About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Gaia Version is a highly polished ROM hack created by Spherical Ice, built on the Pokémon FireRed engine. The game introduces an entirely new region called Orbtus and combines a strong narrative with modern Pokémon mechanics from later generations.
The hack features Pokémon from Generations 1 through 6, along with mechanics such as Mega Evolution, the Fairy type, and the physical/special split. Exploration plays a major role in the experience, with hidden grottos, secret temples, climbable walls, underwater areas, and several other features inspired by official Pokémon titles.
Known for its high level of polish and original content, Pokémon Gaia has been widely praised in the ROM hacking community and has won multiple awards for its gameplay, mapping, and story design.
Story Overview
The storied Orbtus region was once home to a prosperous ancient civilization. This society erected grand monuments to their gods and guardians, leaving behind temples, idols, and myths that still echo through the land. Their civilization ultimately fell to ruin after a catastrophic series of earthquakes, and time buried much of their legacy beneath stone and soil.
In the present day, Professor Redwood, a local archaeologist and Pokémon Professor, has detected a disturbing rise in seismic activity across Orbtus. Fearing that history may be repeating itself, he seeks help from a new generation of Pokémon Trainers—young adventurers from Celanto Town, a quiet seaside settlement located near mysterious totem poles and ancient ruins.
Alongside your rival and under Professor Redwood’s guidance, you’ll travel across Orbtus to uncover the truth behind the region’s instability. As ancient myths begin to surface and long-forgotten forces stir, the fate of the entire region may rest on your actions. Whether Orbtus survives—or is consumed once more by the earth—depends on you.
