This hack is designed to give the opportunity to Nuzlocke or otherwise play through a game with only Pokemon that are not very good. This is supposed to add an element of challenge as well as make it possible to experience the game with more unique Pokemon!
The Pokedex was handpicked by the creator. The philosophy of the design focused on distributing encounters to the player based on the viability of a Pokemon. Each and every Pokemon within Generation 3's National Dex was discussed and debated upon whether or not they were to be included within the stream of the creator.
The only changes made were to wild Pokemon and static encounters as well as adding NPCs that restrict access to certain areas. The reasoning behind this is to get as close to "Beating Pokemon Emerald with only bad Pokemon" as possible.
The game is optimized for the Nuzlocke challenge and that is in my opinion the most fun way to play it. That being said feel free to enjoy the game in whatever way you like. The balance is also made with the fact in mind that trade evolutions are unavailable, that's why Onix, Machoke and Haunter are in the game.
Of course the list of available encounters and all other content is subject to change. If you have any constructive criticism or feedback or notice any bugs feel free to post in the forum threads or the discord.
Changes
- Replaced the starters with Slugma, Sunkern and Goldeen
- Added an NPC to Mauville City to block the player from entering the Casino. This is to restrict access to TMs
- Added NPCs in front of the daycare to prevent the player from breeding
- Replaced the Wynaut Egg in Lavaridge City with an Unown Egg
- Added an NPC to the Mirage Tower to block the player from getting the Claw Fossil
- Replaced the Castform gift in the Weather Institute with an Unown
- Replaced the static Kecleons on Routes 119 and 120 with Unowns
- Replaced Electrodes in Aqua Hideout with Unowns
- Replaced Rayquaza at the top of Spear Pillar with an Unown
- Replaced the Titan trio with Unowns
Pokemon Availability Organised by Pokemon
- All fishing encounters are changed to Luvdisc
- All static Kecleon/gift/Rock Smash encounters are changed to Unown
- If not further specified, Surf encounters are either; Surski, Masquerain, Wingull or Pelipper
- Non-Surf encounter rates are always spread as evenly as possible
- 34/34/32% in the case of 3 Pokemon within an area
- Surf encounters are 60/30/10 in the order listed
