About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Stigma Version is a FireRed ROM Hack with a strong focus on story, featuring a dark narrative inspired by creepypastas, glitches, and fan theories. Developed from 2013 and completed in Beta 1.6, this hack allows players to experience a full-length adventure across Kanto while battling the mysterious virus threatening the region.

The game includes custom maps, overworlds, and sprites, as well as Pokémon from multiple regions including Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova.

Story Overview

The game begins in Lavender Town, where a hooded man appears in Pokémon Tower. Shortly after, a virus spreads across Kanto, turning Trainers and Pokémon into mindless ghouls.

You, alongside your friends Selena and Erik, must uncover the source of the virus and thwart Team Nihilus’ sinister plan. Along the way, you will encounter:

  • The enigmatic scientist Lumos, searching for a cure.
  • Kanto’s Clergy and Great Sage Stephano, pursuing their own agendas.
  • Powerful Gym Leaders, familiar Pokémon characters like May, Dawn, Brendan, and Ethan.
