About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Project Nova is a difficulty-focused FireRed enhancement hack that combines modern battle mechanics, quality-of-life upgrades, and custom content. It introduces new species (“Nova Species”), Fairy typing, the Physical/Special split, harder trainers, and entirely reworked maps.
While it retains Kanto as a foundation, the game significantly diverges from vanilla FireRed with new story elements, extra rival battles, altered progression tools, and original locations. Beta 2.0 currently covers gameplay up to the 5th Gym Badge.
Story Overview
Project Nova moves away from being a simple enhancement and introduces:
- A new storyline instead of strictly following vanilla FireRed
- New characters
- Additional rival encounters
- Reworked regional structure with original areas
The narrative is still partially incomplete due to the beta state, but the project clearly aims to reshape the traditional Kanto journey into a more challenging and modern experience.
