About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Nameless Version is a large-scale story-driven ROM hack developed as both a prequel to Pokémon Mega Power and a direct sequel to Pokémon Resolute. While it connects directly to those titles, it also stands strongly on its own with a deep narrative, multiple regions, modern mechanics, and a semi–open world design.

Players take the role of Chronya, a young hero whose journey is shaped by political conflict, betrayal, and fate. The hack focuses heavily on player freedom, allowing you to decide when to advance the main storyline, when to explore, and when to challenge major events.

With Pokémon ranging from Generation 4 to Generation 9, real Mega Evolution mechanics, no traditional Gyms or League structure, and an in-game guide system, Pokémon Nameless Version is designed to feel closer to a modern Pokémon RPG while still running on the GBA engine.

Story Overview

Twelve years ago, Altena, the general of the Valo Empire, was forced to flee her homeland with her daughter Chronya. The reasons were never explained to Chronya — only that her father lived in the distant Cyenn Region, and that seeking his help was their only hope.

Before they could reach safety, they were attacked by the Dark Workers, agents of the Valo Emperor who sought to erase Altena forever. Altena fell into their trap, and with no other choice, Chronya leapt into the ocean to escape.

She was saved by a young agent named Gavin, who entrusted Chronya with his Pokémon to protect her. From that moment on, Chronya’s journey began — a journey that would span multiple regions, uncover ancient powers, and determine the fate of nations.

Key Features

  • Multiple Regions: The game spans the Cyenn Region, Western Tyron Region, Sevii Islands, and the Lande Region, offering a large and diverse world to explore.
  • Expanded Pokédex: Pokémon from Generation IV through Generation IX are available, greatly expanding team-building options.
  • Real Mega Evolution System: A fully implemented Mega Evolution system is present, with a special exception tied to Chronya’s starter Pokémon.
  • Battle Arenas Instead of Gyms: Traditional Gym Leaders are replaced by Battle Arenas, offering a different progression and challenge structure.
  • Tournament-Based League: The Cyenn Region does not have a Pokémon League; instead, players participate in a tournament that can be challenged at a time of their choosing.
  • Player-Controlled Progression: You decide when to challenge the Cyenn Tournament and when to advance the main storyline, allowing for flexible pacing.
  • Skills Replace HMs: Field traversal uses Skills rather than HM moves, reducing team restrictions and encouraging exploration.
  • Semi–Open World Design: After the Shedir Town event, the game opens up significantly, letting players choose their path.
  • Black/White Repel System: A modern Repel mechanic similar to later-generation Pokémon games is implemented.
  • In-Game Guide System (Think): Chronya can “talk to herself,” providing hints on where to go next if the player feels lost.
  • Difficulty Modes: Two modes are available—Normal Mode and Dynamic Mode—allowing players to tailor challenge levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is this hack/game for?
A: Pokémon Nameless Version is best suited for players who enjoy story-heavy Pokémon games, expanded regions, and non-linear progression with modern mechanics.

Q: Is the game fully complete?
A: Yes, the main story and all major content are complete, though bug-fix updates are still released.

A: No traditional Gyms or League exist in Cyenn Region; Battle Arenas and a tournament system replace them.

Q: What is Dynamic Mode?

A: Mega Evolutions play a significant role in battles and story progression, with many custom Mega forms available.
