INTRODUCTION & YELLOW TOWN {#introduction}

As with any other Pokémon game, you are introduced to the world of Pokémon by a Professor. You choose the option to be a boy/girl, then choose your name. You will be unable to choose the names of your many rivals, however.

To start the game, you are in a dream. You are standing amidst legendary Pokémon: Arceus is surrounded by Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia. They seem to be taking turns hitting Arceus. Eventually, Arceus disappears and you wake up. Head down the stairs, but before you can, your mom will tell you to set your clock. Head out outside and you will be confronted by Kaori, the champion of the Zhery League. He asks you to come with him to Central City, flying on his Salamance.

When you reach Central City, Kaori leads you to Professor Jasmine and Ash Ketchum. There is a tablet in some sort of hole. Jasmine asks you to read translate since you know the ancient language called Alpha. After reading it, Jasmine wants to make sure no one (evil) can get their hands on it. Kaori summons Empoleon and fills the hole with water. Kaori and Ash will leave when suddenly a Team Steam grunt attacks Jasmine. She asks you to pick a Pokémon from the bag:

After the confrontation, Jasmine will allow you to keep the Pokémon you just fought with. Nickname him/her, and then she will take you back to her lab in Yellow Town. Jasmine wants you to talk to Professor Oak who is at Marfeny Lake, which is to the east of Central City. Talk to her for one last time, and she will give you some Pokeballs.

Yellow Town Freebies:

Elekid at the top room of Lab (use stairs); if you say no, the pokeball containing Elekid will disappear.
Thunderstone - talk to boy in the house on the South-West of town.
Max Potion - talk to girl in South-West of town.

Not much to do here. Stock up on some antidotes for later on. Visit the Safari Zone and catch Pokémon from the Marsh, Field, Ice, and Desert zones.

Walk east and you will find Professor Oak talking to Kenta about Feebas. Kenta, excited, catches one Feebas. The other Feebas attacks Oak! You intervene and fight the Feebas [lvl 3]. You can either defeat it or catch it. It is recommended you catch it and use the water stone you find at the bottom of the beach. Head back to Yellow Town to relay the message from Oak to Jasmine.

Go into the Lab, and Oak will show up as well. After a short text, Oak will go back to Central City and go to the Radio Tower. Follow him!

Go to the top floor, then go all the way to your left, you will see Oak talking to Kenta again. Talk to Oak, and he will give you and Kenta a National Dex.

Freebies:

Gen II Starters: Chikorita, Totodile, or Cyndaquil - after Kenta leaves, talk to Oak. He will offer you one Pokémon at a time. Simply deny him and talk to him again for another choice.

Go North and you will see the Gym Leader of Inhore City - Jessica. She will tell you there is something wrong wit the Combee in the woods. Her Vespiqueen will then proceed to cut the little trees blocking the way. Now you are able to enter Inhore Woods.

There will be an angry hive of Combee, ignore that for now since they keep blocking you out. Continue trekking through the woods until you finally come out and reach Inhore City.

Inhore City (Part 1)

You will see a bunch of Combee blocking every single entrance to a building except the Pokémon Center. Jessica will give a quick synopsis of what's happening - the angry Combee are coming from the hive and she wants to investigate. Follow her back into the woods and go to the Combee Hive.

There will be Team Steam grunts lined up in the hive, ready to take you on.

HM01 - Cut - defeat Red when he challenges you before going into the Gym.
Running shoes - after beating the gym, go North out of the city and the man will give you running shoes.

Trade: The man inside the bottom-right house will want a Spinarak for a Scyther (it will evolve into a Scizor since it is holding a Metal Coat when he trades with you).

Now that the Gym's open, why don't you give it a go? As you walk in, Red walks out, boasting that he beat Jessica. He chooses to battle you.

As you walk up to the entrance, you see that the whole city is on fire. Walk up to Red and Ash, and they will tell you the plan. Gyrados will put out the fires, and Red will give you the Team Steam uniform. You must defeat Team Steam who is occupying the Botanical Building. Use the Team Steam uniform to get into the building and defeat Team Steam! Heal up at the Pkmn Center first, it will take a little long.

Right as you finish your snowy trek, Kaori will come up to you and talk about Team Steam. He wants you to find their HQ, and defeat them. Their base is easy to find, just keep surfing south. (Surf all the way south and you will land on a small beach. Follow that path and you will reach Drakebreath City, home of the last Gym. Heal up, buy some supplies at the big Pokemall, and get back to Steam HQ).

Master Ball Glitch: There happens to be a glitch where you can get as many Master Balls as you want. Of course, Master Balls make catching legendaries/shinies easier, but there isn't much fun in that. Try catching legendaries with different Poke Balls. Now, if you don't have that adventurous spirit in you, here's the Master Ball glitch:

The Master Ball is located in the bottom-left tree on the top floor (where you fight the two admins.)
Press A on the plant. You will receive the Master Ball.
Take two steps up, and press Start.
Go down and press A on the plant again. You will receive another Master Ball.
Keep repeating steps 2-4 until you have the desired amount of Master Balls.

DRAKEBREATH CITY & MT. DRAKEN

HM07 Waterfall - go to the mall and talk to Red (he is near the elevator) once you have beaten the Gym Leader.

The Gym and Mt. Draken (the cave near the Gym) are both closed. Take the tablet and deliver it to Professor Jasmine. Fly to Yellow Town!

Once you give her the tablet, she will tell you a story about the legendaries. Once she is done, fly back to Drakebreath City and enter Mt. Draken.

Once finished, you will be transported back to Mt. Draken. Kaori will tell you that Team Steam got away again, but you can now go to the Gym. Head out, heal your Pokémon, and challenge the Gym!

Get up, and you will see Solana blocking the way to Victory Road. She states that Lunick wants to fight, so head over to Solana's house. Talk to Lunick, then battle!

You then proceed to wake up in your room back in Yellow Town. Your Mom congratulates you. Head over to Professor Jasmine's lab. She will give you the Lauren Pass, which allows you to now travel to the Lauren League. Jasmine states that she has a friend by the name of Professor Ellie who shall be waiting for your arrival. Fly to Seanport City and go to the port. Talk to the Sailor in front of the boat. He will then bring you to Suner Town in the Lauren Region.
