About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Sirius is one of the original ROM hacks developed by the anonymous Vega Development Team, the same creators who later became known for Pokémon Vega. Released alongside its counterpart version, Pokémon Altair, Sirius offers a challenging reimagining of Hoenn filled with original Pokémon species, expanded lore, custom content, and a lengthy post-game storyline.
This English version was fully translated by Dr. Akimbo, making the game accessible to a wider audience while preserving the original Japanese experience. Like Altair, Sirius takes place in a Hoenn region forever changed by a catastrophic meteor event. The disaster reshaped landscapes, caused widespread extinction among native Pokémon species, and introduced mysterious creatures known as Meteoric Pokémon.
The game follows the classic Pokémon progression formula but adds a significantly darker narrative, original characters, new Gym Leaders, custom moves, custom music, and a roster containing dozens of Fakemon. Sirius is particularly known for its challenging battles and extensive content beyond the Pokémon League.
The primary difference between Sirius and Altair lies in the wild Pokémon distribution, giving players access to different Pokémon depending on which version they choose.
Story Overview
Three years before the events of the game, Hoenn suffered a devastating meteor shower known as the Hoenn Catastrophe. The disaster transformed much of the region into wastelands, destroyed important landmarks such as the Battle Frontier, and dramatically altered local ecosystems. Many Pokémon species disappeared, while strange new creatures called Meteoric Pokémon began appearing across the region.
You begin your adventure after moving to Littleroot Town, where Professor Birch asks you to help document these newly discovered species by completing the Pokédex. Along the way, you meet several new characters, including April or Gordon, Billy, and the eccentric prankster Mosmero.
As you travel through Hoenn's Gym Challenge, you become caught between two opposing organizations. Team BH, led by Wallace, seeks to impose order on the world through absolute control, while Team WH, led by Steven, initially appears to oppose them.
The conflict escalates as both organizations pursue legendary Pokémon and powerful artifacts connected to the meteor disaster. Team BH succeeds in awakening Groudon through the use of an artificial Pokémon named Aldina, while Team WH later reveals its own sinister agenda by awakening Kyogre.
The truth eventually comes to light when it is revealed that both Wallace and Steven had fallen under the influence of Nemea, one of three powerful Meteoric Pokémon capable of controlling minds. Alongside Nemea, two other legendary Meteoric Pokémon—Lylapse and Ganimede—played major roles in the chaos that followed the Hoenn Catastrophe.
After defeating the Pokémon League and becoming Champion, the story continues with a substantial post-game adventure in Alto Mare, a city inspired by Pokémon Heroes. There, players uncover Aldina's tragic origins, explore the mysterious Sphere Ruins, encounter legendary Pokémon, and discover lore that directly connects to the future events of Pokémon Vega.
The post-game serves as much more than a bonus chapter, acting as a major continuation of the main storyline and expanding the game's world significantly.
