About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Emerald 20 is a vanilla+ ROM hack made for Emerald's 20th anniversary to celebrate the game’s legacy and introduce new elements. The hack’s development was driven by two goals: familiarizing the developer with decompilation and creating a personal appreciation project for the Pokémon franchise. The final version will introduce two brand new types—Aural and Astral—and will feature a shift to physical Dragon-type moves, along with more options for double battles and challenging content inspired by Pokémon Colosseum and XD. The hack also introduces quality-of-life updates inspired by later Generations while keeping the game’s original feel intact. The ROM hack remains in an early playable form, and bug fixes will be applied leading up to the full release.
