Introduction

As of this writing, the version is 3.0 and this is when I started writing this walkthrough. There may be changes in a new version as more bugs get reported and changes happen, however this guide will not be reporting them.

Unlike my other ROM hack walkthroughs, this one won't be as detailed. This is largely because the game already has a large amount of documentation, including a generalized walkthrough of its own, a Pokedex with type changes, Pokemon locations, cheat codes, and other features covered. This documentation is available on the internet and is even on the main site pokemonemeraldseaglass.com. Therefore, this walkthrough will not be covering stuff that you can find there (though you might see how to get some legendaries in this guide). What this walkthrough will be is an expansion of the general walkthrough on that site, complete with opposing trainer info as it comes and where some items are located and found. This info will be done assuming that you are not playing in Hard Mode parameters or level caps and is only for playing the game casually.

Main Controls

  • A: Commands of course
  • B: Cancelling commands. Hold to run (or walk if auto-run is enabled)
  • L: With DexNav, you can register a mon to quickly search for instead of having to go to the DexNav menu.
  • R: Toggle auto-run
  • Start: Main menu
  • Select: Use an item registered in the bag.

Early Game

This game starts off the same as usual Emerald. Input your character and name, enter the home, set the clock (note: you can read the book to change some settings, get the Shiny Charm from the PC, and use the Gamecube as the cheat device. Also you already have the Running Shoes at the beginning), miss the report downstairs, leave the house and go to the neighbor's house, inspect the item on the second floor for your rival character to show up, then leave and head north to Route 101 to save Birch using one of the Hoenn starters. After fighting the Lv2 Zigzagoon, you will be back in the lab where you can rename your starter. Head north through Route 101 to get to Oldale Town.

Oldale Town

The Name Rater is in the NW house. The PokeMart has two clerks this time.

Bottom clerk:

Item Price
Poke Ball P200 (after rival battle)
Potion P200
Antidote P200
Paralyze Heal P200
Awakening P200

Top clerk:

Item Price
TM05 Roar P1000
TM07 Hail P2000
TM11 Sunny Day P2000
TM18 Rain Dance P2000

The top clerk in PokeMarts will be increasing their supply of TMs as you get new gym badges in the game. Battle your rival on Route 103 to the north who will have the stronger starter (P300). Follow them back to Littleroot to get your PokeDex and Poke Balls. Talk to your mom who will give you the DexNav. Now to Route 102. A Potion is at the SW end of the route.

Top clerk sells the same TMs that Oldale's clerk sells. The Happy Trainer Merchant stand is in this town next to the gym; Nico and Pedro. Their wares will also change depending on how many gym badges you have.

Nico:

Item Price
Muscle Feather P300 (raises Attack)
Genius Feather P300 (raises Special Attack)

Pedro:

Item Price
Exp. Candy XS P100 (gives small amount of EXP)

Do the catching tutorial (interestingly you don't get to watch Wally catch his mon) and head west to Route 104. Scott gives you the Exp. Share key item here.

Route 104 & Petalburg Woods

  • Youngster Billy: Zigzagoon Lv5, Seedot Lv7, P112
  • Fisherman Darian: Magikarp Lv9, P360
  • Lady Cindy: Zigzagoon Lv7, P1400

You can beachcomb to find three hidden items, a Heart Scale, a Potion, and an Antidote. It might be better to wait until you get the Itemfinder if you don't want to pixel-hunt though. Enter Petalburg Woods. Head east first, get the Potion in the empty space, then south to Route 104 again for a Poke Ball. Head west from the woods entrance now.

  • Bug Catcher Lyle: Caterpie Lv3, Weedle Lv3, Wurmple Lv3, Spinarak Lv3, P48

Get the Paralyze Heal and your first enemy grunt.

  • Team Aqua Grunt: Wailmer Lv9, P180 plus a Great Ball from the researcher

Before the next bug catcher there's a hidden Poke Ball to the south.

  • Bug Catcher James: Nincada Lv6, Nincada Lv6, P96

Get the Ether and enter the north end of Route 104. Get TM09 Bullet Seed near the first berry patch and get the Wailmer Pail and a free berry inside the Flower Shop. New to this game are the mints, which can change a Pokémon's nature. All mints are available for P100 in the Flower Shop. Behind the flower shop you can find a Potion, a hidden Poke Ball, and a hidden Super Potion.

Rustboro City

Enter Rustboro City. To the east is the Wishing Well, which requires the usage of Wishing Stars to get random Pokémon. Talk to the girl near the wall to get 5 Wishing Stars. Another Wishing Star is right by the well. The SW building has a boy who gives a Premier Ball. Talk to Scott in the school as well as the teacher to get a Quick Claw. Get HM01 Cut in the Cutter's house. Walda is in the hotel and there's also the Seedot/Ralts trade if those interest you.

Bottom clerk:

Item Price
Poke Ball P200
Potion P200
Super Potion P700
Antidote P200
Paralyze Heal P200
Escape Rope P500

  • Leader Roxanne: Anorith Lv12, Lileep Lv12, Nosepass Lv15, P1500, Stone Badge, and TM39 Rock Tomb

Post-Stone Badge

Now you can use Cut, but here's the best part, you don't need to teach a mon an HM to use it (although you can if you want to), you can instead just have a mon that learns the HM in your party and you can automatically use it. Use it to get certain things, such as the X Accuracy in Route 104, two Tiny Mushrooms in Petalburg Woods (one in a small dead end near the NE end, one at the east side SE of the X Attack), the Miracle Seed (from a girl in the NE), a Great Ball, and an X Attack.

On Route 115 you can get a Super Potion now, but that's it. Onto Route 116. There's a Repel near the west side, and an X Sp.Atk near Rusturf Tunnel. With Cut you can get the berries, Ether, Potion, and Super Potion (this one is hidden near the SW end of the tree area).

  • Youngster Joey: Tyrogue Lv9, P144
  • Bug Catcher Jose: Wurmple Lv8, Nincada Lv8, P128

Make sure you actually do this Scubi Safari at least once in order to get HM07 Waterfall (a prize for a new high score). Beat your high score again to get a random reward ranging from treasures like Big Pearls to other things. According to documentation, you can even score Heart Scales and a random TM.

When you are ready, head back to Slateport and go to Route 110. Note that Cycling Road is not in this area, and also Birch is in the way (if you came here before cleaning Oceanic Museum, there will be Aqua Grunts here too). Talking to Birch will get him to leave.

If you show him that you have caught 50 Pokémon, you will receive the spiky-eared Pichu. There's a hidden Nugget in the meteorite here.

Fortree City

At Fortree, there's a notable difference in how this area is in this game. Shrines for Pokemon are around and actual houses that are inside trees. A trainer wants a Volbeat in exchange for a Plusle. The next house over has TM10 Hidden Power and someone who teaches Sleep Talk. A new duo of characters (grandpa and granddaughter) in one of the houses mentions that the Pokemon shrines light up one by one, from east to west. The one SE of here starts this little thing, but we need to access the gym to access one of the shrines, so hold off on this for now.

Return to Fortree and unlock the gym, but before entering, let's check the shrines from east to west, starting with the one closest to the east side. A tiny glimmer floats northwest, so go to that shrine now. Next you need to go to the shrine by the gym. The next shrine is straight west from this one, and then you have the one next to the PokeCenter. This will give you a Shiny Charm. This is like the one from the beginning of the game, but will actually increase your shiny odds. Note that the Desk and Chair shop is near the gym as well.

If you need a Wishing Star, there's a girl on Mt. Chimney that sells them for P1500.

Protein, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Carbos, HP Up P10000

Everything in the Battle Frontier is the same as before. The Artisan Cave has an Iron (NE of start, in a rock), an HP Up, a Zinc (rock north of HP Up), a Calcium (north ledge, one of the north rocks), a Protein (NW rock), and a Carbos.

In the expanded Safari Zone area, there's a PP Up (hidden below southernmost Pokeblock stand), a Full Restore (SE end, north bare spot), a Big Pearl, and a Nugget.

You can battle Steven in the Meteor Falls secret cave.

  • PKMN Trainer Steven: Skarmory Lv77, Claydol Lv75, Aggron Lv76, Cradily Lv76, Armaldo Lv76, Metagross Lv78, P4680

You can find Kyogre and Groudon by entering the Weather Institute and talking to the lead scientist, who will direct you to whichever route has sunlight or rain. They are Lv70.

You can acquire the Root or Claw Fossil in the Desert Underpass, whichever one you missed. Since you beat the Pokemon League once, you can return to Lilycove harbor and sail to Southern Island to get Latios or Latias, whichever one you did not get before, at Lv50. You can also get a free Beldum by visiting Steven's home in Mossdeep. Also in Mossdeep, talk to the sailor that gave you the S.S. Ticket. This time, he has an Old Sea Map, but you need to have the Pokedex entry for Rhydon in your dex. If you do, you'll get the Old Sea Map. He says he has more, but we'll cover what the Old Sea Map has. Sail to the Faraway Island to get Mew Lv30. Return to the sailor in Mossdeep, he now has a Mystic Ticket he will lend if you have a Pokémon that has control over Water and Fire types. Said Pokémon in particular is Octillery, if you have the dex entry, you will receive the Mystic Ticket. This lets you sail to Navel Rock to get Ho-Oh and Lugia at Lv50. Return to the sailor and make sure you have the Pokedex entry for Rayquaza this time. You'll get the Aurora Ticket. Sail to Birth Island to catch Deoxys Lv70.

The next thing the sailor tells you about is a special Pokémon in Granite Cave, a legendary trio in Shoal Cave, another trio at Mt. Pyre's summit, and a final legendary in Route 119. Happy hunting for these! Shoal Cave is the closest, but it must be low tide to get these ones. Go to the ice cave at the bottom and talk to the sailor who's gonna summon Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Or just one of them. You'll have your chance at one, but will need to return later to get the others. The same thing applies for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. By going to Mt. Pyre's summit, talk to the sailor to get one of them. According to the sailor, if you need to pass the time, you should challenge the League again. On Route 119, you need the Acro Bike, and with it, go to the north end, crossing bridges until you reach the shrine where the sailor is, who will let you challenge Celebi Lv40. Finally, Granite Cave has Mewtwo. Go to the room where you met Steven to encounter the sailor who summons Mewtwo Lv80.

Interestingly, you can have second chances to catch any of these mons if you miss them, but of course, you will have to battle the League each time in order to keep going, and for the Johto beasts, you need to have it be low tide in Shoal Cave.

But this does it for the walkthrough as a whole. I will not be covering Battle Frontier stuff, as your mileage will wildly vary. What I will eventually need though:

Rival team information. The teams I can confirm are the ones if you chose Torchic as the starter, as that was what I went with. I need the teams if you chose Treecko or Mudkip.

Trainer rematch information (including gym leaders).
