About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Odyssey is a story-driven dungeon crawler Pokémon ROM hack inspired by the Etrian Odyssey series, with additional thematic influence from narrative-heavy exploration games. While it uses Pokémon FireRed as its base, it fundamentally reimagines how a Pokémon game is structured.

Instead of Gyms, an Elite Four, or an evil team, Pokémon Odyssey focuses entirely on exploration, survival, party strategy, and storytelling. The game is built around navigating a massive multi-layered dungeon, completing quests, managing limited resources, and uncovering the secrets of a mysterious island.

No prior knowledge of Etrian Odyssey (or similar games) is required to enjoy Pokémon Odyssey.

Story Overview

In the middle of the sea lies a remote island dominated by a colossal structure known as the Yggdrasil Labyrinth. Adventurers from across the world are drawn to it, hoping to uncover legendary treasures or the remains of a forgotten civilization hidden deep within its depths.

You play as Nyx, a young adventurer who joins the guild of Talrega in hopes of uncovering the truth behind the Labyrinth and following in her sister’s footsteps. As Nyx ventures deeper, strange events begin to unfold, and the mysteries surrounding the Labyrinth—and the people connected to it—grow increasingly unsettling.

What begins as a journey of exploration quickly turns into something far more dangerous.
