Wild Pokémon — General Notes

No shaking grass will appear until after the first badge has been obtained.

"Special" refers to the rare spots. "Doubles" refers to tall grass where double battles can occur. Unless otherwise stated, fishing encounters have not been edited.

You won't be able to get all 649 in the wild alone, but evolution will make it possible. You get enough evolution stones during the course of the game for everybody, so don't fret.

Several sections contain a Legendary Encounter. The legendary is a normal wild Pokémon, just very rare. The total encounter chance may technically exceed 100% — the Pokémon whose chance is reduced as a result is usually the last one in the list, so a 10% might become 8%, a 5% might become 4%, and so on.

There are a couple of differences between Blaze Black and Volt White. Blaze Black finds Zekrom, Thundurus, pink Shellos/Gastrodon, and Red Basculin. Volt White instead finds Reshiram, Tornadus, blue Shellos/Gastrodon, and Blue Basculin. The opposite legendary of each version is still catchable in its regular location.

Liberty Garden

Legendary Encounter — Victini, Lv. 20 Liberty Tower Basement There are no wild Pokémon here as usual, but this is the only place to catch Victini.

How to access Victini: You will need your .sav file. If you are using a flashcard (R4, Acekard, etc.), your .sav should be readily available. DeSmuME users should use Export Backup Memory under the File menu, which exports your .dsv as a .sav. No$gba users will need to use the savegames converter on the .sav in their BATTERY folder.

Load your .sav with the Pokémon Mystery Gift Editor (by Grovyle91, included in the patch download). You will also need the Liberty Ticket .pgf file, also included. Open the editor, click Import PGF, select the Liberty Ticket file, then hit Save. Flashcard users can do this directly on the storage device. DeSmuME users should then use Import Backup Memory to bring the edited .sav back in and reset the ROM. No$gba users can slot the .sav into the BATTERY folder and it will convert automatically on boot.

With the Wonder Card saved, visit any Pokémon Center and talk to the man on the right. You'll receive the Liberty Ticket, which lets you board the ship at the far left port of Castelia City. The trainer levels are sufficient to catch Victini right when you first reach the city.
