About This ROM Hack
Fire Red Extended aims to transform the original Kanto journey into a much larger and more feature-rich adventure.
The hack introduces Pokémon from Kanto all the way to Paldea, including regional forms and various species variations. Maps across the region have been redesigned with new layouts, connections, and tilesets, giving many familiar locations a fresh look.
Several brand-new gameplay systems were created exclusively for this project, including Dynamic Machines, Wormholes, Fossil excavation mechanics, and expanded field moves.
In addition, the project continues to receive updates, with features such as the Sevii Islands expansion still under development in upcoming versions.
Story Overview
The main story follows the classic journey of Pokémon FireRed, where the player begins their adventure in Pallet Town and receives their first Pokémon from Professor Oak.
However, Fire Red Extended expands the scale of the journey significantly. New mechanics and exploration features allow players to encounter Pokémon from many generations, search for fossils in multiple locations, and even travel through wormholes to deep space to encounter legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beasts.
The final challenge has also been expanded beyond the traditional Elite Four format, turning the Pokémon League into a massive gauntlet featuring trainers representing every Pokémon type.
