Pokemon The Wooper Who Saved Christmas — Dual Walkthrough
by Olivia R.
Note: These are ROM hacks. I do not own them and will not distribute the hacks, but I am the author of this walkthrough — if you use it, credit me.
You need a clean Pokemon Fire Red ROM (please Google it), a patching utility like Lunar IPS, and a GBA Emulator (I used VBA) to play both The Wooper Who Saved Christmas and The Wooper Who Saved Christmas 2.
This will be a strict text walkthrough of the rom hacks featuring what you need to do to get through the games as well as the trainers and their Pokemon. And always, expect spoilers in this walkthrough. You have been warned.

THE WOOPER WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS
Forest Clearing [FORC]
Start out and name your Wooper. You start out in a small room where Wooper (you) are the Pokemon. Wooper is also one of the Pokemon you automatically have. There's nothing to actually do but go to bed. The story then continues, with Saint Nick and his Delibird. Leave to the south and you'll spot a naughty Rocket grunt taking Santa's Delibird. You can run outside and train on the grass here.

- Pidgey: 34%
- Ledyba: 30%
- Hoothoot: 20%
- Swinub: 10%
- Rattata: 5%
- Skitty: 1%
Head north to Route 1.
GLITCH: Once you go to Route 1, you are unable to return to Forest Clearing — it will replay the cutscene over and over again and you will have to reset.
Route 1 [RTE1]
Mons found:
- Hoothoot: 49%
- Rattata: 49%
- Hoppip: 1%
- Sandshrew: 1% (note: can be Lv9)
You go up to a wall automatically. Go around it and you will meet a trainer who wants to catch you. By beating a trainer, they black out and warp to a HumaCenter.
Bug Catcher Jacky: Caterpie Lv4 — P48
The hiker on the right is not a trainer. Go north and all the way west to the dead end to find a hidden Soda Pop. Go to the cave sign and say Yes to notice that there just so happens to be a Rocket Hideout in the cave, third rock from the door. Head inside.
Viridian Caverns [VIRC]
No Pokemon allowed according to the sign, and the third rock is just to the east of that sign, but you have no password yet. Head east and an officer takes you into the center of a village. Yes, you as a Wooper can talk to villagers here. Once they leave, you can go around the place.
Shop:
- Potion: P300
- Antidote: P100
- Parlyz Heal: P200
- Awakening: P250
- Burn Heal: P250
- Escape Rope: P550
- Repel: P350
(Note: you start out with P100 — there's still a Potion in your PC.)
You will see a grunt above the HumaCenter, which leads to the first branching point. Should you trick him? Yes is the naughty path, No is the nice path.
Choose No: Team Rocket Grunt: Drowzee Lv7 — P224, and the password: "Pokemon"
Choose Yes: You won't battle, but you'll still get the password.
To the north you will find a rival-looking character who gives you Capture Orbs. These work like regular Poke Balls.
Return to the rock and you will input the password. The NW cave opens.
Rocket Warehouse [WARE]
Mons found:

- Rattata: 49%

- Ekans: 1% (note: can be Lv10)
The layout is basically the same as the Sevii Islands warehouse, except without arrow tiles. You just need to go to the middle and go to the north room.
Ex Rocket Rival: Marill Lv8, Grimer Lv9 — P144
You'll be told to head north.
GLITCH: You can rematch this trainer indefinitely.
Return to where you got Capture Orbs and head north to the forest.
Viridian Forest [VIRF]
Mons found:

- Weedle: 40%

The snowy forest has been ruined due to Team Rocket driving a truck around. Head west to the grass at the end, and at the two southernmost tips of grass, inspect the right tip to find a Heal Box. This is a healing item. The boy you come to along the way determines if you've been naughty or nice so far.
If you go to the NW corner, there's apparently a hidden money stash, however this doesn't actually work — your money doesn't go up. After the next person you see, head south, where there will be a section of grass going down. Hidden there are 3 Capture Orbs. If you check the two tiles of grass east of that area's entrance, there's another hidden money stash that also doesn't affect your money.
GLITCH: Not only do the money stashes not increase your money, they also glitch dialogue, which goes away only by leaving and re-entering the area.
Continue north on the truck trail and you will get the storyline dialogue at the cliff edge. Say yes for the point of no return here and continue into the next entrance.
Rocket Hideout [HIDE]
- Team Rocket Grunt: Pikachu Lv7 — P224
- Team Rocket Grunt: Pidgey Lv12, Jigglypuff Lv7 — P224
- Team Rocket Grunt: Spearow Lv10, Sandshrew Lv8 — P256
- Team Rocket Grunt: Bellsprout Lv23, Bellsprout Lv13 — P416
- Team Rocket Grunt: Magnemite Lv15 — P480
The item to the west is a money sack, which is supposed to have P300 but again doesn't work right.
Team Rocket Grunt: Abra Lv14 — P448
The third floor has the next branching point. Choosing yes or no will have you battle the admin no matter what.
Team Rocket Admin: Caterpie Lv5 — P160
The others leave. Keep going to find the "leader guy" who tells you that it was his twin brother who stole the Delibird. You get 5 Capture Orbs for going through this and a branching point. Choose no and you won't battle, but choose yes for a battle:
Twin Leader Man: Snorlax Lv12 — P48
Take the elevator to reach Pewter Town.
Pewter Town [PEWT]
You arrive inside the PokeMart. The guy here will actually sell Capture Orbs, and if you say yes, you will actually get more good points. 1 Capture Orb is worth P350. The PokeMart clerk sells the same wares as the one from Viridian Caverns.
Outside, go west and the guy on the bench will sell you 1 Capture Orb for free, but this will give you bad points. Both this man and the other one who you actually have to buy from can be talked to repeatedly to change your good or bad points.
There's a gym to the west, and the small enclave where the gym cave is has a P100 money stash (can't use of course). You can challenge the leader, who is Brock's father.
Leader Flint: P1200 Onix Lv12 — Tackle, Screech, Bind
You need to talk to him again to get TM39 Rock Tomb. Afterwards, go east to Route 3.
Route 3 [RTE3]

- Mankey: 1%
- Sneasel: 1% (can be Lv12)
A cutscene plays with a NidoranM and a man. Get the Potion here. Enter the building which is the underground railroad. This will lead straight to Cerulean City.
Cerulean City [CERU]
Talk to the SW guy and you will get the Bicycle. He says it's a skateboard, but it isn't one. Even moreso, you won't actually change sprites when you use this. A Capture Orb dealer is in the NW house, where you can talk to them and get up to three Capture Orbs in one dialogue. It says you pay P50, but you can actually get these for free. Route 4 is a dead end, so head north to Route 24.

You almost get into a battle, but then the Rockets have a meeting. Head north and to the four small columns. The rightmost one has a hidden Master Ball. Go to the SE corner of this floor to find 5 Super Potions (the grunts don't battle by the way). In the basement, go into the small enclosed room and inspect the NW corner for 5 Antidotes. Enter the small hall with trees and inspect the NE corner for 3 Revives. Go to the meeting and the Leader Man will jump across the table to battle.
Juggler Shawn: Drowzee Lv34, Hypno Lv34 — P1360
You aren't supposed to win this battle, but if you somehow do the game continues as if you lost. You then battle him again with the same Pokemon, except this time your Wooper now jumps to Lv50 and is your only option. Here, you can now press Start in the menu to "mega-evolve" into Quagsire (unfortunately you run into obedience issues in this battle — may need to put in the badge code to ensure obedience, as you are supposed to win this battle here). You may not actually battle him again depending on your good/bad points, but in either case, you have to head east.
Go to the east room to confront Leader Guy. If you are on the naughty path, Santa thinks you betrayed him, and then you enter a glitch battle against a Lv0 ?????????. At least it seems to be that way, but if you were on the nice path you won't have to battle and Leader Guy sees the error of his ways. The game ends with Santa continuing his deliveries. You get a HOF, and for some reason have the ability to move in the Indigo Plateau before your game freezes. For what it's worth, this is essentially the end of the hack.
THE WOOPER WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
The story gives you a sneak peak of Wooper sitting on a throne before you get the traditional intro dialogue. This dialogue describes the story of the Wooper who saved Christmas, and also murdered Team Rocket while doing so, and then ruling over the Kanto region. The story does divert to the Wooper now being visited by a witch, where the "advisor who is named Coach" calls the witch in. She entrusts the Wooper to a fetch quest in order to find Santa.
Three things to find:
- The Mega Moon Stone on Mt. Moon
- The hat of a long lost hero
- What your target holds most dear — Santa's Delibird, who is in the dungeon
Leave the throne room (the left and right walls can be walked through, but there's nothing in them). Head down in the hall to see Gretta the receptionist, and then an old man who is a filthy peasant begs for you to give him money, but you shove him off. He is then hit by your two guards below.
GLITCH: Do not talk to the old man again or your game will freeze.
Fellow scientists are to the west, who have the tax evaders locked up, as well as Mindy (from Gen-4). The dungeon is to the north where Santa's Delibird is locked up. If you attempt to leave south, you will be asked to take Pokemon with you. You now have the choice of three teams:
- Electric team: Voltorb, Magnemite, and Squirtle
- Fighting team: Machop, Mankey, and Charmander
- Mixed team: Rhyhorn, Ponyta, and Bulbasaur
Once you pick your team, you now have Pokemon at Lv10, along with Wooper at Lv15. While here, it's worth mentioning that you have P10000 to start out with as well as all eight badges (I'm guessing this is just to keep your mons obedient, since that was a problem with the final battle in the previous game).
Viridian Caverns [VIRC]
Nothing of real interest, however it is worth noting that the PokeMart has been integrated into the PokeCenter.
Shop:
- Potion: P300
- Antidote: P100
- Parlyz Heal: P200
- Awakening: P250
- Burn Heal: P250
- Escape Rope: P550
- Repel: P350
Just head north to the forest.
Viridian Forest [VIRF]
Mons found:
- Caterpie: 40%
- Weedle: 40%
- Kakuna: 10%
- Metapod: 5%
- NidoranF: 4%
- Sandshrew: 1% (Lv20)
A hidden money stash is at the west side, containing P750, but like in the previous game, this doesn't do anything. Another money stash is at the east side, at the south of two grass tiles (same location as it was in the previous game), which is P500 but again doesn't do anything. Then there's the south dead end nearby which contains 3 Poke Balls (here they are called Poke Balls this time).
Continue north to the former Rocket Hideout. Here, you are actually required to use a Walk Through Walls code because of a glitch wall blocking progress. Walk through it for the way to Pewter Town.
Pewter Town [PEWT]
Shop:
- Poke Ball: P200
- Great Ball: P600
- Potion: P300
- Antidote: P100
- Parlyz Heal: P200
- Awakening: P250
- Burn Heal: P250
- Escape Rope: P550
- Repel: P350
Route 3 [RTE3]
Mons found:
- Hoothoot: 40%
- Sandshrew: 29%
- Taillow: 10%
- Teddiursa: 10%
- Spearow: 5%
- Jigglypuff: 4%
- Sneasel: 1% (Lv25)
- Growlithe: 1%
One Potion is on this route. This route extends further east than in the previous game, but you should enter Mt. Moon in the middle of the route.
Mt. Moon [MOON]

- Geodude: 25%
- Paras: 5%
- Clefairy: 1% (Lv28)
Mons found — Tunnels:

- Diglett: 1% (Lv25)
Mons found — Bottom floor:
- Zubat: 49%
- Geodude: 30%
- Paras: 15%
- Clefairy: 6%
Proceed to the northwest.
Hiker Gerald: Geodude Lv17, Sandshrew Lv16 — P576
Go through this tunnel and on the other side, get the Revival Herb.
Cooltrainer Erik: Weezing Lv18, Pidgeotto Lv19 — P912 Cooltrainer Kathryne: Starmie Lv20, Raticate Lv20 — P960
On the crater to the right of them are 5 Poke Balls. Go all the way to the end of this passage to get the Whitepowder. Return to the first floor, leave Mt. Moon, and return to Pewter City. One of the buildings has a grandpa laying on the floor. You can trade your Whitepowder for a Mystic Water. Return to Mt. Moon and go north and east.
Hiker Baron Matt: Vulpix Lv15, Paras Lv14, Paras Lv15 — P540
Ignore the enclave and head south on the east side.
Hiker Tiffany: Machoke Lv18, Machoke Lv18 — P1296 (treated like a double battle but you only need to KO one Machoke)
Down in the bottom floor from this tunnel, you will have a scientist trainer. Unfortunately this trainer is also glitched, and will either cause your screen to go red or endlessly say gibberish dialogue. If you use the Walk Through Walls code to get the item, you will get a Reg. Moon Stone. Return to the first floor and enter the enclave to the last tunnel. There's a cave entrance on the bottom there, along with an Exp. Share.
Enter the cave here and try to go up. This is yet another instance where you have to use Walk Through Walls, and you need to step onto the tile two above the entrance for the next script (you also have to approach from the side — be cautious, because this particular area is taken from Cerulean Cave and keeps the encounters there). Trigger the script to battle a shiny Clefairy at Lv25. You will then get the Mega Moon Stone. That's one of two.
Leave Mt. Moon and head east to Route 4. Nothing to do here, so head east to Cerulean City.
Cerulean City [CERU]
Yes, that is a very long PokeCenter. The mart wares are the same as Pewter Town. You can head north or east. We're going north first because there's only one route to take here.
Route 24 [RT24]
Mons found:
- Ekans: 20%
- Skitty: 20%
- Poliwag: 20%
- Pidgey: 15%
- Abra: 14%
- Oddish: 5%
- Kakuna: 4%
- Natu: 1%
- Eevee: 1%
The Blaine-looking man will grant you a request that will make you stronger. Once your quest is at its last stretches, you must give up the strongest Pokemon, and wild Pokemon around the game will be stronger. You can choose not to do this now, but if you do, the wild Pokemon will jump up several levels. You can actually undo this (despite what he says) by talking to him again. When you are ready, go east to Route 9.
Route 9 [RTE9]
Mons found:
- Rattata: 40%
- Spearow: 35%
- Ekans: 25%
The zoo is here but it's closed. Head east of it to find a Brendan-looking man who runs away. Chase him to the east side and battle him.
Mystery Boy ???: Raichu Lv35, Butterfree Lv30, Pidgeot Lv38 — P1064
He flies away. Find him back on Route 4, which you can now catch Pokemon in. These are the same mons as Route 4 in the base game. Talk to the mystery boy and you will punish him for his deeds and also get the Hero's Hat. That's two for two.
Now what? If you were to head back to where it all began, the witch will tell you you need to find all the ingredients, which means you aren't done yet. Return to the long PokeCenter in Cerulean and go to the east set of shelves. Find a book there which pops you out in Route 11. Head south. This part of Route 12 has a Pokedex-looking thing with two buttons, backwards and forwards. Pushing either one will actually cause the device to crumble.
As far as I know, I was unable to conclude this hack. I did get both of the required items (GLITCH: They will for some reason swap if you attempt to use them in the key items menu), but the witch would not move on. To my knowledge there are supposed to be two other battles, one with Santa and the other with a Christmas Spirit, and neither occurred. Furthermore, there's nothing on Youtube that got this far, especially considering the Walk Through Walls requirement, so I got as far as I could here. Thanks for reading this dual-walkthrough!
