About This ROM Hack
Emerald Revisited is built around a clear philosophy: take the original Pokémon Emerald and make it smoother, less frustrating, and more complete—without turning it into a completely different game.
Unlike more ambitious hacks that introduce new regions or massive difficulty spikes, this project keeps things grounded. It adds modern conveniences like reusable TMs, updated shiny odds, and optional mechanics such as the Physical/Special split, but keeps everything optional so players can tailor the experience.
One of its standout additions is the inclusion of the Battle CD system from Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, bringing puzzle-like battle challenges into Emerald.
The project is still in an early release state, meaning features are present but subject to change, and player feedback is actively encouraged.
Key Features
- Complete 386 Pokédex: All Pokémon from Generations 1–3 are obtainable in a single playthrough, including Legendaries and Mythicals.
- Alternative Evolution Methods: Trade evolutions now have easier alternatives (e.g., linking cord), allowing full completion without trading.
- Modern Shiny Odds: Shiny rates are updated to 1/4096, matching modern Pokémon games.
- Battle CD System: Adds all 50 Battle CDs from Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness as puzzle-style battle challenges in the Battle Frontier.
- Hidden Abilities Integration: Pokémon are given Hidden Abilities and additional abilities not originally present in Gen 3.
- Optional Fairy Type: Players can enable or disable the Fairy type at any time from the options menu.
- Optional Physical/Special Split: Modern battle mechanics can be toggled on or off depending on player preference.
- RNG Fix Option: Fixes Emerald’s RNG by seeding it with real-time clock data instead of resetting predictably.
- DexNav Feature: Allows players to track and hunt Pokémon more effectively.
- Pokédex Plus: Expanded Pokédex functionality for better tracking and usability.
- Stat Editor: Lets players directly view or modify Pokémon stats for customization.
- Reusable TMs: TMs can be used multiple times, removing the need to conserve them.
- HM Quality of Life: Pokémon can use HM abilities as long as they are compatible, without needing to learn the move.
- Nature Mints: Change Pokémon natures easily, similar to modern games.
- Faster Battles: Improved pacing with quicker battle intros and smoother flow.
- Deluxe Safari Zone Mode: Optional mode where Pokémon do not flee, making captures easier.
