Breeding Changes

The day-care has been mostly updated to modern standards, but with an improved Egg move transfer
system that’s less grindy and much less restrictive. This document provides a brief explanation of what
that means, but note that it is NOT a breeding guide; there are plenty of those available on the internet
if you need one.

IV Inheritance

Works as it does in USUM:
  • By default, three random IVs are passed down from the parent mons.
  • If one Parent holds a Destiny Knot, five random IVs will be passed down instead.
  • Hyper-trained IVs CAN be passed down, a big difference from the official games. This is because
  • Hyper Training in the hack actually changes your Pokémon’s IVs.
  • Power Items DO NOT work. Just use the Destiny Knot instead.

Nature Inheritance

Works as it does in USUM:
  • If one parent holds an Everstone, they always pass down their nature.
  • If both parents hold an Everstone, the offspring’s nature is chosen randomly from either parent.

Ability Inheritance

Works as it does in USUM:
  • Female mons have an 80% chance to pass down their regular ability.
  • Female mons have a 60% chance to pass down their hidden ability.
  • Male mons have a 60% chance to pass down their hidden ability if bred with Ditto.

Move Inheritance

Works as it does in USUM:
  • If both parents know the same level up move, this will be passed down.
  • Both parents can pass down egg moves.
  • TM/HM moves are not passed down.
  • If there are more than four moves that can be passed down, they’ll be prioritised in this order:
  • mother’s egg moves > father’s egg moves > level up moves.

Poké Ball Inheritance

Works as it does in USUM:
  • Female mons will pass their Poké Ball down to their offspring
  • If both parents are the same species, there’s an equal chance of either ball being passed down
  • Any mon bred with a Ditto will pass down its ball
  • Cherish Balls and Master Balls can’t be passed down

Incenses

Incense items all work as they do in the official games.

Regional Forms

Regional forms (e.g. Alolan Sandshrew) will always produce more regional form eggs.

Shinies

Breeding currently does not increase the shiny chance.

Egg Move Transfer

This system from Sword and Shield has been simplified. You can now pass moves between any Pokémon
in the same Egg Group. The same species is not required, but the recipient of the move must have an
empty move slot!
Example: You have a Mamoswine and want to get Icicle Crash on it. Swinub can breed with a Beartic
that knows Icicle Crash to make Swinub eggs that know Icicle Crash. To get Icicle Crash on your
Mamoswine, do the following:
  • Get a Beartic that knows Icicle Crash
  • Take Mamoswine to the Move Deleter and delete a move so that it has an empty move slot
  • Put the Beartic and Mamoswine in the day-care
  • Take them back from the day-care (no need to wait)
  • Mamoswine will now know Icicle Crash

Day-Care Experience

Pokémon no longer gain EXP in the day-care. This prevents egg moves from being forgotten while
breeding, which is useful as they can’t be remembered once forgotten (though this feature may be
added in future versions).
