Author: Olivia R.
Source: https://bioactivesolstice.blogspot.com/2022/03/pokemon-rom-hack-walkthroughs.html
Requirements
As a reminder, you need:
- A clean Pokemon Fire Red ROM (please Google it)
- A patching utility like Lunar IPS
- A GBA Emulator (I used VBA) to play Pokemon TDT
- You can also Google a pre-patched ROM
About This Walkthrough
This will be a strict text walkthrough of the ROM hack featuring what you need to do to get through the game as well as the trainers and their Pokemon. And always, expect spoilers in this walkthrough. You have been warned.
Features
- You're a grunt of Team Rocket
- It's a darker setting, and contains many pop culture references (GoT, Park and Rec, etc)
- Pokedex: Original 151, all obtainable (except two)
- Testing: Has been tested, it's not perfect but is in its final form
- Known Bugs:
- Do not save in the save room as Giovanni
- Be careful about where you go when you're in what would be Cerulean - there's some stuff you can do that will make it so you can't leave
- As with all ROM hacks I encourage you to have a backup save file

Getting Started
Start off by leaving a familiar bedroom (there's a Potion in the PC), but you will end up in the Rocket Hideout upon descending the steps. A Rocket Grunt greets you, and mentions that your boss wants to see you. This part of the Rocket Hideout doesn't have anything of note, the stairs to the south lead to a rival's room but nothing of real note. The other exits to the SE and west are blocked. Head east and north to the woman who looks like Lorelei. This is your boss, and she mentions the rival character from earlier is actually your brother. He arrives and you have your first mission. The boss mentions a cave north of here, where you must find ancient Pokemon fossils. Afterwards, you can take the SE exit.
IDALIA TOWN - Celebrating life and death
This town is a smaller version of Lavender Town in a way. The sole house here is where the caretaker is, and Jessie and James apparently lived here but moved away. The Pokemon Tower is here, but you can't go up to the next floor unless you "have an appointment". There's a random Nurse Joy who functions as a healer. North is Route PW, a new route, and west is Route 2, blocked off by two kids and their Nidorans, and to the south is Route 12, a water route. Our destination is Route PW. The Rocket grunt here mentions that there are trainers who don't challenge you unless you talk to them. Enter the cave.
A DARK CAVE
Yes, that's the name of this cave. Your brother is here. Follow him, as going right leads to a dead end. You'll find two more people, but nothing special. Just then, you'll see your brother move a boulder, and access two Poke Balls. Pick the one your brother doesn't get, and you'll get your starter, Dratini. Your brother leaves with the other one.
Return to the hideout and talk with the boss. The dragons are cool, but you didn't find fossils. The next mission is a stealing mission instead. This time, you are to head towards Soltice City to steal from the museum. Head out and then west to Route 2.
ROUTE 2
Mons found:
- Meowth: 34%

First person you see is a friendly Rocket grunt. Go north to find the siblings. The girl lost. Talk to her first to get 3x Antidote, you may need to use it against the boy.
Youngster Dan: NidoranM Lv2, P32
To the west is an entrance to a Berry Forest. This is an optional area that may be worth exploring.
BERRY FOREST

SOLTICE CITY
What you first see seems like a glitch with the buildings, but it's actually intentionally under construction as the people here mention. Some "Arthur" only built two building halves and a rooftop and put them in the wrong place.
The Pokemart Supply Depot has the fisherman who gives you an Old Rod.
If you enter the PokeCenter and talk to the sailor, you lose P50. You can talk to him again to battle him.
Thug Dario: Caterpie Lv2, P8, plus the P50 that was stolen
A more important thing here is the Rocket Grunt. Talk to him to get both a Pokedex and the Running Shoes.
PokeMart wares:
- Poke Ball: P200
- Super Potion: P700
- Potion: P300
- Antidote: P100
- Parlyz Heal: P200

- Escape Rope: P550
- Repel: P350
Your goal is the museum. Nothing else of note inside the city itself, other than the "Penrose Stairs" in the NW house, which just repeats. The west exit is blocked by a sleeping guy. To the north is Route 15, but you can't surf yet. Two scientists here want to cross, because a house across the lake sells evolution stones. You can head south to Route 3 for some additional training before hitting the museum. There's a hidden Rare Candy at the NE end.

- Black Belt Koichi: Machop Lv10, Machop Lv10, P160
GLITCH: There's a tile near the NE end of the museum that you cannot walk through for some reason.
At the top is a professor-looking character who tells you he took the fossil off the stand to prevent you from taking it. It's not Oak, but rather a professor named Dale.
PKMN Prof. Dale: Mankey Lv8, Mankey Lv12, Machop Lv14, P1008 and the Meteorite
First real mission is complete! Return to the boss back in Idalia Town's hideout and you will get your next mission, something about a sage named Sandor. He lives west of Soltice City, and we must retrieve a book. This of course means you can now journey west of Soltice City, no sleeping guy in the way, but since we passed it earlier, let's journey into Equinox Cave to the south for a detour and possibly some more training.

- Ice Heal: P250
- Repel: P350
A kid in the PokeCenter will give you TM12 Taunt. The gentleman here gives you a Rare Candy. Enter the house east of the PokeCenter to get the free Eevee, the researcher here even allows you to take it. The house south of that has a woman who had her entire property vacated, and she gives you TM40 Aerial Ace. West are the mountains. An underground path to the far west is blocked. You can head west to Route 5, but some guy blocks you from heading north because he's trying to research ghosts. Enter the gatehouse and go upstairs to get an Exp. Share from a scientist, but you can't head further west due to not having a bike. Return to the city and climb the main mountain, there's a trainer already. Other trainers are trying to climb the mountain to reach Sandor.
Trainers:
- School Kid Timmy: Rattata Lv14, Ekans Lv14, Meowth Lv14, P168
- Hiker Franklin: Geodude Lv14, Machop Lv15, P540
- Black Belt Kiyo: Machop Lv15, P240
- Hiker Leonard: Onix Lv15, P240
Your brother then challenges you once you get to the house.
Rival (rival): P320
- Rattata Lv15: Tackle, Scary Face, Hyper Fang, Leer
- Dratini Lv16: Tackle, Leer, Thunder Wave, Twister
Enter and talk to both people inside, particularly the old man. Nothing happens. Leave and when you take a step, your brother decides to come in. Afterwards, he returns, talking about you needing to be a little tougher. Return inside and the old man is on the floor dead, with the granddaughter mad at you.
Lass Elise: Clefable Lv16, P1280
Nothing happens. Well, apart from you actually killing the Clefable in that battle. Talk to the lass again. If you are familiar with a certain Pokemon fan theory, you'll realize that the shadow comes to life and attacks.
Lass Elise: Gengar Lv16, P1280
Talk to her a third time and she will give you the book in order for you to leave her alone. This apparently is considered Oak's Parcel for some reason. Leave and head back to HQ in Idalia Town...you'll realize that once you enter the gatehouse leading to Soltice City, an officer blocks your way, trying to investigate the murder of Sandor. You're not a suspect, at least not yet, but there needs to be something to do.
(Around this point something interesting also happened and I found out that my character now has 3 badges for some reason).
ROUTE 5
Mons found:
- Rattata: 40%
- Abra: 18%
- Gastly: 16%
- Bellsprout: 15%
- Pidgey: 11%
Remember the guy who says not to interfere with the ghost hunting on Route 5? Go to him to explain the situation and he'll let you go through. Talk to him again and he's gonna realize that his "Shadow Ball" isn't catching Pokemon. Yeah. He gives you TM30 Shadow Ball. Go through the back of the gatehouse and on the other side is TM34 Shock Wave and a house. In the house, talk to the woman who is angry at the rockets for hurting her kid, she threatens to "cut" herself but you persuade her and get HM01 Cut. Also here are a Bicycle and a Town Map! It's time to use the former to take the long way back, if possible.
One thing you can do with Cut before moving on is, in Corside City, cut a tree down (GLITCH: the tree immediately reforms as soon as you step on the tile it is on, you have to cut it twice) and talk to a woman, who mentions seeing two people, a blonde guy and a flower girl, one who is north of Liolia and one who is east of there. May or may not be important for later. Get on your bicycle and ride through the Route 5 gatehouse. The first thing you will notice is a kid accosted by two bikers and a rocket grunt (why are some people off of their bikes?). Talking to any of them initiates a battle.

Get the Good Rod from the SW house. A girl in the PokeCenter gives you TM23 Iron Tail. A kid running in circles in the SE corner gives you TM18 Rain Dance. Enter the Break House (NE corner) and talk to this man to get TM07 Hail. The house next door looks like a warden's house, and if you talk to the old man, he gives you both a Helix Fossil and a Dome Fossil. TM28 Dig is in the house too. Another prophecy lady is in the NW corner near the gym, seeing a ninja in Eicle City. You can head south to Route 8 which has a closed beach and a trainer.
Swimmer Richard: Tentacool Lv18, Shellder Lv18, P72

ROCKET HIDEOUT
Return to the Rocket hideout and speak to the boss, who will have you promoted with Giovanni being present. This takes place in the hideout basement, aptly titled the Rocket Chamber. Go to the NW corner first for TM42 Facade, then go to the middle to do the promotion. The boss mentions the creation of a new Pokemon and to stare into the eyes of the Slowbro here, which your brother is doing. Interact with Slowbro yourself, and talk to the boss again, who will talk specifically about Mew, and harvesting DNA to basically create Mewtwo. You're told to stare at Slowbro again, so do so. The dialogue will be different, and upon talking to the boss again, you will battle.
Team Rocket Executive: Exeggcute Lv21, Gloom Lv21, Arbok Lv22, P704
The exits will soon be locked. Talk to the grunt to the south to trick him into thinking there are cupcakes upstairs (GLITCH: This also gets rid of the other guard to the NE for some reason, if you think about returning that way). Now you're in a different section of the Rocket Hideout.

He's under some mind control, and you battling him temporarily frees him, but only slightly. Looks like he may not be truly free yet. The stairs lead to Underground Path B. Run through it and Giovanni stops you next.

A guy outside the bike shop is worried that he messed up the pour, and asks you not to tell the owner. Do not choose No here, choose Yes to get TM20 Safeguard. Head to the SW house, where a kid was told to wait outside by his mother while she has a friend over. Barge into the house and talk to the woman to get TM21 Frustration. Outside the PokeCenter, the west exit is blocked by boulders, as is the east exit, and you'll see Meowth. Yes, the Meowth who is usually with Jessie and James, now abandoned and wanting someone to adopt him. The house near the PokeCenter is a reference to the Incredible Hulk, and while you can leave through the back, you can't go back in that way for some reason. Disturbance lady is also outside the PokeCenter, seeing Misty chase Articuno for an inexplicable reason. A man east of her has Leftovers. A woman inside the PokeCenter gives TM04 Calm Mind.
Liolia Town is where Cerulean City would be, and the creator mentions that you must be careful about where you would go. The first place I would go is south, towards Route 15, which was once blocked off by water.

The grass here has TM47 Steel Wing. If you don't have a mon who knows Surf, you'll be stuck here. Surf south to find Patty's Exotic Trickets (sic) Assembled, not to be confused with the PETA we are supposed to go to. Inside, there's a gentleman, who is the same one from the Route 12 house, and it seems that the undercover agent from before was in fact Melanie (which explains why she wasn't back soon). You tell him your story and he mentions that the mayor of Voa is up to something as well. The tunnel in Corside City is also complete. Talk to the other guy here to get the important HM02 Fly. The clerk here does sell stones.

Oddly, you're not able to land south of the house for some reason. Also you can fly, but both the Soltice Museum and the Rocket Hideout in Idalia cannot be returned to ever again. You are supposed to head to the Underground Path in Corside, but let's explore the north path from Liolia.

A hidden Oran Berry is down the ledge and in the SE corner. I don't know what the grandma with the Nurse Joys is for. However, if you are to head west, you will run into a scripted battle with your rival. I decided that it's best to continue with the storyline before doing this, since these trainers you went through beforehand are currently much stronger and we are breaking sequence at the moment, so to continue with the story, enter the underground path in Corside City.

Yeah, it's Diglett's Cave, but with a massive expansion to the south. You for some reason cannot run here, but you can get on your bicycle. First, head SE, as if you were heading along normally (you start in the NW). You will eventually find TM39 Rock Tomb. Head SW afterwards to find some people. Going south from them nets you TM37 Sandstorm. Go into the thin path south of there and at the corner, you will find a hidden Ultra Ball. Head back north, then SE to find Brock.
Tester Brock: P600 and a Hard Stone
- Graveler Lv30: Tackle, Defense Curl, Rock Throw
- Onix Lv30: Tackle, Bind, Rock Tomb
This is the second of two testers. Make sure you battle him. Keep going east and SE to head out.

The first and most startling thing to see here is a giant black void in the middle. It's supposed to be a giant hole, according to some officers here, but you can't go in. The Force lady is here talking about a scientist on Mt. Superior. Enter the NE building and talk to the lady to hear she's an undercover agent. She gives you HM04 Strength, and oddly this also gives you the fourth badge for some reason. You can also just filch TM46 Thief from the table, nobody here minds. The woman here by the way mentions that Mew was sighted south of Lanos City. This is north of here, but you can't go that way, so detour to the east.

Second to last room from the left has TM31 Brick Break. Leftmost room has the Nurse Joy. Enter the kitchen to see some shocked cooks looking at what appears to be Brendan enjoying pasta. There's berries in the bins to the east. This guy isn't Brendan, but rather a tester named Big Fudge. By saying yes to his cookie question, you will battle.
Tester Big Fudge: P800, a Lava Cookie, and a Lucky Egg
- Vaporeon Lv40: Water Gun, Sand-Attack, Aurora Beam, Bite
- Jolteon Lv40: Shock Wave, Double Kick, Quick Attack, Pin Missile
- Flareon Lv40: Ember, Bite, Quick Attack, Smog
A tough fight, but as he is the third tester, you must battle him. If you wish, since the boat won't be leaving at all in this hack, you can save him for much later. Head up to the next set of cabins but go west first.

Rival (rival): Pidgeotto Lv25, Growlithe Lv23, Exeggcute Lv22, Kadabra Lv20, Dratini Lv25, P900
Your rival tells you about what's going on but gets teleported away. Up the steps is the captain's room.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not save at all in the captain's room, or even access any of the menus while there! Somehow, you will warp into the captain's place, unable to leave at all! I even tried to walk through walls and the game even resets. You will want to prepare on the floor below instead of inside the captain's room, as you will have to battle him there.
Boss Keigo: Meowth Lv30, Meowth Lv30, Persian Lv32, P3200 and TM01 Focus Punch
At this point, you can safely access menus. I haven't tested saving inside the room, though. Leave and now head west, entering Icecap Islands next.

Go into the other cave and you should be able to access the rest of the floors. First floor has a Water Stone. Take the ladder nearest the stone as the other one on this floor will not lead anywhere. On the second floor, head down, then right and follow the path to the third floor. This is actually the final floor, with TM14 Blizzard, another Water Stone (leftmost rock) and Articuno Lv50. That ends this side trip. There are now two possible options. We can head west and east from Liolia now that we have Strength. We had a small detour west of Liolia, but let's head east this time.

The Fossil Research Lab is here for your fossils, and there's a hidden Max Ether south of the pen. The first guy should give you an Old Amber to resurrect Aerodactyl, but I didn't get this until postgame for some reason. All things considered, return to Liolia City and head west on Route 17, through the dark cave once again, and Route 18. When you are close to Eicle City's entrance, your rival stops you again.

The PokeCenter has a guy who gives you TM29 Psychic. The Force lady is outside the gym, mentioning Brock who you already battled. The Force ladies are actually the ones who give you the main locations of the testers in the game, in case you were wondering. A hidden PP Max is to the NW from the PokeCenter, under a ledge. We have both a cave and a gym here. Let's try the gym first, there's not a lot here other than some...bad symbolism. Go to the gym leader in the back.
Leader Courtney: Pikachu Lv40, Doduo Lv40, Slowpoke Lv40, Charmander Lv40, P4000
You don't get a badge for this, but you are told that she wants a cat to keep her company. Return to Liolia Town and talk to Meowth. Return to the Eicle gym and talk to Courtney who gives you TM02 Dragon Claw. Meowth mentions Big Fudge back on the S.S. Hathaway. Going back there, he doesn't say anything new.

That is the sixth tester done. The last item before the next cave entrance is a Full Restore. However, a psychic force pushes you away. What you need to do now is return to Lanos City and head south to Route A, which is a short route with a port. Head back to Lanos, but we'll go west to Bond Bridge next. You will need Cut for one item here.

The first item behind a cut tree is TM22 Solarbeam. The first person you meet tells you that you basically cannot Fly to other places while on Bond Bridge (but we really can't proceed too far, as you'll soon see). TM15 Hyper Beam is after the house (there's an abandoned Chansey inside, but it does nothing). A Max Repel is just behind TM15 inside a rock.

Bond Bridge connects to the Quad Core's domain. Of course, a Rocket grunt blocks the way. Now let's go south of Lanos to Route A. One fisherman trainer before the port.
Fisherman Ron: Seadra Lv35, P840
The port spits you out on Route B.

This area resembles Treasure Beach from the Sevii Islands, so it's possible to beachcomb and find some Ultra Balls or so. You still cannot fly anywhere, and more importantly, Mew is here. Mew will speak to you and join your party.
Return to Eicle City and put Mew in your party; you will need Mew in your party to remove the psychic barrier in the north cave so you can access the north entrance. In this Secret Path, go north and you'll fight your brother once again.

Another break from the brainwashing, your brother has a chance, and flees towards Mt. Superior. Head down.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Much like the S.S. Hathaway, a major game-breaking bug is present in this section. Spoiler alert, you will battle two battles back-to-back next, one of which is Giovanni at his strongest. The key to avoiding the game breaking is simple: don't lose either battle. If you wipe and return, the script for the battles will not play and you cannot proceed with the game. Save beforehand and gain levels if necessary to win both battles.
The SE tree in the room with four has an Iron. Next floor is our former boss, the female executive.
Team Rocket Executive: Arbok Lv33, Vileplume Lv35, Exeggutor Lv37, P1184
And then immediately you battle Giovanni, who has Mewtwo.
Boss Giovanni: P5000
- Rhyhorn Lv42: Take Down, Rock Blast, Scary Face, Earthquake
- Dugtrio Lv40: Slash, Sand Tomb, Mud Slap, Earthquake
- Nidoqueen Lv42: Body Slam, Double Kick, Poison Sting, Earthquake
- Nidoking Lv42: Thrash, Double Kick, Poison Sting, Earthquake
- Mewtwo Lv50: Confusion, Disable, Swift, Amnesia
Giovanni attempts to have Mewtwo mind control you after the battle, but calling Mewtwo a clone is a clear mistake, causing it to escape from Giovanni. Now leave and head back to Lanos and then Bond Bridge. As an aside, enter the house on Bond Bridge to see your bro, he congratulates you on the counter-mission and asks you to come back after defeating the Quad Core for something later. The gateway leads to Canyon Entrance (I also don't recall when, but by this point you have the sixth badge).

To the west is TM50 Overheat. The blocks to the north form a trophy of sorts. Head to the left side and NE to find a Lum Berry, then do the same thing on the right side, going NW to find a Max Elixir. You'll see the gym lea...I mean testers that you met along the way, and I believe that if you missed any of the testers (remember you have to talk to them to battle them), they won't be here and you could not proceed (one of the trainers from Canyon Entrance mentioned this). If you followed the guide, of course you met them all, so head north.

Again, the guard will not let you pass until you beat all eight testers.

The Quad Core is a glorified Elite Four, which of course means tough battles, but the main trainers don't adhere to a type usually (there are some exceptions though). First is Alexa, no major type specialty but she does have unevolved mons.
Quad Core Alexa: P4968
- Clefable Lv52: Sing, Doubleslap, Minimize, Metronome
- Bulbasaur Lv51: Sleep Powder, Razor Leaf, Synthesis, Solarbeam
- Pikachu Lv52: Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Slam, Light Screen
- Dugtrio Lv54: Magnitude, Earthquake, Slash, Dig
- Lapras Lv54: Confuse Ray, Ice Beam, Surf, Body Slam, holds Sitrus Berry
Next is Hariett, who actually has all Rock types and fossils (random note: I notice that the doors to each room are always open, however you still have to battle each member to proceed).
Quad Core Hariett: P5152
- Kabutops Lv51: Mega Drain, Sand-Attack, Metal Claw, Ancientpower
- Omastar Lv53: Bubblebeam, Spike Cannon, Ancientpower, Mud Shot
- Kabuto Lv53: Mega Drain, Metal Sound, Endure, Ancientpower
- Kabutops Lv54: Mega Drain, Sand-Attack, Metal Claw, Ancientpower
- Aerodactyl Lv56: Wing Attack, Supersonic, Ancientpower, Hyper Beam, holds Sitrus Berry
Up next is Marianne who is a Psychic user.

- Kadabra Lv54: Confusion, Disable, Psybeam, Future Sight
- Mr. Mime Lv53: Confusion, Doubleslap, Psybeam, Role Play
- Hypno Lv56: Hypnosis, Poison Gas, Psychic, Future Sight
- Alakazam Lv58: Confusion, Disable, Psychic, Recover, holds Sitrus Berry
"Gary is waiting in his normal slot". We have one more member left, and it's not Gary, but rather an old guy named FGH. Three Normal types here, but otherwise no real theme.
Quad Core FGH: P5520
- Gyarados Lv56: Hyper Beam, Dragon Rage, Twister, Bite
- Rhydon Lv54: Stomp, Earthquake, Megahorn, Rock Blast
- Kangaskhan Lv54: Comet Punch, Mega Punch, Dizzy Punch, Reversal
- Tauros Lv58: Horn Attack, Pursuit, Swagger, Thrash
- Snorlax Lv60: Hyper Beam, Rest, Snore, Block, holds Sitrus Berry
The Quad Core challenge is done! Yes, there is actually no champion battle or so, you'll just meet Big Fudge who enters you into the Hall of Fame.
THE ROOM - Postgame
This is where you end up. It's a rather odd place, and one of the people near the top mentions the PC (which has a messed-up sprite). Yes, you can use Fly to leave. The people here are clearly a reference to something, but I don't know what it is. When you are ready to leave, fly away and head back to the house on Bond Bridge. Talk to your brother, who will actually battle you champion-style.

The first sign says "You're waiting for a train". Take the first ladder you see to the second floor and the next sign you find says "A train that will take you far away". Pick up the Full Restore and continue to another ladder, taking you back to the first floor but closer to the water. Surf west, getting a Timer Ball as you do, then on the next platform, get the Amulet Coin before descending a ladder. Get the Ultra Ball, continue to another ladder back to the first floor (but further on), but take the SW steps to the water to get a Moon Stone before continuing on the SE steps. The next sign at the SW end says "You know where you hope this train will take you". Take the next ladder and follow the path, getting a PP Up and a sign saying "But you cannot be sure". Continue to the next first floor ladder, then take the next ladder to the north to arrive on the third floor. The sign says "But it doesn't matter, because we'll be together". Go east, getting an Ultra Ball before heading west. The central platform has a Max Revive. At the end of the path is, of course, Mewtwo Lv70, who will talk to you before battling.
Postgame Content
And as far as I know, that's it, more or less, for postgame stuff. I would like to point out that there doesn't seem to be anything else in terms of catching anything, you can however pick up additional fossils from Oilnar City's mayor house (assuming you talk to a scientist outside first). You then can go south of the Power Plant to the Fossil Research lab, talk to the first person you see, and get the Old Amber, and can resurrect the three fossil mons there. Aside from that, the only thing I can think of that is postgame is rematching the Quad Core, now they are stronger than before.

Note: What Big Fudge says post-battle is unfortunately not possible. You cannot catch all 151 Pokemon. It's only possible to get 149, there's only one Eevee in the game and you can evolve it once, no way to breed for another Eevee to get the other two Eeveelutions. However, everything else should be available, look through the guide to see which ones you may have missed.

And this is the conclusion of my walkthrough of Pokemon TDT. Hopefully this guide helped you get through this hack.
