Gen 1 "Features" — Preserved As-Is

The following beloved quirks remain untouched:

  • Set damage moves ignore type matchups
  • Critical hits ignore all stat changes
  • Speed determines crit ratio and OHKO accuracy
  • Special stat covers both Special Attack and Special Defense
  • Binding moves fully immobilize the opponent
  • Swift and Bide hit targets that are mid-Dig or mid-Fly
  • Stat-boosting moves nullify status-inflicted stat drops
  • Every move has a 1/256 miss chance (except Swift, Faint Attack, and Magnet Bomb)
  • Hyper Beam does not recharge on a KO
  • Whirlwind and Roar do nothing in trainer battles
  • Leech Seed and burn damage multiply with Toxic
  • You cannot paralyze a Pokémon whose type matches the move used
  • The Trainer-Fly Glitch
  • The Badge Boost Glitch
  • Neutral hits on dual-typed Pokémon still show matchup text for one type
  • HP-based moves (Counter, Recover, Substitute, etc.) are completely broken
  • Entity sprites may spawn or pathfind into impossible locations
  • Freeze status is indefinite (definitely needs fixing…)
  • The Cinnabar East Shore reads arbitrary code as encounter data (which is now a whole different kind of broken)
  • TMs don't display move names

Miscellaneous Changes

  • All Pokémon made available in each version (rarity varies by version and route)
  • Every TM available for purchase at various Marts
  • Jynx's face has been changed
  • Focus Energy hopefully fixed
  • Move Deleter and Move Relearner added
