About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Solus is a near-vanilla enhancement ROM hack of Pokémon Red/Blue designed around one core idea: you should be able to do everything completely solo.
In the original games, completing the Pokédex required trading with another cartridge. Solus removes that limitation by introducing fully in-game methods for obtaining all 151 Pokémon, while still staying as close as possible to the original “canon” experience.
Rather than drastically changing gameplay, it carefully adds features that feel like they could have existed in the original games, such as in-game trading systems, improved learnsets, and subtle UI upgrades. The result is a version of Gen 1 that feels familiar—but far more complete and convenient.
Key Features
- All 151 Pokémon Obtainable: Every Gen 1 Pokémon can be acquired in-game via wild encounters, gifts, overworld interactions, fossils, purchases, or new evolution methods.
- In-Game Trade System: Link trades are replaced with an in-game Trader NPC, allowing trade evolutions and version-exclusives to be handled solo.
- HM Field Slot System: HMs can be used by party Pokémon without occupying a regular move slot, improving team flexibility.
- New TM Additions: Four additional TMs support forward-patched learnsets and expanded movepools.
- Forward-Patched Learnsets: Some learnsets are updated using Pokémon Yellow and Gen 2 tradeback inspiration, giving Pokémon more modern move access.
