About This ROM Hack
Pokémon FireRed Advanced is a dex-replacement hack of FireRed that introduces Pokémon from Generations I through VI, while keeping Kanto’s storyline largely intact. Unlike standard difficulty hacks, this ROM focuses on fun and creativity, making even traditionally weak Pokémon viable in battles through new typings, abilities, and gimmicks.
The hack also features reusable TMs and Move Tutors, updated HMs (including Flash), new moves such as Comet Shower, Current, and Swoop, and rematchable trainers to provide a fresh experience in a familiar region.
Story Overview
The story of FireRed Advanced largely follows the canonical Kanto adventure but with a more linear midgame progression. Players follow an intended order through key locations: SS Anne → Surge → Rock Tunnel → Pokémon Tower Rival → Erika → Game Corner → Pokémon Tower → Cycling Road → Routes 12–15 → Koga → Silph → Sabrina.
Sevii Islands were removed to streamline the game, while the overall goal remains to challenge the player with creative trainer battles, a fully expanded National Dex, and unique Pokémon abilities and movesets. The hack encourages players to experiment with all Pokémon, even unconventional choices like Unown, Furret, or Luvdisc.

- Complete Gen 1–6 Pokédex Replacement: All available Pokémon in the game are replaced with a curated Pokédex spanning Generations 1 through 6, completely changing team-building possibilities.

- Improved Kanto Progression Structure: The region is made more linear with an intended progression order, improving difficulty pacing and preventing sequence-breaking issues.
- Expanded Move and Item Systems: New moves such as Rock-type Overheat-style attacks and utility-based Flying and Water moves expand battle strategies and team synergy options.
- Reusable TMs and Move Tutors: Technical Machines and Move Tutors can be reused, allowing flexible team experimentation without resource punishment.
- Improved HM System: HMs are no longer restrictive or frustrating, improving overall exploration flow.
- Trainer Rematch System: Most trainers can be rebattled after initial encounters, improving grinding options and world interactivity.
- Expanded Pokémon Utility Philosophy: No Pokémon is meant to be ignored—every species has a purpose or niche, encouraging experimentation and full roster usage.
- Quality-of-Life Enhancements: Includes general usability improvements, streamlined progression systems, and reduced frustration mechanics.
