About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Prism is a large-scale Pokémon Gold ROM hack for the Game Boy Color, developed by Koolboyman. It delivers a completely new Pokémon adventure with original regions, mechanics, types, and gameplay systems far beyond what the original Generation 2 engine offered.
Unlike traditional Pokémon games, Prism focuses heavily on exploration, side activities, crafting systems, and story depth, while still maintaining classic Pokémon gameplay. It is widely regarded as one of the most ambitious GBC Pokémon ROM hacks ever created.
Story Overview
You play as Prism, the son or daughter of Lance, the Champion of Johto. One day, while playing near your uncle’s mine cart, a freak accident sends you deep underground—eventually transporting you to the distant Naljo Region.
Naljo is a rapidly developing land driven by industrial ambition, where progress comes at a cost. After rescuing a lost Larvitar, you are drawn into Naljo’s growing corruption and must challenge its Gym Leaders while restoring balance to the region.
Later, the adventure expands into the Rijon Region, where a second major quest unfolds, tying together events from Pokémon Brown and the wider Prism universe.
