About This ROM Hack

Pokemon Fluvio is a custom Pokémon Emerald decompilation ROM hack set in the original Viridis Region, a landscape heavily inspired by the Netherlands, its geography, canals, polders, architecture, and culture. Rather than revisiting an existing Pokémon region, the game offers a completely new adventure where exploration, community involvement, and environmental storytelling play major roles.

You begin your journey as a Pokémon field researcher, documenting regional Pokémon while assisting local communities and progressing through the regional Gym Challenge. However, the peaceful waterways of Viridis hide a growing threat. A mysterious group known as the Levellers is beginning to interfere with the region's carefully managed water systems, placing both its people and environment in danger.

Built using the pokeemerald-expansion framework, Pokemon Fluvio incorporates numerous modern Pokémon mechanics alongside custom graphics, a quest system, following Pokémon, extensive quality-of-life improvements, and original regional features. The current Beta v0.1.9 offers approximately 10 hours of gameplay covering the first half of the adventure.

Story Overview

The adventure begins in the water-rich Viridis Region, where you take on the role of a Pokémon field researcher tasked with studying local wildlife, helping residents, and gradually climbing through the ranks of the regional Gym Challenge.

As you explore the region's towns, canals, and countryside, strange events begin unfolding. A mysterious organization known as the Levellers has started operating behind the scenes, threatening the delicate balance of Viridis' extensive water management systems.

While uncovering the group's motives, you travel across the region, solve local problems, complete quests, and investigate increasingly suspicious activity. The current beta concludes after the first half of the story, setting the stage for the conflict that will continue in future releases.
