About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Retro Platinum is an ambitious work-in-progress project that aims to recreate Pokémon Platinum as faithfully as possible on Game Boy Advance hardware. Rather than being a simple remake or reinterpretation, the goal is to build a true demake that captures the original Sinnoh experience within the limitations and style of the GBA era.
Developed by blloop, the project is also intended to serve as an open-source foundation for future Sinnoh-based ROM hacks. This means that beyond recreating Platinum itself, Retro Platinum is being built with expansion and modification in mind, allowing other developers to use it as a starting point for their own Sinnoh adventures.
At its current stage, the project remains in active development and is classified as a demo. While the full Platinum storyline is not yet available, a significant portion of the opening game has already been recreated, including major locations, story events, and progression up to the first Gym Badge.
Because the project focuses on accuracy and preservation, players can expect a familiar Sinnoh experience rather than extensive gameplay overhauls or custom storylines.
Story Overview
Pokémon Retro Platinum follows the storyline of the original Pokémon Platinum.
You begin your journey in the Sinnoh region, setting out alongside your rival and becoming involved in Professor Rowan's research into Pokémon. As in the Nintendo DS original, the adventure revolves around exploring Sinnoh, collecting Gym Badges, battling Team Galactic, and uncovering the mysteries surrounding legendary Pokémon and the Distortion World.
At the current stage of development, the available content covers the opening portion of the game and progresses through the storyline leading up to the first Gym Badge.
Since this is a demo release, the complete Platinum storyline has not yet been fully implemented.
