Released in 2009 by Pokémon ROM hacker Drayano, Pokémon FireRed Omega was an early difficulty-focused modification of FireRed. It reworked Trainer and wild Pokémon battles in Generation 3 Kanto and made all Pokémon from the first three generations obtainable, encouraging more varied team building.

Due to its age, FireRed Omega includes a few modern features beyond battle changes. Later hacks by Drayano, such as Renegade Platinum, introduced additional content and quality-of-life improvements that FireRed Omega does not have.

Pokémon Rekindled Red was created as a modernized update to FireRed Omega, built on Deokishisu’s FRLG-Plus, to update the original experience while keeping its core concept intact.
