    TABLE OF CONTENTS

    LAVENDER TOWN

    Back to TOC

The intro will be a little different despite us seeing Oak. There's another professor, Rose, who refers to Oak as a grandpa, who seems to be sleeping on his usual speech. Much of it is comedy, indicating that Oak may not be remembering things well. Choose your character and your rival, ok actually that shows Prof. Rose who works with Oak. Your character is from Lavender Town this time. The PC will have the Potion as usual. Head downstairs to meet Eric (one of your friends) and mom; it's your birthday so it's time we get a Pokemon. This is before Ryan/Selena shows up (depends on your gender, Ryan if you are the girl and Selena if you are the boy, this is another friendly rival character). Before you go, mom mentions you should visit Kirlia's grave at the Pokemon Tower. You then immediately get the Running Shoes and the Town Map.

Outside, you'll realize the PokeCenter is closed and that the only way out is by the rock to the west and to the south as well. Ryan/Selena's house and Eric's house are also to the south. You cannot head south or go to the Pokemon Tower, so enter the lab to pick your starter. You have the choice of Elekid, Magby, or Gible! Very interesting choices here. You'll immediately be challenged by Ryan/Selena who will use the starter to the west of your chosen one (Magby for Gible, Elekid for Magby, Gible for Elekid).

    PKMN Trainer Ryan/Selena: (opposing starter) Lv5, P160

You then get the Pokedexes from Rose and have your new starter healed. Now you say you should head to the Pokemon Tower, so that's our next destination. Enter and go up the steps until you get to the right floor. A kid on the fourth floor will give you a Potion. Before the last floor, you'll get a prompt showing you that Kirlia's grave is second from the left. But that won't matter because as soon as you step to the last floor, an unknown person shows up. You try to challenge him...

Mysterious Man: Gengar Lv65, P260 (only added this info from the rom data)

...to an unwinnable battle. For the record, his Gengar only knows Shadow Ball and he has no items with him, but it will be more than enough due to his level compared to yours. If you win by cheating or something, the game continues as if you lost.

You'll be back home with family and friends by your side. They say a man with a white coat saved you from the battle and the resulting explosion. As if this isn't enough, you'll soon get the attention of police outside. Head out after your friends and everyone's gathered in the middle. The chief says that you all are suspects in the event. Seeing as how this chief is wagering for a battle, you step up to battle the chief.

    Police Chief Bernard: P144
    Growlithe Lv3, Ember, Leer

At least this fight can be winnable. Win it and the chief lets you pass. Eric volunteers to go to Celadon City, while Ryan/Selena goes to Route 12. Your mom's name is Nancy by the way. You then get Poke Balls. The PokeCenter is now open as well. The path west is still blocked, so Route 12 it is.

The trainer here won't battle, she's concerned about what's going on. Pick up the HP Up to the east and go west. Ryan/Selena needs your help again.

    Infected Trainer: P256
    Butterfree Lv8, Tackle

More infected trainers appear and you are surrounded, but in come three more people, two monk-like characters and Stefano, all from a clergy of sorts. Stefano seems to be a priest of some sort, he uses magic to make them all disappear. Ryan/Selena's curious about these guys, and goes off to find out.

You'll see Ryan/Selena and two reporters who just want the scoop on Route 12's incidents.

    Interviewer Jenny: Magnemite Lv7, Whismur Lv7, P336

For some reason despite the team being exactly like Gabby & Ty's from R/S/E, this isn't a double battle. They then go to Fuchsia City, which is exactly where we're going.

    ROUTE 15

    Mons found:

    • Frillish: 100% (surf)

The old man here mentions that this route and the rest of the routes between Lavender and Fuchsia were interesting, with bridges, fence labyrinths, and plenty of trainers, and he's starting to lose it. It's a shame that this route is incredibly small with nothing else of interest. Continue west.

    FUCHSIA CITY

    Back to TOC

The reporters go on ahead. Explore the south side to find the PokeCenter and PokeMart.

    PokeMart:

    • Poke Ball: P200
    • Potion: P300
    • Antidote: P100
    • Parlyz Heal: P200

Nothing on Route 19 to the south, there's a boat there plus a station and neither are accessible at the moment. You also can't head west from the PokeCenter due to a guy who is paranoid about housebreaks. Go north to see a confrontation taking place. There's some strange people here, and the name Sectum is dropped. He's the spiky-haired guy with the white face-paint. There's something interesting about this man's hair which seems familiar, but he hides his face with a mask. Ryan/Selena accidentally gets their attention. You then battle one of Sectum's grunts.

Team Nihilus Grunt: Ekans Lv9, Zubat Lv9, P168

Immediately Sectum challenges you after you beat the grunt.

Nihilus Admn Sectum: Zubat Lv10, Houndour Lv12, P960

Team Nihilus, we'll certainly be meeting them all over this hack. Anyways, once they flee, you then talk to the boy, who seems to be familiar. It's Ethan, who is the protagonist from the Johto games. The same one who is recognized as the champion of Johto. Ethan thinks they are after Johto's legendary birds Ho-Oh and Lugia. With that said, you'll be surprised to know that Ethan is actually the gym leader of this town. I wonder where Koga and Janine are? Ryan/Selena is setting themselves up for a challenge soon.

Time to explore more of the city. The guy before will let you pass to the SW side, but there's just two houses. In the right house, you can get TM16 Light Screen from the woman. The left house is the Move Deleter. Route 18 is to the west, but you can't do anything there since that route requires Surf. The house next to the gym has some very creepy people who allegedly murdered their parents. The fisherman here gives you an Old Rod. Head east to the kid near the Chansey pen and talk to him to get the Teachy TV. Enter the house east of there to find a granny who gives you the Gold Teeth and a girl who wants to trade a Zorua for a Luxio if you have the latter. Plus an X Attack on the table. The other house has nothing to note. Despite being told the Safari Zone is not open, you can enter it. There's only one area though.

Once you had your fun, let's check out the gym. The way you enter is weird, but it's a simple gym, no additional trainers, just go up to battle Ethan.

Leader Ethan: Sentret Lv12, Hoothoot Lv12, Cyndaquil Lv13 (holds Oran Berry), P1300, Adventure Badge, and TM08 Bulk Up

Ryan/Selena has already challenged and won against Ethan. Ethan also mentions that the boat on Route 19 will take you to Cinnabar Island, and her friend Lyra (the female protagonist from HG/SS) is there. You can leave the gym through the north door if you wish, or the way you came (but if you re-enter the gym, the north door will be closed, odd).

When ready, journey to the boat to see Ryan/Selena and say yes to set sail.

Eric's here, having been to Celadon and finding nothing suspicious. The scene shifts to Stefano and his monks meeting with a girl. This girl is Lyra, who Eric says is the gym leader here. Lyra argues with Stefano that his methods actually dispose of the infected. Stefano then says it's the only way before recognizing your group. You immediately are thrust into a battle against Stefano because he recognizes your "aura".

    Great Sage Stephano: P1040
    Natu Lv12, Peck, Leer
    Drowzee Lv13, Pound, Hypnosis

Well, he doesn't seem like a bad guy yet. His posse leaves with him. Lyra tells you that what she heard involves a virus that infects people and Pokemon, and that it's related to the masked men in Team Nihilus. As said earlier, the clergy which Stefano's a part of kills the infected, and he's preaching to the people. Ryan/Selena mentions the Johto birds. Lyra mentions Navel Rock. While she waits in her gym, she also mentions that there might be infected persons in the Pokemon Mansion as well. Ryan/Selena immediately goes to challenge Lyra while Eric has other things to do.

In other words, if you want to challenge Lyra first, it's not gonna happen, so you're not able to do so yet. At the south end, the scientist will give you HM05 Flash.

    PokeMart:

    • Poke Ball: P200

    • Awakening: P250
    • Burn Heal: P250
    • Escape Rope: P550
    • Repel: P300

The houses have nothing of importance, but there's a channeler in the PokeCenter who lets you teleport to and from Fuchsia City. The same one in Fuchsia's PokeCenter functions the same way. Also the guy near the channeler is a thief who has stolen some rare Pokemon, in other words the three Johto starters! You can purchase Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile for P5000, but you can only pick one. When you're all set, journey to the Pokemon Mansion.

The instant you enter, you're attacked.

    Shadow Demon Gabriel: P560
Ghost Lv14, Hypnosis, Lick, Spite, Mean Look

The "Ghost" is a Ghost/Dark mon with Levitate as its ability. So no weaknesses, hit it with what you got. Afterwards the demon flees and you have control. Head north and west to the rock pile, there's a hidden Antidote somewhere. The other item on this floor is a Poke Ball.

On the next floor, there's actually a hidden Potion just a bit SW of the steps. Another Potion is south of there. Head east next.

Shadow Demon Forneus: Ghost Lv13, Ghost Lv13, P520

They have the same moveset, typing, and ability as the previous Ghost. Another Potion is to the north, and another ambushing demon appears as you approach the next set of steps.

    Shadow Demon Eligos: Ghost Lv12, Ghost Lv12, Ghost Lv12, Ghost Lv12, P480

Another demon just before the steps.

Shadow Demon Gremory: Ghost Lv15, P600

On the next floor of the mansion is a Charcoal and a Mewtwo statue. The door's to the east, which has another ambush beforehand.

Shadow Demon Morpheus: Ghost Lv14, Ghost Lv14, P560

The statue has the switch to unlock the door. There, you see a gray girl. Go to her to talk to her for a battle.

    Ghost Girl: Ghost Lv13, Cubone Lv14, Gastly Lv15, P480

What is the ghost girl talking about as she disappears? It's a mystery. Well, time for the gym. The same layout as Fuchsia's gym? Interesting. Anyways, the guide will tell you the more you get through, the more "apprentices" (meaning gym trainers) you have to fight. In this case, Lyra has one.

Ace Trainer Nancy: Hoothoot Lv14, Larvitar Lv14, Hoothoot Lv14, P672

Leader Lyra: Hoothoot Lv14, Marill Lv15, Bayleef Lv16 (holds Oran Berry), P1600, Exploration Badge, and TM03 Water Pulse

For an easter egg, talk to Lyra again. You're welcome. The boat is on Route 21, so let's have a cruise north. You can choose to either go to Route 1 or Fuchsia City.

So apparently Pallet Town was completely destroyed by an earthquake. I was wondering why you just skipped it here. No grass yet, Ryan immediately wants to head to Viridian's gym. East of the shorts kid, you can find a hidden Great Ball. Another hidden item, a Persim Berry, is just west of the top of the steps. You then have some grass plus the middle road to Viridian City.

    Infected Trainer: Ursaring Lv18, P576

The girl on the low road gives you a mysterious egg! This hatches into a Riolu. Head up past her and inspect the NE corner to find a Razz Berry.

    Bug Maniac Brooks: Venipede Lv13, Venipede Lv13, Venipede Lv13, Venipede Lv13, Venipede Lv13, Venipede Lv13, P780

    Infected Trainer: Raticate Lv16, Pidgeot Lv16, P512

East of the PokeMart, you can talk to the officer in the house to teach Brick Break. You can get a free Escape Rope by talking to the bug catcher. There's a hidden Rare Candy in front of the windows to the nearby house. Enter the house and talk to the first person, who's missing his teeth! Yeah, it's the Safari Zone warden, so hopefully you have the Gold Teeth from Fuchsia City. He'll give you a Meteorite, and wants you to take it to Pewter City's museum. The hiker here is the Name Rater. If you go west to Route 22, you're not getting anywhere, since there's rocks to smash. And of course, the path to Viridian Forest is blocked by a resting old man. There's only one goal, the gym. This time you have two apprentice trainers to battle. Our gym leader is the familiar Brendan from Hoenn.

Ace Trainer Julia: Skitty Lv16, Azumarill Lv16, P768

    Ace Trainer Hugo: Torkoal Lv15, Taillow Lv15, Marill Lv15, Taillow Lv15, P720

Leader Brendan: Taillow Lv16, Shroomish Lv16, Torkoal Lv17, Marshtomp Lv18 (holds Oran Berry), P1800, Daydream Badge, and TM34 Shock Wave

What now? Guess we should go north, but a guy warns us about the resting old man. Talk to him anyways, he'll give you the Unown Orb. Seems like it may not be useful, what will it be? Well, Nihilus Grunts show up to attack during the conversation. Two back-to-back battles.

    Team Nihilus Grunt: Zubat Lv16, Skorupi Lv16, Skorupi Lv16, Zubat Lv16, P384

    Team Nihilus Grunt: Ekans Lv16, Venipede Lv16, Zubat Lv16, Grimer Lv16, P384

They then spill beans that they are going to Pewter City, which is where we're going too.

Burglar Donald: Meowth Lv20, Croagunk Lv20, P640 and HM01 Cut!

A Sun Stone is to the SE. You can also journey back to Route 2 to cut those trees to get a Parlyz Heal. Head north from the Sun Stone all the way.

    Burglar Jack: Meowth Lv20, Meowth Lv20, Murkrow Lv20, P640

There's another Sun Stone, hidden in the middle of the flowers behind this burglar. Continue north.

    Burglar Patrick: Yanma Lv22, P704

Pick up TM43 Secret Power and a Super Potion in the area to the north. The guy here wants a Shroomish and will trade a Scyther if you have one. It evolves at Lv47. A hidden Chesto Berry is on the second set of flowers to the east. Head west of Patrick and north.

    Burglar Joseph: Murkrow Lv19, Murkrow Lv19, Murkrow Lv19, Murkrow Lv19, Murkrow Lv19, P608

There's a hidden Pecha Berry at the north end, along with a Great Ball. Head south now and in the middle flower formation you can find a Cheri Berry. Further south...

    Burglar Leonard: Meowth Lv20, Murkrow Lv21, Croagunk Lv22, P704

To the west are two more items in dead-ends. An Antidote at the north end and a Stardust at the south end. Now make your way to the northwest end. You then get a hallucination and are back in the Pokemon Tower! Go north all the way and inspect the gravestone to hear about loneliness, well, you'll be warped back to the forest now.

    Burglar Conor: Croagunk Lv22, Croagunk Lv22, P704

I should mention that Croagunks in this game have Pressure as their ability. A Miracle Seed is just before the last gate. In the gate, the old man can heal you. On Route 2, you'll meet Oscar Toudin, I don't really think he is a reference to anything though. Then you see a happy youngster jump the ledge on the way to the Viridian Forest. Head north now and in the empty space in the NE corner, you can get a Pecha Berry. The last item here is TM32 Double Team.

Climb the steps and head west first. In the house, you can get TM17 Protect from the hiker. You'll soon hear about mysterious men taking over the museum. You can't head east due to the grunt and officer talking, and the gym's also unavailable. Police are also around, and you can get a Hoenn starter from a shady guy here (again, only one). The guy in the NE house can give you the Good Rod. Behind the PokeCenter, pick up an Exp. Share from the aide. In the house west of the museum, a kid wants to give you two Moon Stones, but he accidentally uses one on his Jigglypuff and it evolves into a Wigglytuff, so you only get one. East of the main museum entrance, cut the tree and talk to the scientist in the back to deliver the Meteorite, he'll give you the Ruby in return. He says that a burglar in Celadon's Police Dept. wants it, so that's our next location of interest soon. The SE scientist can teach Seismic Toss. Are you ready to free the museum from the front? Already there are some grunts on the first floor.

Team Nihilus Grunt: Zubat Lv20, Zubat Lv20, Durant Lv20, P480

Team Nihilus Grunt: Ekans Lv20, Golbat Lv22, P528

Team Nihilus Grunt: Zubat Lv20, Skorupi Lv21, Gliscor Lv22, P528

This grunt says that Sectum is upstairs. We actually see the guy, along with another person who he's arguing with (looks like Steven but with gold hair). Another person shows up, seems to be on Sectum's side by the attire, her name is Imperio. She then sees you, and Sectum battles the guy while you battle Imperio.

    Nihilus Admin Imperio: Golbat Lv22, Ariados Lv21, Froslass Lv22, Sneasel Lv23, P1840

Sectum also loses, but before our gold-haired dude reveals himself, the grunts got the fossils and Nihilus gets out of there. The guy goes to you, notices you've gotten stronger, and heals you. Also he says he recognizes you from Pokemon Tower. It seems he's the one who saved you from the mysterious man before. He doesn't reveal his real name, but he calls himself Lumos. He's intent on getting to the bottom of Team Nihilus, and uses a magic trick to disappear. But we don't get a chance to get control as the police chief Bernard has come in thinking you're the criminal here.

Police Chief Bernard: Ponyta Lv21, Growlithe Lv21, Jolteon Lv22, P1056

Before you're taken away by the other officers, a familiar face comes in to bail you out. It's May, and I think you can guess at this point she's a gym leader, of this city of course. She clearly states to our chief that there were masked weirdos. And are you wearing a mask in this case? Either way, Bernard will be watching you. May then basically tells you that she's awaiting a challenge. Since we're done here, we'll be challenging the gym! Remember, as the fourth gym, there are three more trainers before May to deal with.

Ace Trainer Lola: Taillow Lv20, Wingull Lv20, P960

Ace Trainer Bruno: Shroomish Lv22, Torkoal Lv23, Shroomish Lv22, P1056

Ace Trainer Sheila: Delcatty Lv24, P1152

Leader May: Trapinch Lv24, Breloom Lv25, Combusken Lv26 (holds Oran Berry), P2600, Euphoria Badge, and TM11 Sunny Day

When ready, head to Route 3.

    Youngster Terry: Nidorino Lv24, Nidorina Lv24, P384

Go through the gate and enter the PokeCenter. Talk to the youngster to get Poke Balls, and the Magikarp salesman is here too, except he'll just give it to you for free because he wants to leave Kanto. Attempt to enter Mt. Moon and Eric greets you, along with Ryan/Selena, who wants to battle. Parentheses for this battle shows what their team is depending on your starter (so if you chose Elekid, it will be the top team for instance).

    PKMN Trainer Ryan/Selena: P896
    Azumarill Lv25, Breloom Lv26, Darumaka Lv25, Gabite Lv28 (Elekid)
    Azumarill Lv25, Solosis Lv25, Darumaka Lv26, Elekid Lv28 (Magby)
    Azumarill Lv25, Breloom Lv26, Solosis Lv25, Magby Lv28 (Gible)

Looks like we're all going to Mt. Moon.

East and north first for a Moon Stone, as well as another (hidden) Moon Stone in the NE corner.

    Infected Trainer: Ursaring Lv30, P960

Now head around the entrance to the left.

    Infected Trainer: Victreebel Lv26, Ursaring Lv26, Victreebel Lv26, Pidgeot Lv26, P832

There's yet another Moon Stone to the north. There's also a hidden glitch item between the craters, don't bother inspecting it it gives you nothing.

    Infected Trainer: Butterfree Lv26, Beedrill Lv26, Pidgeot Lv26, P832

    Infected Trainer: Raticate Lv26, Raticate Lv26, Raticate Lv26, P832

    Infected Trainer: Raticate Lv26, Raticate Lv26, Butterfree Lv26, Beedrill Lv26, P832

Get the Star Piece, then all the way west to get a Super Potion before taking the cave entrance to the next floor near the last trainer. Hmm, the clergy is here. Pick up a Repel before the first trainer.

Elder Sage Gabriel: Slowpoke Lv28, Girafarig Lv28, Xatu Lv28, P1120

Elder Sage Alexander: Slowpoke Lv28, Solosis Lv28, P1120

An X Attack is on the way. Keep going west to see a clergyman attacking an infected trainer. Head up and before the step, head east and inspect the rock to get a Tinymushroom. Get up the steps, get a Nugget, and head north to fight some infected trainers back-to-back.

    Infected Trainer: Ursaring Lv28, Ursaring Lv28, P896

    Infected Trainer: Victreebel Lv30, P960

Two more infected trainers come to surround you, but Stefano comes to the rescue. Yeah, is he following us or what?

    Great Sage Stefano: Xatu Lv28, Hypno Lv28, Bronzor Lv29, Kadabra Lv30, P2400

Now we get a little argument on what's true and whether or not the church is really good. But who are we kidding, it's time to continue our adventure. Take the ladder. First, get the Tinymushroom to the NW, then get the Escape Rope and another TM48 Skill Swap. Take the cave, go to the ladder, and pick up a Nugget before you confront Para and Dox, a duo.

    Ninja Duo Para&Dox: Hitmonlee Lv28, Hitmonchan Lv28, Throh Lv30, Sawk Lv30, P4800 (double battle)

They're still here? They say you should pick a route, but either way you go, you will enter an Underground Maze where you can wander for eternity. Well, actually, you just need to first go to the NW corner in this maze (no random encounters).

And you're in Cerulean! Your friends, including Lumos, are here. He takes you all to the lab where they inspect infected Pokemon and trainers. Doing the research lends no good results yet, so Lumos suggests you go to the gym. You can head south to Route 5 if you wish.

I'm mentioning the south route now because the day care is here. After the events in Route 25, you won't be back here for a while. Back to Cerulean City. At the SE end is the bike shop, where the owner is standing on the counter, monologuing, then gives you the Bicycle for free. Thanks! He then disappears into the wall for some reason. The east side is blocked by rocks. Also I'm not sure why there's grass here. The grass doesn't contain any Pokemon. In the PokeMart, a guy will trade a Larvitar if you have a Raichu.

    PokeMart:

    • Great Ball: P600

    • Revive: P1500
    • Full Heal: P600

    • Max Repel: P700

And Route 24 is also blocked, by some kids training. Nothing of note inside the PokeCenter, though a girl mentions that there are two invisible people inside a library. Important information for later? The only thing to do is challenge the gym. The leader is Lucas, the male character from the Sinnoh games. He has four apprentices, but the gym guide gives you important advice: if you lose to the leader, you don't need to battle the apprentices again. Furthermore, something I didn't notice until now, the leaders and apprentice trainers up to this point have been using Pokemon native to their region (Ethan and Lyra use Johto mons, Brendan and May use Hoenn mons, this time we have those native to Sinnoh).

Ace Trainer Eddie: Staravia Lv30, Luxio Lv30, P1440

He mentions a masked dude went to Bill's cottage right here. Inside we see a dismembered Bill. Ryan/Selena and Lumos also come in after you read the warning message. Lumos then gets an emergency call. As it stands, your friends will go and well there's nothing you can do here. Time to return to the city. And when you return, look at what has happened to the lab and look at the characters there. Ryan/Selena and Lumos see one of the scientists, Richard, being confronted by Sectum. Sectum basically murders the scientist in front of us and boasts about how Team Nihilus only really does these things out of boredom. Enough is enough.

    Nihilus Admin Sectum: Crobat Lv33, Absol Lv35, Pawniard Lv34, Houndoom Lv36, P2880

And of course he runs, with Lumos following. You along with Ryan/Selena are left here and of course, the freakin' police have to show up to further incriminate you two, having made investigations at the Pokemon Tower, Bill's Cottage, and now this incident. No battle though, you just go straight to Police HQ.

    POLICE H.Q.

    Back to TOC

Go to the door and a visitor shows up. A dark stranger who gives you a holy bible. You open it for a really convenient Card Key. The first thing to do is go to the center of the west wall to find a hidden PP Up. Go ahead and open the cell door across from you to find a burglar who likes jail. He has Sapphires and if you have a Ruby, you can trade, he even mentions the old woman on Route 24 for convenience! You'll also find a Poke Doll near the steps, plus you can free the other two burglars and they scram. Take the steps and prepare to battle officers.

    Officer Ali: Krokorok Lv32, Krokorok Lv32, Krokorok Lv32, P768

    A Super Potion is here.

    Officer Gilmore: Krokorok Lv33, Ponyta Lv33, P792

And now a Max Ether. A girl to the west is a healer, so make use of these services as you battle officers.

    Officer Black: Marowak Lv32, Ponyta Lv33, Growlithe Lv33, P792

Get the rather appropriate TM46 Thief in the corner and ignore the teleporter for now. Enter the north room for more officers.

    Officer Hartley: Growlithe Lv33, Growlithe Lv33, P792

    Officer Spade: Marowak Lv33, Krokorok Lv33, P792

    Officer Mordecai: Marowak Lv34, Marowak Lv34, P816

    Officer Andrew: Jolteon Lv36, P864

Another Max Ether is here, along with Prof. Rose's aide who came to break you out. He'll give you an Itemfinder. There are three teleporters now. The one near you, as well as the one near the SW corner of the room, lead to the same area with two officers and two items.

    Officer Joshua: Growlithe Lv33, Growlithe Lv33, P792

    Officer Harris: Krokorok Lv33, Growlithe Lv33, P792

The items here are an X Speed and a Nugget. Now get to the teleporter at the NW end.

    Officer Porky: Growlithe Lv32, Growlithe Lv32, Growlithe Lv32, P768

Get the Moon Stone and ignore the gap below between the crates because it's a glitch item. Head west and there's an officer who's not a battler, but will trade you a Braviary if you have a Skarmory. Remember him for later. Get the Hyper Potion and go up the steps. We're almost out but we have an annoying invisible maze. Here's how to get through it:

East all the way, north as much as you can, west two, north two, west to the wall, north, east, north to the wall, east seven, south, east, and south to the teleporter.

    Officer Tate: Ponyta Lv32, Ponyta Lv32, Ponyta Lv32, Ponyta Lv32, Ponyta Lv32, P768

    Officer Julian: Growlithe Lv34, Krokorok Lv34, P816

Get TM23 Iron Tail. Yeah, you have to battle Para and Dox again. They've been hired to help out.

    Ninja Duo Para&Dox: Throh Lv34, Sawk Lv34, Solrock Lv35, Lunatone Lv35, Hitmonlee Lv36, Hitmonchan Lv36, P5760 (double battle)

Once more you're in an underground maze. No encounters again, make your way to the south side and find a path going north and east, around, which will return you to a new section of Police H.Q. Here, get the Calcium and TM06 Toxic. Head up to battle more officers in back-to-back battles.

    Officer Frank: Ponyta Lv34, Jolteon Lv35, P840

    Officer Edmond: Marowak Lv34, Krokorok Lv35, P840

In comes a stronger officer butting in. After the others leave, you battle him.

The Guardian Of The Door: Ponyta Lv34, Krokorok Lv35, Arcanine Lv38, Jolteon Lv36, P2880

    Finally, freedom.

You're in Celadon City now. We'll detour west to Route 16 first.

Exploring the city takes precedence today. Officers, clergymen, and infected trainers exist. Head east of the higher ground and north to a thin path and at the dead end is a hidden PP Up. Avoid the north area with two fountains for now. The Rocket Game Corner has some of these guys gambling, and you can too, as the NW officer gives you the Coin Case. And also, you can get a Sinnoh starter from one of the guys here! For P20000 though. The exchange corner is to the east.

The rooftop of course has the vending machines.

The gym is blocked by a battling trainer and an officer. There's a building to the SE which seems to have the leader of this place, but she can't do anything right now. You can go east to Route 7 if you want, but there's no grass and Saffron City is closed. The Underground Path is open and leads back to Route 5 and Cerulean City if you need something there. In the Underground Path, there are a number of hidden items, so from top to bottom: an Antidote, a Parlyz Heal, an Awakening, a Potion, an Ice Heal, and a Burn Heal.

When ready, return to Celadon and go to the north square to see your allies with the clergy. Yeah, they're calling out the clergy as they are not actually curing the infected, they're killing them. Lumos comes in, and takes you to his lab. This is the same place that the leader of the place is in. Talk to him and he'll scoff at you considering you're a wanted person by just about all parties. He then talks about the results of research, which aren't as conclusive as they ought to be, but there might be an extremely powerful Pokemon behind this entire plot. Lumos wants to get through with his investigation, while all you gotta do is get badges. The leader here by the way is Dawn; you might've guessed this considering Lucas was the previous leader and we're up to 6. You get healed, and now you actually get to battle Dawn here considering the situation preventing us from going to the gym.

Leader Dawn: Staraptor Lv35, Luxray Lv34, Roserade Lv36, Lucario Lv37, Empoleon Lv38, P3800, Awe Badge, and TM13 Ice Beam

A war is on the horizon? Yes, you MUST get all the badges, according to Lumos, seems to be a plot thing. A scientist opens the back door now. You're to go there, but before you do another scientist comes in showing the infected have seemingly won here and are on their way. They come in, and you need to take the passage to get to Saffron.

The leftmost path leads back to Route 19, which you can use to go back to Fuchsia City. The easternmost one presumably goes to Vermillion, but it's blocked by an officer, meaning you should take the second one from the right.

You emerge in Copycat's house. Weird! Leave and go east first. Route 5 is to the north and is now open, as for the gym, well, Sabrina is now an unholy demon. The guy who blocks the gym gives you TM44 Rest.

Yeah, so this place is run by monks. Also there's a boulder in front of the central HQ there. You can head west to Route 7 as well, but you need to head to the NW part of the city to see a cutscene. People are worried about ghouls surrounding the city (although you can head to the west or north without issue). And well you really want to defeat the clergy now.

It's not evident what to do next, but if you've been doing the fetch quest, you're on the right track. You should have, as of this point, the Sapphire. If you don't, get the Gold Teeth from Fuchsia City, deliver it to the warden at the trainer school in Viridian City, deliver the Meteorite he gives you to a scientist in Pewter City (cut a tree to the alternate entrance to the museum), give the Ruby to a burglar in the cell south of yours at Police HQ, and you should have the Sapphire. If you remember, there was a granny on Route 24 who wanted a Sapphire. Deliver the Sapphire and you will receive Tea, which you must deliver to her grandson on Route 10. That's east of Cerulean, but you can actually go there now since the rocks are no longer in the way!

Clearly he needs this ticket. What does he give you? Why, it's HM03 Surf! Wonderful, teach it right away. Anyways, the guy north of him mentions that you should check out Seafoam Islands to get a rare HM, which is exactly what we need for this next part. But we might wanna detour for a second and check out a few more routes. The one we're going with first is Route 17, south of Route 16. The next two rooms have nothing, the one after those has two burglars.

    Burglar Edgar: Persian Lv38, Yanmega Lv38, Toxicroak Lv38, P1216

    Burglar Phil: Murkrow Lv38, Persian Lv38, P1216

Two more burglars in the next room, plus TM49 Snatch

    Burglar Jeff: Yanmega Lv42, P1344

The other guy here can give you one of the Unova starters, for a whopping P100000. The last room has nothing. The kitchen to the SW has monks for some reason, as well as TM27 Return. Now to the next floor using the steps.

    Burglar Dalton: Murkrow Lv38, Murkrow Lv38, P1216

    Burglar Nelson: Murkrow Lv36, Murkrow Lv36, Persian Lv36, Persian Lv36, P1152

    Burglar Kirk: Persian Lv37, Murkrow Lv37, Yanmega Lv37, P1184

    Burglar Shawn: Yanmega Lv38, Yanmega Lv38, P1216

The steps here will lead to the boss room, it seems. But we're not going to it yet, we'll check out the rooms from right to left and then the left set of steps. First room on the right has one burglar.

    Burglar Benny: Yanmega Lv40, Yanmega Lv40, P1280

Two burglars in the next room over.

    Burglar Robert: Toxicroak Lv38, Yanmega Lv38, Toxicroak Lv38, P1216

    Burglar Donald: Yanmega Lv42, P1344

Two more burglars in the next room over. This room has a Leftovers.

    Burglar Sebastian: Murkrow Lv38, Toxicroak Lv38, P1216

    Burglar Perry: Murkrow Lv40, P1280

Nothing in the next room, so go to the next one. There's a Hyper Potion in this room and one burglar.

    Burglar John: Persian Lv38, Persian Lv38, Persian Lv38, Persian Lv38, P1216

And the last room has a grumpy nurse. As grumpy as she is she is a great source to heal at! So heal your Pokemon with her. The steps to the west lead to the bow of the ship, where there are more silly monks. Nothing of actual importance, so let's go back to where the burglar was at the NE end and take those steps instead. In the captain's room, you will see the 19th burglar inspecting a trashcan. Inspect it first for a Leftovers. This is the boss burglar, the one who's men you've been battling for a while. After the long monologue of how they just wanted the ship for vacation and wanting to go to Hoenn by nightfall, you battle him. Be prepared, he's extremely tough (note that this entire S.S. Anne quest is optional, so you might want to train a long way before battling this guy).

    Burglar Ultima: Deoxys Lv70, P2240

Yep, a Lv70 Deoxys. It does have very low defense and HP and its main moves will not affect a Ghost/Dark type at all if that can also help. After this guy rants and leaves, pick up the item there, the fruit of our labor: HM02 Fly! Finally! Leave and let's continue on Route 17.

    Swimmer Becky: Luvdisc Lv37, Clamperl Lv37, P888

People on the island seem to be stranded on them after the burglars dumped them overboard.

TM40 Aerial Ace is in the NW corner. Ignore the ladder and go east first. At certain intervals, you will get ambushed by Frost Demons, who use the Ice Ghost fakemon, which appropriately is Ice/Ghost typing and has Ice Beam, Hypnosis, Destiny Bond, and Shadow Ball, with Shadow Tag as the ability. The first one is coming at you right now, and there are two more to the right before the ladder.

Frost Demon Ayack: Ice Ghost Lv40, Ice Ghost Lv40, Ice Ghost Lv40, Ice Ghost Lv40, Ice Ghost Lv40, P1600

Frost Demon Aldrich: Ice Ghost Lv42, Ice Ghost Lv42, Ice Ghost Lv42, P1680

Frost Demon Bodegas: Ice Ghost Lv43, Ice Ghost Lv43, P1720

The ladder leads to a dead end with one Frost Demon attacking you.

Frost Demon Sabithos: Ice Ghost Lv43, Ice Ghost Lv43, P1720

Backtrack to the last ladder and take it this time.

Frost Demon Oras: Ice Ghost Lv41, Ice Ghost Lv41, Ice Ghost Lv41, P1640

Head around on the left side for a Macho Brace, then to the middle. There are three Frost Demons to trigger here.

Frost Demon D' Al Aroth: Ice Ghost Lv41, Ice Ghost Lv44, Ice Ghost Lv41, P1640

Frost Demon Ymir: Ice Ghost Lv42, Ice Ghost Lv42, P1680

Frost Demon Or' Dah: Ice Ghost Lv42, Ice Ghost Lv42, Ice Ghost Lv42, P1680

Take the ladder, then head east to find the other exit to Seafoam Islands and one of Rose's aides. He gives you the Amulet Coin. Back on the third floor, get a Big Pearl and a Repel before taking the down ladder. Get ready for another Frost Demon.

Frost Demon Reevos: Ice Ghost Lv45, P1800

A Max Ether is down here. Head west.

Frost Demon D' Arc: Ice Ghost Lv43, Ice Ghost Lv43, P1720

Before you reach the monk, head east for one last Frost Demon.

Frost Demon Mantis: Ice Ghost Lv43, Ice Ghost Lv43, P1720

Go to the monk who seems to be going to the item, before the Frost Demon in hiding comes in and kills him. Then it comes after you.

Frost Demon Gar' Os: Ice Ghost Lv41, Ice Ghost Lv43, Ice Ghost Lv45, Ice Ghost Lv47, P1880

That item is HM04 Strength. This is of course what you've been searching for. Now with it, we can go back to Saffron City and enter the central building! But before that, once you get Strength, an older man comes and talks about Articuno once being here. He then gives you TM13 Ice Beam. To Saffron! Move the boulder and let's confront the clergy.

    CLERGY H.Q. [CLER]

    Back to TOC

There's nothing interesting on the first floor, or is there? In between the four tables is a hidden Ultra Ball. Head NE and onto a teleporter.

Elder Sage Albert: Alakazam Lv42, Slowbro Lv42, Hypno Lv42, P1680

West to get a Hyper Potion, then south and west to an intersection. North first.

Elder Sage Phillip: Alakazam Lv45, P1800

There are two teleporters here, head south instead of taking them.

Elder Sage Dylan: Hypno Lv42, Xatu Lv42, Girafarig Lv42, P1680

A hidden Elixir is two spaces west of the south statue here (by the way the statues don't do anything). There's only one teleporter here. If you take it, it's just an empty room with two teleporters, and if you take the other teleporter, it just leads to 2F again where the two teleporters are (where sage Phillip is). In other words, the teleporter you need is the one to the right of him. You're on 6F now, with five teleporters, an HP Up, a Choice Band, and two monks.

    Elder Sage Monroe: Medicham Lv42, Medicham Lv42, Medicham Lv42, Medicham Lv42, P1680

Elder Sage Rodger: Medicham Lv45, P1800

You came out of the SW teleporter. The NW teleporter takes you to the NW teleporter in a long room with three other teleporters. The NE teleporter takes you to a room with another teleporter and a monk.

Elder Sage Oswald: Slowbro Lv42, Bronzong Lv42, Medicham Lv42, P1680

The other teleporter here leads to that long room with four teleporters, the third of them being the one you come out of. Return to the room of five teleporters now. SE teleporter leads to 8F. South teleporter leads to 4F, take this one for now.

Elder Sage Hamilton: Slowbro Lv45, P1800

Head west and to the NW teleporter to find a dead end room.

Elder Sage Huxley: Girafarig Lv43, Girafarig Lv43, P1720

The item here is a Poke Flute. Use this statue for the secret switch and return to 4F. Head south now.

Elder Sage Landon: Xatu Lv43, Hypno Lv43, P1720

Here is an Escape Rope, TM41 Torment, and two teleporters. South one leads to 8F (same room as the one from the five-teleporter room), and the north leads to that long room with four teleporters. Stay in 4F and head south of sage Hamilton to get a Max Revive. Heading east now.

Elder Sage Kipling: Mr. Mime Lv42, Girafarig Lv42, Xatu Lv42, Slowbro Lv42, P1680

Elder Sage Christopher: Slowbro Lv43, Reuniclus Lv43, P1720

Pick up a Twistedspoon in the NW room. The teleporter takes you to a room on 7F with four teleporters, a Carbos, and a monk.

Elder Sage Roosevelt: Medicham Lv43, Reuniclus Lv43, P1720

The NE teleporter takes you to the last teleporter in the long room. The SE teleporter takes you to the NW teleporter in the same room, but if you take the NW teleporter, you'll go to a different part of 7F.

Elder Sage Thurston: Mr. Mime Lv42, Alakazam Lv42, Alakazam Lv42, Slowbro Lv42, P1680

Here is an X Special and another teleporter. Ignore it for now and go west to the woman who is an important healer. West is another teleporter and another monk.

Elder Sage Howard: Girafarig Lv45, P1800

Go back to the teleporter you ignored to go to 6F where a monk awaits.

Elder Sage Neval: Bronzong Lv43, Alakazam Lv43, P1720

Just another teleporter here and a Protein. The other teleporter takes you to the other part of 8F. Instead, we'll backtrack to 7F and take the west teleporter to the other part of 8F which has four teleporters, emerging from the SW teleporter.

Elder Sage Goodwin: Xatu Lv42, Girafarig Lv42, Mr. Mime Lv42, P1680

Here's a Zinc. NW teleporter leads back to the SW teleporter on 4F. NE teleporter leads to the long room on the second teleporter from the left. SE teleporter leads back to 6F. Return to 7F and take the other teleporter leading to 6F, then to the other side of 8F.

Elder Sage Gaylord: Mr. Mime Lv43, Hypno Lv43, P1720

And here we go again with Para and Dox.

    Ninja Duo Para&Dox: Throh Lv44, Sawk Lv44, Solrock Lv45, Lunatone Lv45, Hitmonlee Lv47, Hitmonchan Lv47, P7520 (double battle)

And unfortunately after yet another dumb conversation, you are back in the underground maze. You're in the NW corner and the ladder is in the NE corner, make your way there. You'll then be in a void room. Head SE to find a mirror. Inspect it. You'll transport to Lavender Town. The signs are creepy, and entering places will just spit you out.

This part is complicated, if you get it wrong, you'll warp to the center of town. You'll know when you do not go to the center of town that you're going through this correctly. First, re-enter your house (NW house if you forgot) to appear in the SW house. Then enter the lab to appear out of the south house. Re-enter the house you came out of to be at the NW house. Then enter the tower. You'll be back at the mirror. A shadow shows up to tell you to come closer before it morphs to the little girl from the mansion. In comes Stephano, who tells you that this is the Oblivion Mirror. After more talking and looking at the mirror, you emerge from bed. Head downstairs. If you attempt to head outside, you will be back upstairs. Talk to "mom" and she'll disappear while you get backlash. Stephano comes in and says it's okay before you are warped back to Clergy HQ. He asks you what you saw in the mirror, and you mention "that creature". Also you mention the little girl, who is an enemy or a friend? Who knows. He believes that it is a guardian angel of some kind. He also says he sees his precious child in the mirror, someone who has beaten the Kanto League before dying. What is about to happen? An Armageddon? Stephano wishes to battle you once again. He also reveals he is the gym leader of Saffron City too, so you'll get your seventh badge by defeating him.

Leader Stephano: Xatu Lv46, Bronzong Lv46, Medicham Lv45, Alakazam Lv47, Metagross Lv48 (holds Oran Berry), P4800, Faith Badge, and TM29 Return

And now story time. Stephano talks about the history of the world. About Arceus and Unown, then the rest of the legendaries. You then mention the Unown Orb you have and he also mentions a prototype Pokemon. Unown have banished this prototype to a different dimension, yet it managed to free itself from that dimension. The scriptures refer to this prototype as Missing Number (MissingNo), the 000 entry. This is what is in fact creating the virus mutating the trainers and Pokemon around here. Team Nihilus is attempting to use that power too. Soon, Lumos comes in, attempting to confirm things. Team Nihilus seems to have scars to prevent their own from being diseased. The conversation is interrupted as we hear that the enemy has breached Saffron, and Stephano finds out something strange is occurring in Vermillion at the same time. We're supposed to go there, and Stephano reasons that he will stay here and fight. Just save the world, basically. Lumos tells you that the last badge, given by Hilda, is at Vermillion, the last city we'll be heading to.

Anyways, the Bible is on the desk, and the teleporter Stephano went into leads back to 8F. Use it to go back to heal with the woman from before or the Saffron PokeCenter or perhaps go to the PokeMart to get some stuff, because our next trek will be rather long. When ready, enter the pit to the south in the last room.

Shadow Demon Cain: Ghost Lv46, Ghost Lv46, Ghost Lv46, P1840

    East for another one.

Shadow Demon Dzoavits: Ghost Lv47, Ghost Lv47, P1880

Take the ladder and pick up the Rare Candy. South and west now.

    Shadow Demon Leyak: Ghost Lv46, Ghost Lv46, Ghost Lv46, Ghost Lv46, P1840

Go north and northeast all the way. There's a Nugget next to the ladder. Back to the first floor. SW of the ladder is an Escape Rope. Head all the way SE to get an Awakening. North to the next demon.

Shadow Demon Asura: Ghost Lv47, Ghost Lv47, P1880

A hidden Big Mushroom is near the ladder. Take it and head west and a bit SW.

Shadow Demon Morpheus: Ghost Lv47, Ghost Lv47, P1880

North to the ladder. We're almost there, so head south.

Shadow Demon Hantu Raya: Ghost Lv50, P2000

Not only is Vermillion City just full of glitch tiles, there's also Team Nihilus around too. This is crazy! Go to the PokeCenter to the left first to heal, you probably were hurting for a while now. When you leave, you'll be out of a different building. Go a bit east of it and then north to return to the PokeCenter. Yeah, some of these grunts are out and about.

Team Nihilus Grunt: Drapion Lv52, P1248

Team Nihilus Grunt: Crobat Lv48, Durant Lv48, Sharpedo Lv48, P1152

A grunt blocks a building to the east. Go a space down from him and two spaces east to find a hidden PP Up. To the east, a grunt is converting a trainer, who is then ordered to attack you if you talk to either of them.

    Infected Stage 2: Victreebel Lv50, Ursaring Lv52, Raticate Lv50, P1600

And he'll suicidally get the grunt and they both die. Nice. If you head south to the two grunts, they won't battle, nor will they let you pass to the right. Go to the PokeCenter to heal if necessary, leave, then re-enter the building you came out of, which resembles the Pokemon Fan Club. There's no other place to go anyways, as the gym is also blocked. Two grunts are preparing to kill the last mayor in Kanto, until you step in.

    Team Nihilus Grunt: Crobat Lv47, Scolipede Lv48, Muk Lv48, Drapion Lv47, P1128

During this, the mayor's wife gets turned into an infected. Also you'll learn that Imperio is at the harbor. Then the grunts leave with the infected. Turns out Hilda is the daughter of the mayor and she's trying to defeat Imperio. Time to head there. This time you can go near the two grunts, who are accosting more civilians and a little girl turns into an infected. You battle a grunt.

    Team Nihilus Grunt: Arbok Lv47, Crobat Lv47, Crobat Lv47, Muk Lv47, P1128

These grunts leave. Go to the grunt blocking the PokeMart and battle him so you can open it up.

Team Nihilus Grunt: Durant Lv48, Durant Lv48, Durant Lv48, P1152

    PokeMart:

    • Ultra Ball: P1200
    • Great Ball: P600
    • Hyper Potion: P1200
    • Revive: P1500
    • Full Heal: P600
    • Escape Rope: P550
    • Max Repel: P700

Leaving the mart takes you to a house east of the harbor. In any case, you have nowhere else to actually go, so head to the harbor now. Two grunts will accost you when you try to pass them.

Team Nihilus Grunt: Crobat Lv48, Durant Lv48, Drapion Lv48, P1152

Well you will battle only one of them. Head to the harbor and you'll see Ryan/Selena watching Hilda and Imperio talk. When you interfere, yep, she's surprised that you know about MissingNo. The conversation gets aggressive but obviously this means we'll be fighting Imperio again.

    Nihilus Admin Imperio: Crobat Lv52, Ariados Lv51, Froslass Lv53, Weavile Lv55, Espeon Lv53, P4240

Seems she is more than lost. Her scar shines and she will flee with the remaining grunts to the Sevii Islands. After she leaves, Hilda thanks you for the work, and you're sorry for what happened to her mother but there's no time for that. Furthermore, yes, there's darkness in your soul from the Unown Orb as well as the situation that will unfold in the Sevii Islands will be more severe real soon. Hilda thinks the legendaries will be involved. Get ready by healing up and buying stuff, and then talk to the sailor to set sail.

Again you only battle one. Time to give chase. But Hilda gets a call and has to return to the mayor.

GLITCH: I'm usually going to avoid glitches due to the fact that this game's plot involves famous Pokemon glitches, however after this cutscene my character changed to the male one. Team Nihilus Elite: Haxorus Lv55, P1320

Seems they've already gotten to Moltres. Now to Navel Rock, they say. Ryan/Selena shows up and confirms this for us. So we might as well head that way.

    NAVEL ROCK

    Back to TOC

Meet Ryan/Selena and then you are ready to battle some grunts at the entrance. Instead they will rant to waste your time and two more grunts show up behind you. You'll then tell Ryan/Selena to hold them off while you go straight in. Much of the layout here is the exact same. Go down or up? The answer is up, because if you go down to where Lugia would normally be, there's nothing. Climb up for a cutscene involving Sectum. He's mad that Ho-Oh isn't here. Imperio then comes from below, apparently she sought for Lugia and it's not here either (even if you went down first). You'll also see the name Sonorous mentioned. Your character comes in now, ready for battle (and in case you're wondering, yeah, Sectum has Moltres already, but what does Imperio have?). Ryan/Selena shows up to help too. They bring the legendaries, and it's revealed that Imperio has Articuno. While Ryan/Selena battles Sectum, you're up against Imperio.

    Nihilus Admin Imperio: Crobat Lv52, Froslass Lv53, Espeon Lv53, Ariados Lv51, Weavile Lv55, Articuno Lv56, P4480

It seems that Imperio is suffering in a way. In any case, Sectum wins against Ryan/Selena and he immediately attacks you next.

    Nihilus Admin Sectum: Crobat Lv52, Scizor Lv53, Bisharp Lv53, Absol Lv51, Houndoom Lv55, Moltres Lv56, P4480

Sectum's mask breaks. Wait, is that Eric? Some people playing this probably thought this was the case due to the matching hairs. So he was a bad guy the whole time. He wants to leave with Imperio, but she starts panicking. In an attempt, you try to get at Imperio, but both she and Eric disappear. There is another executive on the island, and Ryan/Selena mentions Quest Island, the island of Unown. Otherwise known as Seven Island if you remember. They plan to summon MissingNo, and while you seem to be the hero with the Unown Orb, you're reminded that they want to defeat you to get the orb. Ryan/Selena reasons they are not as good as you and will quit, but you motivate them enough, so I guess they'll be by our side for this endgame moment. Leave Navel Rock now. You'll be told to go to Seven Island (if you want to go back, go to Seven Island and talk to the sailor again to go to Vermillion City).

Before this apparition gives you the power of the scar, the little ghost girl from before disposes of this guy before quickly disappearing. Leave now and head back to the last grunt on Sevault Canyon, where the civilian is gone now.

The ghost girl reminds you that there's not much time left and the commander is on one of the islands here. The correct one is the easternmost island, but of course, you can catch Unown in the chambers if you want. In any case, the easternmost chamber, the Monean Chamber, is our goal. Inside, you'll see the guy, spouting gibberish dialogue seemingly to no one. This is Sonorous, by the way. Quite an evil guy and he knows it and he applauds your bravery. Plus your Unown Orb is the last thing he needs for the ceremony. He has Zapdos and it rains inside the place before your battle.

    Nihilus Admin Sonorous: Crobat Lv55, Spiritomb Lv56, Sigilyph Lv56, Shedinja Lv54, Cofagrigus Lv55, Zapdos Lv57, P4560

Surely insane, this man is. In comes Imperio, Eric, and Ryan/Selena, who is a hostage. The bargain is our friend for the Unown Orb. The others seem to be losing their scars, but they still have Ryan/Selena. You have a Poke Ball ready, but Ryan/Selena will say that if you take a bad action everyone will die except for the three bad guys. The ghost girl arrives in the nick of time and tells you what to do, have Eric stab Ryan/Selena, in a rather evil tone. This surprises our villains. Still more messages to the villains to straight up do it, before Lumos arrives to reinforce us and go after Sonorous. Imperio and Sonorous are in panic and Eric has fainted; the villains soon run. Lumos then heals you and leaves with Ryan/Selena. Outside, it seems we got a call from Hilda, as Vermillion is still glitched. Some MissingNo stuff is still going on there. Time to head back! At the harbor, you can now choose to go to Vermillion, One Island, and Navel Rock, as well as Seven Island of course.

    VERMILLION CITY (revisited)

    Back to TOC

Meet Lumos and Ryan/Selena at the dock and Hilda shows up. The problem is, where could our culprit be hiding? You get a flashback, remember that other masked guy from the beginning that beat you with a Gengar? It has to be that guy. Way back in Lavender Town. And Lumos also remembers it as the time you got saved by him. Everyone agrees now, but Hilda also tells you to go to the gym to challenge her. Hilda will stay in Vermillion to handle this situation, while Ryan/Selena will go to Saffron to help the monks. Lumos will go to the caves around here.

When you have control, you should know the gym is to the SW. However, if you go to the north end of the city, there's a building you can enter. This one leads back to the Underground Path, which was the entrance previously blocked by an officer from before. When you're ready, it's time to get that last badge! Enter the gym, no extra trainers here because, well, obviously.

Leader Hilda: Braviary Lv55, Chandelure Lv56, Conkeldurr Lv57, Excadrill Lv57, Emboar Lv58, P5800, Courage Badge, and TM26 Earthquake

You have to leave the way you came and when you do, you'll end up somehow going to the dock. When you're all set and ready, go to the Lavender Town.

Yep, the glitchiness has shown up here too!

GLITCH: Yes, a glitch inside the glitchy area. But I don't think this was an intended moment that had happened here. When I attempted to go back to the NW house, I triggered the cutscene where you battle the police chief Bernard and his Lv3 Growlithe again.

And speaking of going back to your house, it seems the inside of the house is fine and you can heal with mom if you need to. You can't enter the Pokemon Tower though, and these infected trainers don't actually battle you or anything. You can enter the lab, where Rose mentions Lumos is also there and for some reason your mom is also in here and you can heal with her there too. The only thing we can do is...surprisingly, go to Route 8. I think the game is supposed to have you head east of Saffron to Route 8 on the west side through, instead of east. I will cover the route from west to east.

    POKEMON TOWER

    Back to TOC

Try to go up the steps and you'll meet with Buried Alive. Who? Well we'll find out later. On the second floor, you'll meet him again and you'll warp. Go north and as you do, the shadowy apparition disappears in front of you. Inspect the gravestone at the end and you're back in Lavender Town, no longer glitchy but with creepy mist. The signs are glitched, and the PokeCenter and one building are locked. If you attempt to enter any building aside from your house, you'll pop out at your house. If you enter your house, you'll be back on 2F of the Pokemon Tower. Go to 3F to see some weird stuff. You can't head north to the biking guy, and aside from him, there's a moving triangle, a ship that's just parked, a moving gold trinket, and a moving gym sign. None of which can be interacted with. On 4F, attempt to go to 5F to warp again. Head north to see the shadow apparition, plus Sectum and Imperio again. They can't be real!

    Nihilus Admin Sectum: Ghost Lv56, Ghost Lv56, Ghost Lv56, Ghost Lv58, P4640

North once again and you're back. To the next floor, 5F. Once again you'll warp as you try to head through. Go north and this time the shadow apparition appears with mom and Prof. Rose.

PKMN Prof. Rose: Ghost Lv62, P1984

None of this can be real, right? North again, inspect a gravestone to warp back. Sadly you can't heal with the symbol in the middle of 5F. Go to 6F. You'll find Ryan/Selena and Lumos, not confident in the mission, they seem like they can't defeat the nemesis we are after. The ghost girl appears, makes Ryan/Selena and Lumos disappear, and now Buried Alive is mad. Turns out those weren't the real Ryan/Selena and Lumos either. Once the ghost girl disappears, head south again.

You'll warp...back home? With two new girls here. You can't interact with either of them. Go downstairs to see mom and three other little girls, none of which you can interact with aside from mom who has blank dialogue. If you attempt to exit your house, you'll be back upstairs. The solution is: Talk to mom, then go back upstairs and use the bed from the north end and you should warp (using the bed without talking to mom will do nothing).

A new hallway in Pokemon Tower. All the way north now to a gravestone to inspect, and we will be in a dark void with Buried Alive. Seems Buried Alive has a different objective than Team Nihilus. He was once a necromancer who was found and to be murdered, or rather in his case, buried alive, hence the name. However he could interact with MissingNo's dimension to make use of its power. He also couldn't utilize the power, so he had the power of the scar granted to Team Nihilus, the ability to spread the curse. Yet he needs a body, and wants yours. Even if you defeat him, the virus will still spread.

After some flashes, you're back in the misty Lavender Town. Here, all the buildings you can enter will just make you leave through the same building. Go to Buried Alive at the Pokemon Tower entrance for some more doomsday stuff before he disappears. Back to the tower. Or so you think, because you'll somehow be back home, answering to "mom", who turns into Buried Alive. More monologuing from the guy, wanting to create a better universe to you, and you saying he's lying. Of course the ghost girl comes in to help out. The ghost girl actually happens to be Kirlia, the same one from the beginning of the game who's grave you were supposed to go to. Buried Alive attempts to dispatch Kirlia, who is telling you that all Buried Alive wants is some kind of revenge against the world that has killed him. You need to get to the final floor of Pokemon Tower quickly and destroy him as he's weak. As Buried Alive continues to weaken Kirlia, you go up and then you're back at Pokemon Tower. Actually back at the top too. Kirlia made a sacrifice here. Now you go up and get ready to defeat Buried Alive in a battle.

    Buried Alive: Muk Lv64, Gengar Lv60, Whitehand Lv65, Whitehand Lv70, P7000

Be wary of the Whitehands, who are substantially high in level, Ghost/Dark typing, Pressure ability, and also Transform as its main attack. A very strong Ditto if you will. When you win, his energy goes haywire, and the tower will start collapsing.

Outside the tower, Lumos, Ryan/Selena, mom, and Prof. Rose are checking up on you when you wake up. You won! Prof. Rose explains that an earthquake occurred, causing the tower to crumble, but you were teleported here. And they also said that the cities have returned to normal. Lumos had scientists create the cure for the infected ones still infected as well. The police are getting infected trainers to the hospital to cure them. Shame that our old friend Eric is with Team Nihilus, and so far they are probably still on the loose, but they have lost connection with MissingNo so not all is bad. In any case, Prof. Rose says that now that you have eight badges, you can challenge the Kanto League. Everyone leaves but Ryan/Selena, who's also leaving after getting excited for Victory Road. Our new destination is upon us.

Since Lavender Town is restored, much of the place is the same. You can also fly to Vermillion City to see that it too is restored and without the glitchiness, but some of the buildings you can enter have people with either recycled dialogue or none at all, and exiting the buildings will still be a mess. Nothing of actual importance though. We should be heading to Viridian City and then west now.

Stock up and get ready, let's go take on the Elite Four. Enter the door, and you'll be in a room with four teleporters, kinda like one of those Mega Man boss rush rooms. We'll start with the SW teleporter. You'll be surprised to see this Elite Four member to be none other than Youngster Joey! You know, one of the first ones from Route 30 in the Johto games?

Elite Four Joey: Raticate Lv100 (holds Oran Berry), P10000

Tougher than he looks. I hope you were preparing to get chipped away with Super Fang and Endeavor, plus Pursuit can hurt if you decide to switch. But that's his only Pokemon. Head back and to the SE teleporter this time. We now get to battle...Giovanni! Seems like his turning over a new leaf has led him to be an Elite Four member.

Elite Four Giovanni: Rhyperior Lv58, Dugtrio Lv58, Persian Lv58, Nidoking Lv58, Nidoqueen Lv58, Kangaskhan Lv60 (holds Oran Berry), P6000

Guess he's gonna disappear for another 20 years or so before returning to try something new again. Head back and let's take the NE teleporter this time. Oh no, not these two again. How did they become Elite Four members? And wouldn't that mean that there's an Elite Five? Because there's one more teleporter after this…

    Elite Four Para&Dox: Throh Lv58, Sawk Lv58, Solrock Lv58, Lunatone Lv58, Hitmonlee Lv60, Hitmonchan Lv60, P12000 (double battle)

Yeah, they're still annoying. One last challenge, in the NW teleporter, it's Prof. Oak! He seems to have his mind in the same way as in the opening. In any case, one more Elite Four member to battle.

Elite Four Oak: Pikachu Lv58, Arcanine Lv58, Gyarados Lv58, Venusaur Lv58, Blastoise Lv58, Charizard Lv60 (holds Oran Berry), P6000

Once you've challenged them all, there's one last step. Head north in the teleporter room and the champion is, possibly not surprisingly, Lumos! He goes through the champion talk, but you mention what Team Nihilus may be up to and as far as we know, they are attempting one last thing. He then mentions why he wants you to get the gym badges and challenge the league, and you are mentioning the Hall of Fame too, and he mentions that it's also a portal. Since you defeated Buried Alive, this portal is the last spot of protection left. Seems if you win against Lumos, it's your turn to protect the area. Are you up to the task?

    PKMN Trainer Lumos: Skarmory Lv58, Salamence Lv60, Gyarados Lv60, Roserade Lv60, Gardevoir Lv59, Ho-Oh Lv65 (holds Oran Berry), P2080

The reason why Lumos had saved you prior to all this is because he had Ho-Oh. Go figure. No time though, Team Nihilus has arrived. A grunt comes in, but so do the following people: Eric, Imperio, Sonorous, and finally, the mysterious man from the beginning. Apparently our nemesis from the beginning is appropriately named Nemesis. Also he's Lumos' brother. And Lumos refused to join Nemesis in his world destruction. Nemesis scolds his minions for not winning with legendaries, and wants to deal with Lumos. Lumos will give you Sacred Ash (this is just a heal from Ho-Oh). You then give a talk to Eric, and Ryan/Selena will show up to help. Basically, you'll battle Eric while Ryan/Selena takes on Imperio.

    Nihilus Admin Sectum: Crobat Lv58, Absol Lv59, Bisharp Lv60, Scizor Lv60, Houndoom Lv61, Moltres Lv62, P4960

While you battle, Lumos is defeated by Nemesis. He gets ready to enter the Hall of Fame, but you attempt to stop him.

    Nihilus Boss Nemesis: Omastar Lv60, Kabutops Lv60, Cradily Lv60, Armaldo Lv60, Aerodactyl Lv60, Gengar Lv65, P1560

Even without Pokemon, Nemesis rigs a bomb to blow the door to the Hall of Fame open. Another squad is here to restrain us and will threaten to kill Lumos. Coming in as cavalry, Hilda! And not just her, but the other gym leaders, Ethan, Lyra, Brendan, May, Lucas, and Dawn! You and Ryan/Selena have a clear path. Hilda heals you and you enter the room. They're going to initiate the ceremony. Seems that you and Ryan/Selena will be immobilized so that the ritual takes place. Sonorous is very concerned about this, it demands a sacrifice. And yes, it seems Sonorous is that sacrifice right here. Even moreso, the ones with the scars must be sacrificed to MissingNo! Because of this, Imperio and Eric realize this guy just wants to create total chaos, and one of the elites attempts to make a run for it only to be immobilized too. Another flash, the elite is vaporized, and the room glitches. Due to the damages on Imperio, she's not affected by this, while Eric severs his arm to prevent himself from being sacrificed too. MissingNo still is summoned and Nemesis enters the portal. What to do? It seems you have to enter the portal alone. Though Ryan/Selena protests, Eric reasons it's for the best, and will be the other person to go with you while Ryan/Selena stays behind with Imperio. You get a moment of control to prepare! Do so and talk to Eric when ready.

In the portal, Nemesis is mad he can't find MissingNo. It then beckons, a final sacrifice. Seems Nemesis walked right into this one. Eric tries with his Pokemon but there's a barrier. Nemesis is transformed now. So yeah, MissingNo controls Nemesis' body, and wanted to choose you, not Buried Alive, for a vessel too. He also gave you the Unown Orb, posing as that old man from Viridian City. Pretending to be the rom creator. Plus Buried Alive has like nothing to do with this plot. He wants new universes, new creations, and of course new destructions. He wants us to sit back and watch, but it's time to take a stand, as feelings are nobody's business now.

    ???: M!sS!nGnO Lv70, P2800

Another Ghost/Dark type, this one I believe has Pressure as its main ability (but data shows it can also have Shed Skin and in my battle it seems I only lose 1 PP per move instead of two so he probably had Shed Skin in this case). Its moves are Toxic, Crunch, Shadow Ball, and finally Brick Break.

He's quite the tough one even if you do win this first battle. Now we see the main form of MissingNo.

    ???: MissingNo. Lv70, P2800

This time you have to contend with something that has Wonder Guard. To know the typing, it is Normal/Flying, so you need Ice, Electric, or Rock moves. Its moveset has Water Gun, Hypnosis, Sky Attack, and Recover.

Time to escape! MissingNo tries the "taking you with me" trope, but Eric jumps in. He'll have to stay behind, telling you that the portal is about to close. You rush out, back to the Hall of Fame room where the room recovers and Hilda, Lumos, and Ryan/Selena are here. Yes, Eric is trapped in the portal, but he chose the right path in the end. Plus you get a smooch from your rival character Ryan/Selena, wow. Imperio decided to escape during this, by the way, and May and Brendan are chasing her, with Dawn and Lucas asking the police to help, and Lyra and Ethan guarding the front. And yet with all the celebrations, one other person will crash the party: Stephano! He's rather proud of coming in while everyone is exhausted, wanting more of God's judgment and all. More directly, he wants to rule. To be the strongest. And you thought you were all done with the game.

Great Sage Stephano: Lugia Lv65 (holds Oran Berry), Alakazam Lv60, Metagross Lv62 (holds Oran Berry), Xatu Lv59, Bronzong L61, Medicham Lv59, P4720

(side note: I was apparently healed before this fight with my HP and PP already restored, I guess that was a plus)

Yeah, so while Lumos had Ho-Oh, Stephano had Lugia. Lumos wants to arrest Stephano, and while he tries to make an escape, it seems that the police have made their way here. More cop lingo, and Stephano is taken away. Another commander finds their way here and wants to defeat MissingNo, except they're too late. As it stands, the two commanders are revealing themselves as Para and Dox. Dumb comedy and fourth-wall breaking later, they leave. Lumos wants to make you Hoenn champion, since I'm guessing that Steven or Wallace is retiring soon? As if more people come in, here comes mom and Prof. Rose. Finally, the Hall of Fame dialogue and commencement happens after all those interruptions.

Are you looking for post-game stuff? Well...

    • You can't rematch the league, sorry, there's a guy in the way.
    • Prof. Rose has different dialogue, but won't be like her grandpa in rating your dex.
    • There's a talking Slowpoke in Vermillion who actually tells you to stop MissingNo, which is funny because of the Slowpoke meme. There's also more characters at Vermillion, and the mayor has different dialogue. However, don't talk to the old man before the dock because the game will softlock.
    • I went back to Navel Rock, sadly Lugia and Ho-Oh aren't here. Plus going to where Ho-Oh will lead to a repeated cutscene which glitches.
    • Celadon City also has new people in it. You can't enter the gym still.

And that's about it. Pokemon Stigma doesn't seem to have a post-game of any kind, no catching of other legendaries or anything else, some other places are also not reconstructed and/or otherwise done differently after you finished with the league. At least you got through it, with this guide helping along the way.

    APPENDIX - POKEMON INFORMATION

    Back to TOC

I'm not going to do a PokeDex for this hack because not every Pokemon can actually be obtained. Yes, you'll unfortunately be battling trainers who can use Pokemon you cannot use, such as Metagross for example, no member of its line can be found and captured in the wild. I will however list evolution changes, and they are on the PokeCommunity thread for Stigma for convenience:

    • Kadabra to Alakazam at Lv36
    • Boldore to Gigalith at Lv42
    • Haunter to Gengar at Lv41
    • Magneton to Magnezone via Thunderstone
    • Rhydon to Rhyperior via happiness
    • Scyther to Scizor at Lv47
    • Electabuzz to Electivire via Thunderstone
    • Magmar to Magmortar via Fire Stone
    • Yanma to Yanmega via Leaf Stone
    • Misdreavus to Mismagius via Moon Stone
    • Sneasel doesn't evolve into Weavile
    • Lampent into Chandelure via Moon Stone
    • Gurdurr to Conkeldurr at Lv40
    • Dusclops into Dusknoir via Moon Stone
    • Roselia to Roserade via Sun Stone

(side note: I never found Rhyhorn/Rhydon, Misdreavus, Dusclops, or Yanma in this hack. Plus a few other evolutions that could be possible (Slowpoke to Slowking for instance) weren't possible in my case either since the evolution methods were either unchanged or not implemented (no Kirlia to Gallade for instance).

There are a handful of fakemons to deal with in the game, so I'll list what they are below for convenience, and how to battle them is in the walkthrough as well. Major spoilers here.

Ghost (resembles the Ghost sprite for the Ghost Marowak from R/B/Y, replaces Mew)
    Ghost/Dark type
    Levitate
    60 base HP
    65 base Attack
    60 base Defense
    110 base Sp. Atk
    75 base Sp. Def
    110 base Speed

These are used by the Shadow Demons in the Pokemon Mansion and Forbidden Cavern. The moves are various moves a Ghost type Pokemon would use, however since they are all moves learned at Lv1, most of the Ghosts have a custom moveset which is described depending on where they are (for the Forbidden Cavern ones, they use Curse, Destiny Bond, Shadow Ball, and Mean Look).

Ice Ghost (palette swap of Ghost, replaces Porygon)
    Ice/Ghost type
    Shadow Tag
    65 base HP
    60 base Attack
    70 base Defense
    85 base Sp. Atk
    75 base Sp. Def
    70 base Speed

Used by the Frost Demons in Seafoam Islands. They only have the moves Ice Beam, Hypnosis, Destiny Bond, and Shadow Ball.

Whitehand (appears as a creepy, white hand, replaces Delibird)
    Ghost/Dark type
    Pressure
    100 base HP
    180 base Attack
    75 base Defense
    180 base Sp. Atk
    75 base Sp. Def
    180 base Speed

Two of these are only used by Buried Alive in your battle against him. High-leveled, and their only move is Transform.

M!sS!nGnO (appears as an infected Roughneck trainer, replaces Wailord)
    Ghost/Dark type
    Shed Skin or Pressure
    150 base HP
    150 base Attack
    150 base Defense
    150 base Sp. Atk
    150 base Sp. Def
    50 base Speed

Used by the first form of MissingNo (as himself, possessing Nemesis' body). Has the moves Toxic, Crunch, Shadow Ball, and Brick Break

MissingNo. (the glitchy form from R/B/Y, replaces Mantine)
    Normal/Flying type
    Wonder Guard
    100 base HP
    150 base Attack
    100 base Defense
    150 base Sp. Atk
    100 base Sp. Def
    100 base Speed

The final form of MissingNo. Has the moves Water Gun, Hypnosis, Recover, and Sky Attack

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Back to TOC

Q: Can you get Rock Smash?

A: To my knowledge no. The rocks you see in the game are simply roadblocks but get removed as the story progresses

Q: So it's possible to beat the Mysterious Man at the top of Pokemon Tower the first time?

A: Not unless you're cheating with your Pokemon or hacking something in. It's supposed to be lost.

Q: How to solve the Lavender Town puzzle at Clergy HQ?

A: You need to enter the doors in a specific order which the walkthrough goes to. I had to show an order that worked in that case since there wasn't a hint on the OP of the PokeCommunity thread. Bottom line is, if you get the door puzzle wrong, you warp to the center of town, but if you emerge from a different door, you're on the right track.
