About This ROM Hack

This is a lightweight enhancement of Pokémon Emerald that keeps the core game almost entirely unchanged, but adds a major twist right at the beginning: instead of the usual three starters, you get a pool of 30 different Pokémon to choose from.

Outside of that, the experience stays very close to vanilla Emerald. There are no major story changes, graphical overhauls, or difficulty tweaks mentioned. The main goal here is replay value—giving players more variety and freedom in how they start their Hoenn journey.

To make things smoother in single-player, trade evolutions are also handled through a new item called the Link Stone, removing the need for actual trading.

Key Features

  • 30 Starter Pokémon: Instead of the standard Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, you can choose from a large selection of 30 Pokémon spanning multiple generations, including fan favorites like Eevee, Dratini, Larvitar, and Beldum.
  • Vanilla Gameplay Experience: The game remains mostly unchanged in terms of mechanics, difficulty, and progression, making it feel like a true Emerald playthrough with added variety.
  • Link Stone (Trade Evolution Replacement): Trade evolutions are now possible in singleplayer using the Link Stone item, removing the need for external trading.
  • Accessible Link Stone Locations: The Link Stone can be obtained from Scott after defeating your rival in Lilycove and later purchased at the Battle Frontier.
  • Starter Moveset Adjustments: Some weaker starters are slightly improved to make early gameplay smoother (e.g., Abra and Ralts start with Confusion, Cubone with Bone Club).
  • Multiplayer Compatibility: The hack remains compatible with vanilla Generation 3 multiplayer features, meaning you can still link with other GBA Pokémon games.
  • Technical Simplicity: No major engine or system overhauls are introduced, keeping the hack stable and close to the original game’s structure.

Known Bugs & Issues

  • There are no specific bugs or issues reported for this version.
  • However, since detailed testing information is not provided, there may be minor or undocumented issues. Overall, given its minimal changes, stability is likely similar to vanilla Emerald.
