About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Prism is a large-scale ROM hack originally created by Koolboyman and later continued by the RainbowDevs.
Set primarily in the brand-new Naljo region, Prism significantly expands the Generation II engine with new types, abilities, mechanics, regions, and side activities. It is widely considered one of the most ambitious GBC ROM hacks ever created, both in scope and technical depth.
The project famously received a cease & desist from Nintendo in December 2016, halting its original development. A leaked build (v0.91) surfaced shortly after. Since then, RainbowDevs have continued refining and expanding the hack, leading to the current 0.95 release line.
Story Overview
You play as Prism, the child of a famous Pokémon Trainer. After a landslide leaves you stranded in an unfamiliar land, you awaken in the industrial region of Naljo — a region driven by rapid development and questionable leadership.
After rescuing a lost Larvitar, you begin a journey that spans multiple regions. Along the way, you must collect 20 Gym Badges, uncover corruption, confront powerful forces shaping Naljo’s future, and restore balance to a fractured world.
The adventure eventually extends beyond Naljo, allowing travel to Rijon, Johto, Kanto, and Tunod — making this one of the most region-rich hacks on the GBC engine.
