About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Mega Power is an ambitious and highly detailed fan-made ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed, set in the vibrant Ivara Region and surrounding areas. The hack revolves around the theme of Mega Evolution, introducing players to a world where Pokémon can evolve beyond their limits, unlocking new forms and powers that reshape battles and the storyline itself.

Unlike the base FireRed game, Mega Power adds three fully explorable regions: Ivara, Lande, and the Sevii Islands, each packed with unique towns, gyms, routes, and secrets. The regions are carefully designed to reward exploration, from hidden items to challenging trainers and legendary Pokémon events.

The hack is notable for its story-driven gameplay, in which you follow Neil or Tyra, a genius scientist who has created Mewtwo. Players witness the moral and scientific dilemmas of attempting to push Pokémon evolution to its extreme, all while encountering Team Delta, a secretive and morally ambiguous organization. The story balances suspense, mystery, and action, with key plot events triggering as you progress through gyms, leagues, and side quests.

Story Overview

Neil (or Tyra), a gifted scientist from the Ivara Region, successfully creates Mewtwo. Yet, driven by ambition, Neil/Tyra seeks to enhance Mewtwo further by allowing it to Mega Evolve without a Mega Stone. Lacking the resources, Neil/Tyra’s plans are stalled—until a businessman named Kasper appears, offering the help of Team Delta, a secretive organization. Forced to join, Neil/Tyra must question Kasper’s true motives and decide whether to trust him while discovering the power of Mega Evolution and its impact on the future.
