About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sea is a starter-focused ROM hack for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, inspired by the Japan-exclusive WiiWare title Let's Go! Stormy Adventure Squad. Instead of redesigning the game's story or gameplay systems, the hack refreshes the experience by replacing the default playable starter roster with Pokémon based on the Stormy Adventure Squad lineup, while also introducing several additional starter choices inspired by Pokémon found in that game's wild encounters.
The creator designed the hack for players who have already experienced Explorers of Sky and want a different way to replay the adventure without changing its core mechanics. To improve player freedom, all Adventure Squad starter Pokémon are available for both genders, while the original gender-exclusive starters and partner Pokémon from Explorers of Sky remain untouched.
One small adjustment from the WiiWare version is that Wynaut and Azurill were replaced by Kirlia and Marill, as the creator felt the original two Pokémon were too weak to serve as enjoyable Mystery Dungeon starters.

Known Bugs & Issues
The creator lists the following known limitations:
- Pokémon that were not originally playable starters may use standard walking animations for actions such as eating, sleeping, or other situations where unique animations do not exist.
- Newly added starter Pokémon generally use their default portrait for all dialogue and emotional expressions throughout the game.
- Playing as Cubone, Machop, or Psyduck uses leftover portraits and animations from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team, since Explorers of Sky still contains unused Rescue Team assets.
- Cubone, Machop, and Psyduck may display unusual or humorous animations during Guild scenes.
- Rescue compatibility with Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky should function normally, although the creator requests player feedback if any issues are encountered.
