightmost one first.

Leader Rinji: P5200

Ludicolo Lv49, Surf, Giga Drain, Hail, Lick

Tangrowth Lv51, Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, Spring Buds

Metagross Lv54, Iron Defense, Zen Headbutt, Meteor Mash, Ice Punch

Magnezone Lv55, Iron Defense, Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Hidden Power (Psychic)

With eight badges done, head east of Acania Docks to Route 68. Go past the gate at the east end and you will be back in Rijon, this time on Route 67. There's a nifty PokeCenter here, as well as a cave to the left and a gatehouse to the right. The cave, Seneca Caverns, does lead to the league, but we'll take a detour to the east, to a location known as Ember Brook.

During the camping scene, Lance gives you the Rijon Pass and asks you to meet him at the Power Plant there. After the Hall of Fame and credits, you are back at Caper Ridge. It's time we start actually exploring Rijon. The only way to do that at the moment is by taking the underground tunnel on Route 70. Attempting to go south of the Rijon League or anywhere from Botan City will not work, the guards are still there. The only new thing there is, if you go to the Haunted Mansion, the basement is available, however you probably do not have any Cage Keys with you. For now, we're going into the International Tunnel.

INTERNATIONAL TUNNEL [INTL]

Mons found (long tunnel sections only): Zubat, Geodude, Machop, Whismur

Go through the first tunnel and talk to the guard to progress. After that, keep heading through until you find a fork. Go west first for five Mining Picks, then keep going. In the second tunnel, there's a ladder leading to a part of Silk Tunnel, and the next ladder will go to Route 58. Taking the ladder to Silk Tunnel rewards you with only TM66 Rock Slide. Also here, if you go to the east tile and inspect the rock to the north, you'll find the Crystal Egg. Head back and keep going through until you hit Route 58.

ROUTE 58 [RT58]

Mons found: Aron, Pidgeotto, Vulpix, Cacnea, Cacturne, Vibrava

Surf all the way south first and inspect a bush to the SE for a Gold Token. You will need Cut to go north, but then again this is just the other side of the gatehouse leading to Botan City, and the guards are still there, so just head south.

CASTRO VALLEY [CAST] - The courtly little port town

Mons found: Wailmer (surf), Milotic (surf and fish with SR), Feebas (fishing), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with GR)

  • X Defend: P550

Inspect the end of the fence east of the PokeCenter for a Gold Token. Enter the house west of the PokeCenter and talk to the man there to get the Super Rod. If you have a Tyrogue, you can trade it for a Chingling in the house north of that one. East of the gym is the Koolboyman Mansion, which is being converted to an apartment. In Pokemon Brown, this used to be like the Pokemon Mansion in the main games. Enter and go to the left side, then head for the NW corner, between the bookshelves and some boxes. There's a hidden Gold Token here. The other items here are a Magnet and three Ultra Balls. There's a harbor to the south, leading to the Arcade Ferry. You need 8 Rijon badges to get a ticket for later. Let's go to the gym. This has Fighting types, and the leader Koji is among several people who disguise themselves as him. Koji is the one on the right by the way.

Lass Jana: Gallade Lv59, Lucario Lv60, P1440

Lass Debby: Machoke Lv57, Breloom Lv59, Machamp Lv59, P1416

Let's head west.

CASTRO FOREST [CASF]

Mons found: Butterfree, Venonat, Venomoth, Scyther, Pidgeotto, Natu, Xatu, Surskit (surf and fishing), Masquerain (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

Surf west for three Sitrus Berries, then get the Emerald Egg in the rock west of it. Next is the OrngApricorn from the tree. When you get to the far NW corner, you can find a hidden Gold Token there.

Sage Osamu: Weepinbell Lv60, Victreebel Lv60, P1920

Sage Taro: Haunter Lv60, Gengar Lv60, Misdreavus Lv61, P1952

You can't head south for now as a sage blocks the way. Cut the tree for a Smoke Ball and head through the west gatehouse.

ROUTE 62 [RT62]

Mons found: Shinx, Exeggcute, Yanma, Pidgeotto, Parasect

Only one item here, a Gold Token. Find it by going to the east wall near the middle, then heading west in the grass looking for a single tile without tall grass and inspecting it.

Sage Gorou: Victreebel Lv60, Jolteon Lv60, Butterfree Lv61, P1952

Blackbelt Fu: Kangaskhan Lv61, Machamp Lv61, Golem Lv62, P1488

Mons found: Magnemite, Buneary, Pidgeotto, Venonat, Taillow, Swellow, Chinchou (surf), Lanturn (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

Cut the tree to the left and head south.

Fisher Lou: Ludicolo Lv60, Lanturn Lv61, Wailord Lv61, Gyarados Lv62, P2480

Here is a Cage Key, which you will need several more for that area at the Haunted Mansion, so we will not go there yet. Return to the gatehouse and go north past the train tracks. A WhtApricorn is here.

Fisher Markus: Blastoise Lv61, Wailord Lv62, Masquerain Lv63, P2520

Fisher Gus: Milotic Lv60, Masquerain Lv62, Milotic Lv64, P2560

A house here has a trainer who will trade his Electabuzz for your Magmar if you're interested. Head through another gatehouse.

ROUTE 60 [RT60]

Mons found: Magnemite, Mareep, Butterfree, Abra, Venonat, Volbeat, Pidgeotto, Lombre, Chinchou (surf), Lanturn (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

The Power Plant is here, and will be covered real soon. Before doing so, I recommend surfing north, getting the Gold Token from a bush outside the gatehouse, and detouring to Moraga Town to heal or so.

POWER PLANT [POWE]

Mons found: Pikachu, Raichu, Magnemite, Magneton, Manectric, Elekid, Electabuzz, Jolteon

NOTE: Level up a Magneton in here to evolve it into a Magnezone.

You automatically walk to Lance upon going in. However, he just says that there will be a new mission in a new update of Prism, so you won't be doing anything for now. Head up to where you see nine desks. Go to the NE one and inspect the left side to get a Gold Token. Go into the next room and left to get an Electirizer. Head east, then to the south table for TM94 Crystal Bolt. In the NE room you can get two X Sp. Atks. Head south, slightly SW, and to the south is a Thunder Ring. New to the newest versions is a second floor, which you can head up to the west. In this section, get a Max Ether, then go up to 3F for two Fast Balls and Zapdos Lv50. We have encountered all three legendary birds. Leave and head west to Moraga Town.

Cut the tree to the NW and inspect the bush NW of the tree to find a Gold Token. The house here has the Move Relearner, who wants Heart Scales for his service. You can get Heart Scales by mining. You will see an item as you head near the PokeMart, and you can access it by going to the Silk Tunnel entrance (on the east side) and heading west and north. This is a King's Rock. • Ultra Ball: P1200
  • Keg of Beer: P200
  • Hyper Potion: P1200
  • Revive: P1500
  • ParalyzeHeal: P200

A Gold Token collector is in the home south of the west gate. For 5 Gold Tokens you can exchange for any of these items: Lucky Egg, Hyper Share (all Pokemon gain 1/3 EXP, but you get P0 in battles), Macho Brace, Expert Belt, Muscle Band, Wise Glasses.

To get a Gold Token in the city, go to the sets of ledges at the north end, then to the NE corner. Jump down five ledges, then the right ledge. Inspect the bush on the left. The right path here also leads to Route 65 to the north, and the guards there are now gone. Other than that, there's just an Electric type gym here.

ROUTE 59 [RT59]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Spearow, Fearow, Taillow, Swellow, Kirlia

Enter the grass to the east to find a Gold Token in a bare spot. A larger section of grass has TM52 Swords Dance.

Juggler Cesar: Kadabra Lv61, Alakazam Lv61, Machoke Lv62, Machamp Lv63, P2520

The last trainer mentions the quarantine in Botan City is over. What that means is that by battling this trainer, the guards at both Botan checkpoints will be gone. The Silph Warehouse is on this route. You can enter and go downstairs for an Upgrade and TM06 Toxic. A guard blocks an upstairs corridor and says you need to be a Silph employee to be up there. Now return to Moraga Town and head into Silk Tunnel.

SILK TUNNEL [SILK]

Mons found:

1F: Geodude, Zubat, Onix, Slowpoke, Koffing, Weezing

Hiker Nelson: Graveler Lv63, Aggron Lv66, Golem Lv67, P2144

Hiker Roger: Camerupt Lv65, Golem Lv66, Gliscor Lv68, P2176

If you keep going south, you will find a teleporter to a dark area. This requires the Flash TM to go through safely, however, if you follow the map that is on Rijon wiki, it is possible to actually go through this place to get the items early. You can also follow my directions below after taking the ladder down:

Left 1, Up 8, Right 1, Up 4, Right 9, Up 1, Right 3, Down 1, Right 1, Down 4, Left 8, Down 5, Right 1, Down 1, use Surf at the water, Down 1, Left 2, Down 2 (you will be out of the water here), Right 6, Up 1, Right 2, Up 1, and you are in the second area.

Down 1, Right 1, Down 13, face left and get a Trade Stone, Up 10, Left all the way to get a Cage Key, Right 3, Up 3, Left 1 to get TM22 Solar Beam, Right 1, Down 9, Left 2, face up and press A for a Gold Token, then go south from there to get a second Cage Key.

No wild Pokemon are in either of the two dark rooms. You can retrace your steps to get back, or you can just use an Escape Rope at this point. If you followed this walkthrough up to this point and decided to do the optional dark rooms in Silk Tunnel, you should have three Cage Keys, which is exactly enough for a sidequest. Bring the Cage Keys and a mon with Rock Smash to Botan City, then go to the Haunted Forest and the Haunted Mansion. Enter and go to the dining hall (NW of the main entrance). You can now access the stairs to the SW.

Mons found: Haunter, Banette, Spiritomb (also encountered with Rock Smash), Dusclops

Open the north cage and break the rock to find a Cleanse Tag. Use the remaining Cage Keys to head to the east cage which has TM71 Shadow Claw. In this cage, smash the NW rock to find a strange warp tile. This leads to Glitch City, where you will need to go from right to left, encountering a strange bird Pokemon. When you have a river on the west side, walk over it, then over the gym roof to finally confront Phancero Lv70. You will be warped back to the cage after the encounter, and six Great Balls will appear in your inventory. With this sidequest over, let's return to Silk Tunnel and head west from the ladder that led to the dark rooms.

Picnicker Lisa: Venusaur Lv66, Parasect Lv68, Meganium Lv69, P1380

Hiker Aiden: Crobat Lv66, Rhydon Lv67, Rhyperior Lv69, P2208

Get the Protector and Max Ether on this floor before taking the next ladder. The path is linear from here on out.

Hiker Charlie: Torkoal Lv64, Forretress Lv65, Flygon Lv68, P2176

Hiker Ralph: Onix Lv64, Steelix Lv65, P2080

ROUTE 63 [RT63]

Mons found: Taillow, Swellow, Spearow, Fearow, Exeggcute, Loudred

Lass Maggie: Lucario Lv69, Mismagius Lv70, Xatu Lv72, P1728

Bug Catcher Luke: Masquerain Lv68, Butterfree Lv70, P1120

When you reach a fork, head west and approach the ledge. You actually have to "use" the ledge to get a Gold Token here. TM58 Iron Head is on the route as well. You will need Cut to access the city.

HAYWARD CITY [HAYW]

First house you come to has a girl who will trade her Relicanth for a Gyarados. Behind that house is a King's Rock. Head to the two houses near the SW end and inspect the two bushes between them, specifically the west one, for a Gold Token. Head west of the big department store and you'll see a Palette Patroller which can be battled. Before battling the Palette Patroller, inspect the west side of the house to get a Gold Egg.

Palette Blue: P5400

  • Crobat Lv70, Poison Jab, Brave Bird, Crunch, Haze
  • Tentacruel Lv71, Screech, Hydro Pump, Poison Jab, Double-Edge
  • Rampardos Lv72, Head Smash, Screech, Outrage, Zen Headbutt
  • Metagross Lv73, Meteor Mash, Agility, Zen Headbutt, Metallurgy
  • Vaporeon Lv75, Charm, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Haze

He gives you the option of wearing the Palette Suit, similar to when you were on that mission in Phacelia. Say yes to don the suit, but in order to change appearance back, go to the salon in Oxalis City. If you want to don the Palette Suit again, go back to Palette Blue. Now let's check out the large department store, known as the Southland Mall.

By this point if you've been following the walkthrough diligently, you may have gotten some of those secret eggs. Five out of seven, to be exact. The woman on 6F specializes in three of these secret eggs. Specifically, the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Eggs, for which you can exchange for the Red Orb, Blue Orb, and Green Orb, respectively. The Crystal Egg and Gold Egg's uses will come later. Now let's sidequest and get the Hoenn weather trio of legendaries. They are all in Naljo.

Fly to Phacelia, head east, and into Firelight Caverns. Take the ladder on 1F, jump to the west, take the ladder, jump to the east, and follow the path to the statue, placing the Red Orb. The statue is Groudon Lv50.

Return to Phacelia, head west, then south and go into Naljo Ruins. From the entrance, go to Clathrite Tunnel to the west. Go through the sliding puzzles until you find the room without sliding ice and a boulder (just after the Dragon Fang room). On this floor, push the boulder right 4, down 7, left 13, up 6, right 3, up 4, left 2, up 3, right 6, down 2, right 3, up 2, right 7, down 3, left 2, down 7, right 2, down 3, right 5, then up all the way to the ice. Slide west, north, and east to the boulder, and you can now access the cave. Here, slide to the east to head around to the Icy Rock, then head north. Place the Blue Orb here to confront Kyogre Lv50.

Return to Phacelia and enter Milos Catacombs. Head east and surf across. Climb the ladder all the way to the top and talk to the man who takes your Green Orb and brings you to his master, Rayquaza Lv50.

With these side trips done, return to Hayward City. We have three possible paths, left, up, and down, and we will start with the left path first.

ROUTE 64 [RT64]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Taillow, Ralts, Aron, Yanma, Eevee

No trainers, just a zigzag path leading to a cave. Break the rock to get a Smooth Rock, then inspect the wall west of that for a Gold Token. The cave has TM83 Light Screen. The other side leads to the Naljo border checkpoint. Return to Hayward and now you have a choice. Go up the north part of Rijon through Route 51? Or the south part through Route 52? The north part will be covered first here, and is actually the harder of the two paths, even going to Johto and Kanto. If you want to tackle the easier path, skip to [RT52].

To the right, a woman in a house will check your Pokemon's friendship, and if happy, the woman will teach a move to that Pokemon for free. The move varies depending on which Pokemon it is. There's a hidden Gold Token past the train tracks, if you go towards a man at the east side, it is one tile to the west of him. The Game Corner, Underground, Gym, and Magnet Train are all still around.

Go south.

ROUTE 53 [RT53]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Bellsprout, Pikachu, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan

Use Cut to access the grass here. The left side has a PnkApricorn tree while you can find a hidden Gold Token in the right side (a few tiles NE of the house on an empty tile). A guy here gives free samples from the PokeMart in the next town.

GRAVEL TOWN [GRAV] - A quiet mountain town

  • Ultra Ball: P1200
  • Hyper Potion: P1200
  • Full Heal: P600
  • Revive: P1500
  • Antidote: P100
  • ParalyzeHeal: P200
  • Awakening: P250
  • Burn Heal: P250

Head to the fenced-in house to the west and find a Gold Token on the mountain wall to the north. This is the home of Prof. Tim's lab from Pokemon Brown. The professor's granddaughter Jen is running things here, and tells you about the Battle Arcade. You need the 8 Rijon badges to unlock this, so remember this for later. No, you cannot get the starters here, at least not now. The only thing left besides the PokeMart is Merson Cave.

MERSON CAVE [MERC]

Mons found:

1F: Zubat, Geodude, Graveler, Slowpoke, Vulpix

B1F: Zubat, Golbat, Geodude, Graveler, Abra, Onix, Steelix

Lass Bronwyn: Raichu Lv76, Wigglytuff Lv78, P1872

Hiker Eli: Graveler Lv75, Steelix Lv76, Golem Lv76, P2432

Take the Dusk Ring before taking the next ladder (the nearby stairs don't lead anywhere). On the next floor, go west and north to the dead end first for a Gold Token. If you take the steps to the west, you will come across another pitch dark room that requires Flash for proper navigation, however if you follow the map on the Rijon wiki or my instructions below, you can get the items then (no Pokemon or trainers down here by the way):

Left 2, Up 4, Right 2, Up 3, Right 5, Up 10, Left 5, Up 1, Left 1, Up 3 for a Cage Key.

Down 3, Right 4, Down 1, Right 2, Down 9, Right 8, Down 1, Right 2, Down 8, Right 4, Up 1 for another Cage Key.

Down 1, Left 4, Up 9, Right 5, Up 6, Left 1, Up 6, Left 1, Up 1, Left 1, Up 1, Left 8, Up 14, Left 5 for a Shiny Stone.

Right 11, Up 4, Left 18, Up 6, Left 2, Down 8, Right 3 for TM91 Final Chance.

You can probably just leave with an Escape Rope at this point, but if not, then Left 3, Up 8, Right 2, Down 6, Right 18, Down 5, Right 1, Down 4, Right 1, Down 4, Left 1, Down 5, Right 1, Down 1, Right 1, Down 1, Right 1, Down 7, Right 1, Down 5, Left 5, Down 1, Left 7, Up 1, Left 6, Down 1, Left 2, Down 4, Left 2, Down 3, Right 2 to get out. Head south and keep following the path, which goes all around 1F. Get the HP Up here too.

Bug Catcher Fritz: Butterfree Lv70, Scizor Lv71, Yanmega Lv73, P1168

ROUTE 54 [RT54]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Ralts, Kirlia, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Abra

Sage Tenzin: Drifblim Lv77, Spiritomb Lv78, Dusclops Lv78, P2496

Lass Jan: Wigglytuff Lv78, Wigglytuff Lv78, P1872

A Gold Token is at the empty spot to the south, and there's a GrnApricorn tree here too.

MERSON CITY [MERS] - The little rocky crevice

  • Water Stone: P2100
  • Poke Ball: P200
  • Super Potion: P700
  • Super Repel: P500
  • Antidote: P100
  • ParalyzeHeal: P200
  • Awakening: P250

A house full of bird Pokemon and their trainer is a place where you can get TM62 Sky Attack. The house to the SE of that has a man who will give you Gold Tokens for every 30 Pokemon caught. This goes up to eight milestones, which is 240 Pokemon and the net total is 32 Gold Tokens if you manage it. If you manage to get a fully completed Pokedex, you will end up with the Shop Ticket, which can be used at the Silph Warehouse, but you don't have this yet (it is also just not possible as of the current update, as one particular Pokemon, Mewtwo, is completely unavailable right now). You can get yet another Gold Token from a bush at the PokeCenter. Previous versions of Prism did not allow you to access the south parts of Rijon. However, that has changed in this update, as you can enter the South Rijon Gate.

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Venonat, Yanma, Abra, Marill (surf), Azumarill (surf), Tentacruel (surf and fish with GR/SR), Tentacool (fish with OR/GR), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

Other than Pokemon here, nothing to actually note. The gate's closed due to quarantine. Time for another gym in the city, this one being a Water gym this time.

Mons found (fishing only): Magikarp, Goldeen, Tentacool (GR/SR), Seaking (SR)

Camper Otis: Relicanth Lv78, Blastoise Lv78, P1560

Leader Karpman: P8200, Marine Badge, and TM80 Storm Front

  • Seaking Lv76, Megahorn, Hydro Pump, Surf, Ice Beam
  • Slowbro Lv77, Surf, Calm Mind, Earthquake, Rest
  • Lanturn Lv79, Surf, Confuse Ray, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave
  • Tentacruel Lv80, Sludge Bomb, Surf, Ice Beam, Substitute
  • Vaporeon Lv82, Vaporize, Ice Beam, Surf, Acid Armor

Head north now.

ROUTE 55 [RT55]

Mons found: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Aron, Lairon, Machop, Machoke, Abra

Hiker Kip: Weezing Lv78, Camerupt Lv80, P2560

Hiker Johan: Golem Lv78, Steelix Lv80, P2560

Mt Boulder's entrance is here. Go north of it, then west, then north to the corner and find the hidden Gold Token in the small nook.

Gentleman Ashton: Arcanine Lv80, Relicanth Lv82, Ninetales Lv84, P6048

The building nearby is called Rainbow Tower, which used to be called KBM Games in Brown. However, it is under renovation. If you keep going north, you will find the other entrance to the Dock Underpass, leading back to Route 52 and Hayward City. Head back to the Mt Boulder entrance and enter.

MT BOULDER [BOUL]

Mons found:

1F: Zubat, Golbat, Koffing, Weezing, Growlithe, Machop, Magikarp (surf and fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (surf and fishing), Relicanth (fish with GR/SR), Tentacool (fish with GR/SR)

B1F: Slowpoke, Slowbro, Marill, Beldum, Golbat, Tentacool (surf and fish with GR/SR), Relicanth (surf and fish with GR/SR), Magikarp (surf and fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (surf and fishing)

Descend the platform and go south to a rock jutting out. This has the Gold Token. Ignore the water and go for the other ladder, then go to the west wall, to the SW corner, to the damaged sign to the east, and then further east, north, west across the water, to get TM60 Reflect. Return to 1F, surf across, but ignore this ladder and take the second one you come to. This leads to a building. Head west and then north to the shelves, using the fourth one to find a Max Revive. Go up to the teleporter, leave, and you're somehow in Hayward City? Enter the building to find an Egg Appraiser. This is where the Gold and Silver Eggs can be appraised, as they are Pokemon eggs (but not the Crystal Egg, and we have not seen the Silver Egg just yet). With that said, you can eventually hatch the Gold Egg into Ho-Oh. Back in Mt Boulder, the ladder you skipped leads to Eagulou City.

EAGULOU CITY [EAGU] - Self-proclaimed underrated

Mons found (construction area): Slowpoke, Slowbro, Spearow, Tentacool (surf), Tentacruel (surf), Taillow (surf), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with GR), Feebas (fishing), Milotic (fish with SR)

  • Eagulou Ball: P100 (you need these for Eagulou Park)
  • Ultra Ball: P1200
  • Max Potion: P2500
  • Escape Rope: P550
  • Max Repel: P700

Both the PokeCenter and PokeMart are close by, with a Gold Token hidden in a bush SE of the PokeMart, the park is right in the middle, and the gym is actually the east cave, but the newest update has a construction project to the west.

EAGULOU PARK [EAGP]

Mons found:

Area 1: Growlithe, Bellsprout, Rhyhorn, Kangaskhan, Sylveon, Tentacool (surf), Surskit (surf and fishing), Gyarados (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

Area 2: Cacnea, Phanpy, Exeggcute, Venomoth, Weepinbell, Lombre, Chansey, Goldeen (surf), Seaking (surf), Relicanth (surf), Surskit (fishing), Magikarp (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

Area 3: Rhyhorn, Kadabra, Exeggcute, Magby, Magmar, Elekid, Electabuzz

There's no time or step limit, but you must use the Eagulou Park Balls to catch mons here and you cannot actually battle them. You will start in Area 1, with Area 2 accessible to the north and Area 3 accessible earlier to the east. Go there, head north to TM02 Headbutt, go east to the platform and take the middle steps down to get a Charcoal. Finally, go to the NE corner to get an Ultra Ball. Head west from there to get to Area 2. There, go all the way to the west side (surf across) and there, head south to get a Berserk Gene. That's all the items here. Leave and enter the cave for the next gym challenge. You will start with a cave.

Mons found: Slowbro, Golbat, Gengar, Goldeen (fishing), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Relicanth (fish with GR/SR), Tentacool (fish with GR/SR)

Afterwards is a prison of sorts. You have to battle the inmates by unlocking the cages, but if you brought your own Cage Keys, it won't work. Get the Cage Key from the central table and start with the SW cell, which is the only cell you can open for now.

Sailor Poul: Tentacruel Lv77, Tentacruel Lv78, Azumarill Lv78, Relicanth Lv79, P3160 and a Cage Key

He says the next cage to unlock is the one with the Team Rocket grunt, which is near the entrance.

Rocket Grunt: Venomoth Lv78, Weezing Lv79, Crobat Lv81, P3240 and a Cage Key

Now we have the key to the Palette Patroller's cell.

Palette Pink: P5976 and a Cage Key

  • Wigglytuff Lv80, Perish Song, Hyper Voice, Play Rough, Burning Mist
  • Slowbro Lv81, Iron Defense, Psychic, Waterfall, Amnesia
  • Slowking Lv82, Nasty Plot, Psychic, Waterfall, Power Gem
  • Sylveon Lv82, Charm, Hyper Voice, Moonblast, Calm Mind
  • Porygon-Z Lv83, Hyper Voice, Nasty Plot, Recover, Blizzard

Finally the warden's cell, and the warden is the leader Silver.

Leader Silver: P8800, Star Badge, and TM08 Flash

  • Weavile Lv84, Night Slash, Swords Dance, Ice Punch, Fury Cutter
  • Magnezone Lv84, Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Metallurgy, Supersonic
  • Gengar Lv85, Dark Pulse, Sludge Bomb, Hypnosis, Will-O-Wisp
  • Alakazam Lv86, Dark Pulse, Calm Mind, Psychic, Recover
  • Crobat Lv87, Screech, Brave Bird, Air Slash, Crunch
  • Hitmontop Lv88, Double-Edge, Bulk Up, Mach Punch, Hi Jump Kick

If you have not explored the dark caves in Merson Cave and Silk Tunnel, you will have an easier time doing so. Go east of Eagulou City when ready.

ROUTE 56 [RT56]

Mons found: Tentacool (surf and fishing), Tentacruel (surf and fish with GR/SR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

The building in the middle leads to what's called the City Underpass. Here, you can take a shortcut to Moraga Town that you couldn't take earlier.

Swimmer Kyron: Ludicolo Lv81, Gyarados Lv82, Seaking Lv83, P996

Swimmer Sheila: Lanturn Lv81, Vaporeon Lv83, Milotic Lv83, P996

Swimmer Xavier: Tentacruel Lv81, Azumarill Lv82, Wailord Lv83, P996

Between the second and last trainers, find three rocks arranged like a triangle and look at the south of those three rocks. Use the SW corner of that rock to find the Silver Egg. Remember to bring it to the appraiser in Hayward to get the Lugia egg. After the last trainer, go to the rocks to the NE of him and to the north dead end for a Gold Token. Head east.

ROUTE 57 [RT57]

Mons found: Swellow, Weepinbell, Luxio, Tangela, Parasect, Raichu, Goldeen (surf), Seaking (surf), Magikarp (fishing), Surskit (fishing), Feebas (fish with GR/SR)

Head to the middle of the route where there should be two 2x2 formations of bushes. Inspect the SW bush on the north formation for the Gold Token. To the north is the gatehouse to Castro Forest, which opens up when you access Hayward City. The other thing of note here is the Normal type gym, with just the leader inside.

Leader Joe: P7600, White Badge, and TM15 Hyper Beam

  • Furret Lv69, Rollout, Dig, Double-Edge, Swagger
  • Kangaskhan Lv71, Earthquake, Dizzy Punch, Attract, Fire Punch
  • Ursaring Lv73, Swords Dance, Crunch, Slash, Seismic Toss
  • Pidgeot Lv74, Whirlwind, Brave Bird, Air Slash, Quick Attack
  • Snorlax Lv76, Earthquake, Ice Punch, Rest, Sleep Talk

You should now have all eight Rijon badges. If you decided to head south of Hayward first instead of north, you still have Owsauri's badge to collect, plus the Johto and Kanto ones, so skip to [RT51] and go from there. If you do have the eight Rijon badges, return to Gravel Town and talk with Jen to get the Ferry Ticket, which allows you to head to the Battle Arcade. In addition, you can pick one of the Kanto starters. What about the others? Well, if you talk to the two aides, they collect Gold Tokens, and both want eight. Give one eight, and you can get another starter. Give the other eight, and you now have all three Kanto starters!

The Ferry Ticket is used at Castro Valley's harbor. Go there, and you'll wind up on Route 86, in front of the Battle Arcade.

ROUTE 86 [ARCA]

Mons found: Tentacool (surf and fishing), Goldeen (surf and fish with OR), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Gyarados (fish with GR/SR), Tentacruel (fish with GR/SR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

Head out and towards the arcade. To the east is a hidden Full Restore in one of the trees. Inside the arcade, it takes P500 to try, and you win tickets for every 300 points. You choose three Pokemon, will battle increasingly difficult battles, and statuses and PP (but not HP) are healed each battle. To my knowledge, the Battle Arcade rounds will go on indefinitely until you either lose or forfeit (you can forfeit by selecting Run in battle). Scoring is hard for me to describe so refer to the Battle Arcade page on the Rijon wiki for how it works, or just see for yourself when you play as it shows up after completing/forfeiting/losing a round. The right clerk has the prize counter.

  • Silverpowder: 10 tickets
  • Lucky Punch: 25 tickets
  • Everstone: 30 tickets
  • PP Up: 40 tickets
  • Wise Glasses: 50 tickets
  • Muscle Band: 50 tickets
  • Dragon Fang: 60 tickets
  • Eviolite: 75 tickets
  • Rare Candy: 80 tickets
  • Trade Stone: 100 tickets
  • Electirizer: 100 tickets
  • Magmarizer: 100 tickets
  • Max Revive: 125 tickets
  • Max Elixir: 150 tickets
  • Friend Ball: 200 tickets
  • Sacred Ash: 250 tickets
  • Mystery Tckt: 350 tickets

You should definitely get the Mystery Tckt if you are going for an ultimate challenge later on. Aside from the arcade, you can surf south on this route to a building, which actually requires the Prism Key to open. You will find yourself on Faraway Island. Follow the path to the inside and you can get Mew Lv50.

There's one more region to check out. Go back to Laurel City in Naljo and make your way through two ladders of Magikarp Caverns. Head north and talk to the old man. You have eight Rijon badges, so you will be able to pass. But only after a battle!

Sage Koiking: Bronzong Lv80, Magikarp Lv100, Magikarp Lv100, Magikarp Lv100, Magikarp Lv100, Forretress Lv80, P2560

(This new trainer I may need some additional info, since I'm sure there's some held items on those Magikarps.)

ROUTE 87 [RT87]

Mons found: Lombre, Geodude (morning and day only), Drifloon (night only), Azumarill, Swellow, Natu, Xatu, Chingling, Tentacool (surf), Goldeen (surf and fish with GR), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Feebas (fishing), Milotic (fish with SR)

Swimmer Bodhi: Ludicolo Lv75, Tentacruel Lv76, Blastoise Lv78, P936

Swimmer Megan: Wailord Lv76, Seaking Lv78, Milotic Lv80, P960

Swimmer Remco: Azumarill Lv77, Seaking Lv79, Feraligatr Lv80, P960

Head north to Tunod Waterway, but we will be heading west first to a cave. This is a new path leading to a small section of Rankor. For those who played Pokemon Glazed, Tunod is the main section, while Rankor is the post-game archipelago (Johto was also playable in its entirety, but in this game, Johto, Tunod, and Rankor are not playable in entirety).

OLCAN CHINE [OLCC]

Entrance: Sableye, Zubat, Golbat, Parasect, Lileep, Slowpoke (morning and day only), Slowbro (night only on land, surf any time), Relicanth (surf, fish with GR/SR), Anorith (surf), Goldeen (fishing), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Tentacool (fish with GR/SR)

Inside: Taillow (morning and day only), Swellow (morning and day only), Zubat (night only), Golbat (night only), Gligar (morning and day only), Sableye (night only), Parasect, Lileep, Slowpoke (morning and day only), Slowbro (night only, surf any time), Relicanth (surf, fish with GR/SR), Anorith (surf), Goldeen (fishing), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Tentacool (fish with GR/SR)

Only item here is a Carbos and the rest of the way is a linear path.

OLCAN ISLE [OLCA]

Mons found: Magmar, Magmortar, Houndoom, Gligar, Magcargo, Drifloon (night only), Arcanine, Shelgon, Tentacruel (surf and fish with GR/SR), Gyarados (surf and fish with GR/SR), Relicanth (surf), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Tentacool (fishing), Goldeen (fish with OR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

Swimmer Vanessa: Raichu Lv81, Yanmega Lv82, Furret Lv83, P996

Pokemaniac Rafael: Venusaur Lv80, Typhlosion Lv80, Feraligatr Lv80, Luxray Lv80, Lucario Lv80, P4800

There's a PokeCenter to heal. The Seagallop ferry service is unavailable and a woman blocks the stairs inside. The mudslide near the miner trainer has a Rare Candy, get it from above.

Miner Magnus: Tyranitar Lv82, Hitmonchan Lv83, P3652

This covers the extent of the Rankor region, tied to Tunod in Glazed. Now it's time to head to Tunod proper. Backtrack to the Tunod Waterway.

TUNOD WATERWAY [TUNW]

Mons found: Swellow, Azumarill, Flaaffy (morning and day only), Drifloon (night only), Drifblim (night only), Xatu, Azumarill, Chingling, Seaking (surf), Tentacruel (surf and fish with GR/SR), Gyarados (surf and fish with GR/SR), Tentacool (fish), Magikarp (fish with OR/GR), Goldeen (fish with OR), Wailmer (fish with SR)

  • Burn Heal: P250
  • Full Heal: P600
  • Max Repel: P700
  • Elixir: P3000

To the west of the entrance is the airport. You don't have a plane ticket yet, but you can go upstairs to a Magnet Train expansion, which goes to Naljo. So you can go between Tunod and Naljo this way. There's a gym here, and you can head west, but not north. There's also the Battle Building here, a stamina challenge of sorts where you must battle seven trainers in a row.

Beauty Ginger: Wailord Lv80, Typhlosion Lv80, Lanturn Lv80, Venusaur Lv80, Blissey Lv80, P7040

Cooltrainer Jovan: Salamence Lv80, Tyranitar Lv80, Metagross Lv80, Milotic Lv80, P3840

You receive a Big Nugget for making it through to the end. I believe this set of trainers doesn't change in order but let me know if it does. Anyways, the last gym is here, and is a Fire type gym. Defeating trainers removes the fires inside.

Camper Klaus: Arcanine Lv80, Ninetales Lv81, Magcargo Lv82, P1640

ESPO FOREST [ESPO]

Mons found: Mawile, Metang, Kadabra, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Chimecho (morning and day only), Misdreavus (night only), Espeon

Psychic Grady: Metagross Lv82, Gallade Lv81, Metagross Lv82, P2624

Sage Isaiah: Bellsprout Lv85, Weepinbell Lv83, Victreebel Lv81, P2592

You will pass a shrine, which if I recall was a place where Celebi appeared in Glazed. There's a Blk Apricorn and an OrngApricorn tree as you keep going. Later on is a PnkApricorn tree and a Dawn Stone to the south, then a Wht Apricorn tree to the north. One more trainer is at the dead end to the NW.

Super Nerd Zebulon: Mismagius Lv83, Banette Lv82, Gengar Lv83, Froslass Lv84, Umbreon Lv83, P2656

And that's it for exploring every region possible in Pokemon Prism. There is still one location left to do, and that is the Mystery Zone, which requires you to spend 350 Tickets at the Battle Arcade. Go ahead and do that. Once you have accumulated 350 tickets for the Mystery Tckt and bought it, take it to the airport at Southerly City and talk with the left receptionist.

MYSTERY ZONE [MZON]

SKILL GRINDING

For mining, this is the easiest of the skills to grind, but also important because you will also end up having to use what you get for what you mine in Smelting and Jeweling sometimes. Buy Mining Picks, which are necessary, as well as the Iron Pickaxe if you wish. If you do want the Iron Pickaxe, set it to Mode 2 so you can keep using the Mining Picks. The picks are P500 at Heath Village or Phacelia Town. I recommend Phacelia, because the rocks are right there. Mine to your hearts content.

For smelting, it is a hassle to go all the way back to Rinji's Forest to smelt in that one lava pit, so I recommend buying the Smelter key item from Acania's Gold Token exchange. It's likely you will mine Ore and Coal as you are mining as described above, so this won't be an issue. It's just that grinding smelting levels will always take a long time because when you mine, you may not always get Ore and Coal. Also when you need more money, you HAVE to return to Rinji's Forest to cash the ores in your Ore Case.

For jeweling, on occasion when you mine, you might get the evolutionary stones. Bring them to Route 77's jewelers along with some soot (which should be easy enough, since Coal smelts into ash) and make the rings. I would also sell the rings for extra money. Remember you can only jewel certain rings with certain levels. If you don't get good results when mining, you can always buy the stones, and personally I would just buy Leaf Stones from Moraga Town, as you can grind the jeweling levels easiest here because they use the least amount of soot and have the lowest level. If you still need some, walk around Firelight Caverns for a while.

Crafting, unfortunately, will be the most time-consuming to grind, especially in the early levels. The issue here is you need the apricorns, and the apricorn trees are scattered throughout Rijon along with Espo Forest in the Tunod region. And as you probably know, picking from the tree can only occur once per day, which is why it's time consuming. Still, after picking the apricorns, enter Kurt's home in Azalea to craft. The OrngApricorn is the only one you can do when you start, and it's not until Lv4 you can craft the next one. An OrngApricorn tree exists in Castro Forest as well as Espo Forest, so pick from these each day until you can craft other balls, when the going will get by a little faster. One more thing, do NOT use the Time Machine to try and cheese spawn rates for the apricorns! If you do this, the apricorns won't spawn properly and you may need to wait a few more days to get it working again.

SILPH WAREHOUSE WARES

Note: This area is not possible to get at the moment because Mewtwo is the only Pokemon that cannot be legitimately obtained. If you cheat in Mewtwo as owned in the Pokedex by any means, and have obtained the other 252 Pokemon (meaning 253 owned), talk to the Gold Token man in Merson City to receive a Shop Ticket for filling the entire Pokedex. You can then access the upper floor of Silph Warehouse (west of Botan City). This is the secret shop and these are the wares you could have gotten:

  • Max Revive: P4000
  • Max Elixir: P4500
  • Rare Candy: P4800
  • PP Up: P9800
  • Sacred Ash: P50000
  • Moon Stone: P2100
  • Dawn Stone: P2100
  • Shiny Stone: P2100
  • Dusk Stone: P2100
  • Trade Stone: P2100
  • Exp. Share: P3000
