About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Resolute Version is a large-scale FireRed ROM hack that delivers a full-length adventure across multiple regions, combining a traditional Pokémon journey with modern gameplay mechanics and an expanded storyline.

What sets this hack apart is its scope. Instead of focusing on a single region, it spans three regions—Sylon, Tyron, and Johto—creating a much longer and more varied experience. Alongside this, the game integrates mechanics from later generations, such as Mega Evolution and updated battle systems, making it feel closer to modern Pokémon titles while still using a GBA engine.

The hack has gone through many revisions, with version 2.97 representing a polished and stable release. Major systems like EXP Share, movepools, and battle mechanics have been reworked to align more closely with newer-generation Pokémon standards.

Story Overview

In Pokémon Resolute, you begin your journey as either Logan (boy) or Alma (girl), a young trainer from Cedar City in the Sylon Region. Professor Avery assigns you to record data on every Pokémon you encounter as part of a broader research project. Together with your best friend, Elijah, you set out toward Solar City to meet with the professor.

On the way, you unexpectedly encounter the Team Mirage — a villainous organization previously active in the Tyron Region before disbanding. Now reformed, the members claim they wish to assist humanity, but their motives are unclear. As rumors about their “reform” continue, you must explore the entire Sylon region, uncover secrets, and determine whether the group’s intentions are genuine or sinister.

The journey progresses through all three regions — Sylon, Tyron, and Johto — allowing the player to encounter varied gym leaders, story arcs, and regions that tie together in a sprawling adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Pokémon Resolute Version?
A: It is a FireRed-based ROM hack featuring three regions, an expanded story, and modern Pokémon mechanics.

Q: Who is this hack/game for?
A: It is ideal for players looking for a long, story-driven Pokémon experience with multiple regions and modern features.

Q: How many regions are included?
A: There are three regions:
  • Sylon Region – Main region for the story.
  • Tyron Region – Home of the revived Team Mirage and side quests.
  • Johto Region – Fully playable post-story area for additional gyms, events, and Pokémon.

Q: Are Pokémon from later generations available?
A: Yes. The hack includes Pokémon from Gen 1–Gen 7, including about 33 Gen 6 Pokémon and 5 Gen 7 Pokémon. Many Pokémon have updated movepools and new evolutions, while Mega Evolutions are also implemented.

Q: How does Mega Evolution work in this hack?
A: Mega Evolutions are available for many fully evolved Pokémon. They function like in official Pokémon games, with some mechanics adjusted for GBA limitations. Mega Stones or key items are usually required to trigger evolution during battle.

Q: How does the Exp. Share system work?
A: The Exp. Share works like in Generation 6, distributing experience to all Pokémon in your party. It can be turned on or off via a key item, giving flexibility for training strategies.

Q: How can I encounter shiny Pokémon?
A: The hack added a shiny mechanic similar to later Pokémon games. Encounter rates are rare but consistent with standard Pokémon rules. Some events or special distributions may also guarantee shiny Pokémon.

Q: Are all HMs and TMs usable?
A: Yes. HMs include Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, Taiyouken, Rock Smash, and Waterfall. Some Pokémon can use HMs that were not available in the original GBA games, like Aqua for Surf. TMs are reusable in most cases, and Pokémon movepools have been rebalanced for utility.

Q: Is Johto fully playable?
A: Yes. The entire Johto region has been integrated into the map. Players can challenge Johto gyms, capture region-specific Pokémon, and complete side quests, including the Battle Department.

Q: Are there story-related events or side quests?
A: Absolutely. Key story events include:
  • Encounters with Team Mirage.
  • Capture and interactions with legendary Pokémon (like Heatran, Lugia, Ho-oh).
  • Mega Evolution-related events and special battles.
  • Exploration of hidden areas with rare items or Pokémon.

Q: Is there a competitive or battle-focused feature?
A: Yes. The Battle Department allows trainers to battle in competitive formats with special rules. Some Pokémon have adjusted stats or movepools to ensure balance in these encounters.
