About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Sun Sky is a FireRed ROM hack that blends classic Kanto gameplay with modern Pokémon features from later generations. It introduces mechanics like Mega Evolution and Z-Moves while expanding the game world to include both Kanto and Alola regions, along with Pokémon up to Generation 7. It is a feature-heavy ROM hack that aims to bring modern Pokémon mechanics into a GBA environment. It mixes elements from multiple generations, including regional forms, Ultra Beasts, and newer battle systems. As the developer’s first project, the hack focuses more on content quantity and variety rather than polish. Players can expect a large number of Pokémon, new story elements, and familiar characters from Alola, but also some rough edges and bugs.
Story Overview
The story takes place about 15 years after the era of Red.
You play as Red’s son, living in Pallet Town in the Kanto region. However, Red has mysteriously disappeared and does not play a major role in the story.
Kanto itself has changed significantly over time. Professor Oak is no longer active, and Brock has taken his place as the region’s Pokémon Professor, marking a major shift in the world.
As you begin your journey, you quickly discover that unusual Pokémon—ones not found in the traditional Kanto Pokédex—are appearing. This leads you into a larger adventure that eventually connects Kanto with the Alola region, where new allies like Lillie and other characters appear.
Along the way, you will encounter powerful forces, including a new boss connected to Team Rainbow Rocket, as well as mysterious Pokémon like Meltan.
Your journey spans across regions, blending old and new Pokémon worlds into a single adventure.
