About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Renegade Platinum is a detailed hack of Pokémon Platinum made by Drayano. This hack keeps the original Sinnoh story and flow but changes the gameplay systems to offer a tougher, more flexible, and updated Pokémon experience. Instead of changing the story, Renegade Platinum concentrates on gameplay depth and player choice. All Pokémon are available without trading, trainer battles have been rebalanced, weaker Pokémon have been improved, and many annoying issues from the original game have been fixed. Features from later generations, up to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, are added to the Gen 4 engine. Although the main experience still resembles Pokémon Platinum, almost every underlying system has been changed, making this hack feel like a definitive version designed for skilled players.Story Overview
The main story of Pokémon Renegade Platinum closely follows the original Pokémon Platinum narrative. However, new events and changes in progression points subtly expand the story flow. Some areas become accessible sooner than in the original game. For example, Route 216 can be explored more quickly because of updates involving Gardenia. The player also visits Pal Park as part of the main journey and meets Lucas or Dawn more often during the adventure. There are additional story-driven events for getting starters, legendaries, and mythical Pokémon like Mew, Celebi, and Arceus. This makes their acquisition feel integrated rather than added on. While the main plot stays true to Platinum, these additions offer more character interaction, optional lore, and gameplay variety without changing the narrative itself.Key Features
- All 493 Pokémon Available: Every Pokémon from Bulbasaur to Arceus can be obtained within a single save file. Wild encounters across Sinnoh have been completely reworked, and special scripted events are used for starters and legendary Pokémon to preserve thematic consistency.
- Revamped Trainer Battles: Every trainer in the game has been redesigned with expanded teams, Pokémon from the National Dex, improved levels, and smarter AI. Trainer Pokémon now scale into the 70s by the Elite Four instead of the 50s.
- Harder Boss Battles: Gym Leaders, rivals, Galactic Admins, Elite Four members, and the Champion now use full teams of six Pokémon with high IVs, custom movesets, held items, and competitive strategies. Elite Four members and the Champion randomly select from multiple team compositions.
- Modern Pokémon Mechanics Added: The Fairy type has been fully implemented, replacing the unused ??? type. Pokémon typings, stats, abilities, and wild held items match Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon standards where applicable.
- Pokémon Balance Changes: Weaker Pokémon receive stat buffs or stat redistribution to improve viability. Some Pokémon receive new typings or abilities, while others gain expanded movepools. An optional Classic Version patch removes custom balance changes for players who prefer closer-to-vanilla stats.
- Expanded Movepools & TM Compatibility: Level-up movepools now include Egg Moves, TM moves, and moves from later generations. TM compatibility has been heavily expanded, and new TMs like Scald, Dazzling Gleam, Hurricane, and Bug Buzz have been added.
- Trade Evolution Removal: All trade evolutions have been replaced with level-based or item-based evolution methods, allowing full completion without multiplayer interaction.
- Massive Quality-of-Life Improvements: Infinite-use TMs (via 99 copies), free Move Tutors and Move Relearner, instant egg hatching, guaranteed fishing encounters, instant Honey Tree Pokémon, early access to Poké Radar, Bicycle at the start, HM requirements largely removed, and no need for Flash or fog mechanics.
- Increased Shiny Rate Options: Default shiny odds are increased to 1/512, with optional patches to restore original Platinum odds or Gen 6+ odds.
- Optional Speed-Up Patch: An optional patch removes text speed delays, speeds up HP/EXP bars, and lifts the 30 FPS cap for faster gameplay.
- New Events & NPCs: New story events, Pokémon distribution events, training NPCs for EV and level grinding, evolution item vendors, and special item sellers expand the world’s functionality.
