Pokemon TWO (The Wooloo & Obstagoon) is a short, puzzle-driven Pokémon ROM hack inspired by the classic fable “The Wolves and the Sheep.” Instead of the usual Pokémon journey of collecting badges and building a large team, this hack emphasizes storytelling, puzzle-solving, and a unique gameplay mechanic where players switch roles between two opposing sides.

Shahar created the hack as a competition entry for Team Aqua’s ROM Hacking Competition 2. It is designed to be a compact but polished experience. Most players will finish it in about 20 minutes to 2.5 hours, depending on how quickly they solve puzzles and how familiar they are with the mechanics.

Rather than focusing on traditional battles, the game highlights logic puzzles and narrative symbolism. It tells a cautionary tale about trust, deception, and consequences.

Story Overview

In a peaceful pasture in the Galar region, a flock of Wooloo lives quiet and happy lives. They spend their days grazing in open fields, protected by loyal guardian Pokémon like Zigzagoon, Houndour, and the powerful Arcanine.

However, danger lurks nearby. A group of Obstagoon watches from the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment.

Instead of attacking directly, the Obstagoon approach the Wooloo with clever words:

“Why is there so much tension between us? If not for those overprotective guardians, we could all live together peacefully as friends.”

The Wooloo, trusting and naïve, believes these promises. They decide to send their guardians away, thinking peace has finally arrived.

But that night, the Obstagoon revealed their true intentions.

The wolves feast, and the pasture falls silent.

This story serves as a moral fable about betrayal and misplaced trust, echoing the timeless warning: do not abandon your allies for those who pretend to be your friends.
