About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Re: Universe is a story-driven FireRed ROM hack created by Aeon961, marking their first ROM hacking project. Built on the familiar Kanto region, the game introduces new areas, side quests, and expanded mechanics while keeping the original foundation recognizable.

This hack aims to blend classic Pokémon gameplay with modern-style features, such as improved battle AI and unique mechanics like “Implent Res” (a custom Mega Evolution system). At the same time, it enhances exploration by allowing players to soar through the sky and dive underwater, adding verticality rarely seen in FireRed-based hacks.

While still in beta, the project shows clear ambition in delivering a more immersive and dynamic Kanto experience, with additional content layered on top of the original game rather than replacing it entirely.

Story Overview

Kanto was once a peaceful region, safeguarded by legendary trainers. Five years ago, the original champion defeated Team Rocket, restoring order.

Now, Team Rocket has returned, stronger, more dangerous, and with a secret plan that threatens all of Kanto. You play as Red, the undefeated Champion, who must rise again to confront the new threat and protect the Pokémon world. Along the way, you’ll explore new locations, encounter side quests, and battle both familiar and new foes.
