About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Remember Red is a work-in-progress ROM hack created by retronc. The current demo version v0.2.0, released on March 12, 2026, only covers the game up to the Pewter City Gym.
The project is built around a unique concept: recreating the original Kanto adventure not by referencing the original game files, but by rebuilding everything from memory.
Instead of copying layouts, scripts, or data directly, every element of the game — including maps, Pokémon data, and dialogue — is reconstructed manually based on what the developer remembers. This means locations, NPCs, and even Pokémon stats may differ from the original versions.
The current demo includes a small selection of Pokémon and covers only the early part of the adventure. As development continues, more areas and Pokémon may be added.
Because of its unusual design philosophy, the hack offers a slightly distorted or alternate version of the familiar Kanto experience.
