About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Autumn Red is a difficulty-focused reimagining of FireRed designed primarily with Nuzlocke players in mind—but it doesn’t force you into that playstyle. You can approach it as a standard challenge run if you prefer.
The hack sits somewhere between Renegade Platinum and Emerald Kaizo in terms of difficulty, offering a tough but (mostly) fair experience. It modernizes battle mechanics while also stripping away systems like EVs to create a more controlled and skill-based environment.
The core FireRed story remains intact. However, progression has been altered to increase difficulty and pacing. Key events are now required in a stricter order, such as completing the Rocket Hideout before Celadon Gym and Silph Co. before taking on Saffron Gym. Certain areas are also locked until later points in the story, forcing a more structured and challenging progression path.
The available information is detailed regarding gameplay changes, though some aspects, like full post-game content, are currently unfinished or not yet implemented.
