Story

The game starts in Soltree Town in the player's room. The player is sitting in front of his/her computer and is awaiting a reply to see if they have been accepted to be a Pokémon Trainer. Your mother comes in and tells you to go visit your best friend, Rodney, who is waiting for you at the computer in his house for the same reason. When you talk to him, he gets a reply that says he's been accepted as a Pokémon Trainer. He suggests that you go back to check your computer to see if you've gotten a reply to be accepted as a Pokémon Trainer; you check the computer and you find out you've gotten a reply saying that you've been accepted as a Pokémon Trainer, allowing you to get a Starter from Prof. Pinewood. You walk to the lab with Rodney and the Professor lets you choose one of three Pokemon: Herovor, Purrlit, or Salatad. After choosing your starter, Rodney runs out of the lab. The Professor tells you about a young girl named Keira, who is getting the last Pokémon, but it seems that she has forgotten it. Right as you step outside the Lab, Rodney decides to Battle you for the first Battle with him and the first in the game. After the Battle, you head west to Route 1, and then south to reach the Town Keira is in. After finding Keira in Mossy Town, her mother tells you to go back to your house, because your mother has a gift for you. Back in Soltree Town, you receive the PokéCom and the Running Shoes from your parents.

From that point onward, the player will set off on adventures through the Rikoto region. Along the way, the player, Rodney, and Keira will battle eight Gym Leaders, while trying to complete the Pokédex. Also, a third Rival, Rick, battles the Player every so often; he's not so nice to you, Rodney, or Keira. After managing to obtain all eight Badges, the player will eventually head through the Victory Isle to the Pokémon League to battle the Elite Four and the Champion.
