Q: Why is the patching not working?
- Ensure you're using the correct patch for the Platinum ROM you've obtained.
- If using a dump from your own American cartridge, copies purchased near the original Platinum release should use the 3541 patch. Otherwise, the 4997 patch should work.
- Make sure you're applying the patch to a .nds file (128 MB). It shouldn't be compressed in a .zip or .7z file, and it definitely shouldn't be an .exe file!
- The patch should work without unchecking the "Checksum validation" option. If you force it through, it may freeze during battles.
- If you're using a Mac, try using MultiPatch (easy to find via Google), as Delta Patcher Lite may not work.
- Patching on mobile phones is unreliable. You can search for pre-patched ROMs or use a PC and then transfer the patched ROM to your phone.
Q: Why has my game frozen when trying to start the first rival battle?
- This likely means you've used the wrong ROM base. Try the patch for the other ROM base.
- If you forced the patch through by unchecking "Checksum validation," this could cause the freeze as well.
- Use the correct ROM base, and there's no need to uncheck "Checksum validation."
Q: How can I update my Renegade Platinum to a newer version?
- Save files are compatible between versions, so updating is possible.
- Emulators typically link the ROM name to the save file (e.g., RenegadePlatinum.nds would have a corresponding RenegadePlatinum.sav).
- Note: Save states will NOT work if you change the ROM version.
Export/Import Battery Saves (DeSmuME):

Q: Can I randomize Renegade Platinum?
- No, you cannot randomize this version using the Universal Pokémon Randomizer.
- The internal file locations have been expanded, which makes randomizing impossible.
- You can randomize manually by transplanting files from a randomised standard Platinum ROM. Check the RandomiseInstructions.txt file for details.
Q: Does the boost to the shiny rate affect the Poké Radar shiny patches?
- No, the Poké Radar uses its own RNG system to generate shiny patches, so the shiny rate change in the game doesn't impact this mechanic.
Q: Can I get <Pokémon name here> as a shiny?
- Yes, all Pokémon can be shiny, with the rate determined by the current version (1/512 with shiny boost, or 1/8192 without).
- To get shiny Pokémon from static encounters, you must soft reset. Save states won't work for this as they don't reroll the RNG.
Q: I'm seeing graphical distortion when walking in grass sometimes. Is this a bug?
- This is a known issue with the DeSmuME emulator, not the hack itself.
- The distortion is harmless and will disappear when the screen is refreshed.
- This problem also occurs with the original Platinum game.
Q: I finished the Galactic events in Eterna City and am now stuck. What do I do?

Easy to fix:

Difficult to fix:
- The Union Room lady on the top floor of the Pokémon Center has no text.
- Moonblast won't work if the user is affected by Heal Block.
- Evolving Wailmer to Wailord near a Regi room may disable the warp into the room until the map reloads.
- Gengar's mini sprite looks odd on the Pokétch.
- Some trainer names appear strange in double battles or Battle Frontier battles.
- Certain trainers, like Dawn or Lucas, give you $0 upon victory.
- The event with Rowan's briefcase may behave oddly after completing the Distortion World.
- Villa furniture for 50 wins in the Battleground is not awarded correctly.

Gauge Animation Cut:
This code will make HP bars drop instantly rather than gradually. The effect won’t be noticeable until the HP bars go below a certain value, so it might not be immediately apparent in the early stages of the game.
