Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Light is a starter-focused ROM hack for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky inspired by the Japan-exclusive WiiWare title Go For It! Light Adventure Squad. Instead of altering the story or gameplay mechanics, the hack refreshes the adventure by replacing the original playable starters with Pokémon based on the Light Adventure Squad roster while introducing several additional choices inspired by Pokémon found as wild encounters in the WiiWare games.
Designed as one of three companion starter hacks alongside Explorers of Fire and Explorers of Sea, this version offers a different selection of playable Pokémon while preserving the core Mystery Dungeon experience. The creator also removed the gender restrictions for the Adventure Squad starter Pokémon, making them available to both male and female player characters. - Playing as Cubone, Machop, or Psyduck causes those Pokémon to use portraits and animations carried over from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team, as unused Rescue Team assets still exist within Explorers of Sky.
- Cubone, Machop, and Psyduck may display unusual or humorous animations during certain Guild scenes.
- Rescue compatibility with Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky is expected to function correctly, although the creator welcomes reports if problems are encountered.
