About This ROM Hack

This QoL patch is designed to modernize Pokémon Emerald without changing its core identity. Unlike overhaul hacks, this project intentionally avoids altering battle mechanics, stats, or game balance.

The goal is simple: remove outdated frustrations while preserving the original Generation 3 experience. Everything from battles to progression remains faithful to vanilla Emerald, but with smoother systems, less grinding, and more accessibility.

If you're looking for a “cleaned-up” version of Emerald rather than a completely new experience, this is exactly that.

Key Features

  • Vanilla Battle System Preservation: The game keeps original Generation 3 mechanics intact—no physical/special split, no stat changes, no new types, and no altered formulas.
  • EXP All Toggle System: The EXP Share functions as a toggleable EXP All, allowing you to switch between classic single-Pokémon EXP and full-party experience gain.
  • Indoor Running: Running Shoes now work indoors, including buildings, caves, Gyms, and Pokémon Centers.
  • Toggleable Bike Mechanic: You can dismount your bike instantly by holding A + B, removing the need to open the bag.
  • Ruby/Sapphire Exclusives Available: Version-exclusive Pokémon are now obtainable in their original locations without altering world design.
  • Event Legendary Access: After beating the Elite Four, Norman provides tickets to access event islands and obtain Pokémon like Mew, Deoxys, Lugia, and Ho-Oh.
  • Trade Evolution Replacement: Evol Stone replaces trade requirements, allowing Pokémon like Kadabra and Haunter to evolve without link trading.
  • Clamperl Evolution Rework: Clamperl evolves using Water Stone (Huntail) or Evol Stone (Gorebyss), removing trade item requirements.
  • Milotic Evolution Simplified: Feebas evolves into Milotic at Level 36, eliminating the Beauty stat system.
  • IV/EV Editing Menu: Built-in system to directly modify IVs and EVs, removing the need for grinding.
  • Poké Ball Reassignment: Change a Pokémon’s Poké Ball outside battle for cosmetic customization.
  • Infinite TM Usage: TMs can be reused infinitely, removing one-time limitations.
  • Forgettable HM Moves: HM moves can be deleted like normal moves, removing the need for HM slaves.
  • Quick Repel System: Automatically prompts you to reuse Repels when they expire.
  • Wild Starter Encounters: Starters like Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip can be found in the wild (rare encounters).
  • Fossil System Improvement: Both fossils can be obtained in a single playthrough after the Elite Four.
  • Secret Jirachi Encounter: A hidden, undocumented encounter encourages exploration.
