About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Rekindled Red is a modernized and heavily expanded reinterpretation of Drayano’s classic FireRed Omega difficulty hack. Built using FRLG-Plus as a foundation, this project aims to bring FireRed Omega up to modern ROM hacking standards by adding new systems, expanded content, and deeper gameplay improvements.

While the original FireRed Omega already enhanced trainers and wild encounters, Rekindled Red goes further by introducing new story elements, expanded exploration, modern quality-of-life systems, and redesigned gameplay structure, making it feel like a fully upgraded version of Kanto rather than just a rebalance.

The hack is heavily inspired by later Drayano-style improvements seen in projects like Pokémon Renegade Platinum, focusing on challenge, accessibility, and content depth simultaneously.

Story Overview

The core journey through Kanto remains familiar, but Pokémon Rekindled Red introduces new lore elements, narrative events, and mysteries woven throughout the region. Legendary Pokémon are no longer static encounters; instead, each Legendary features a unique, story-driven event designed specifically for this hack.

The Sevii Islands have been significantly expanded with new locations, secrets, and challenges, encouraging exploration beyond the traditional FireRed experience. Additional puzzles, riddles, and hidden areas further enrich the world, making Kanto and its surrounding islands feel more alive and interconnected than ever before.
