About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Crystal Awakening is a visual and gameplay overhaul of Pokémon Crystal built on the pokecrystal disassembly. Its primary goal is to reimagine the Johto and Kanto regions with a Game Boy Color Zelda aesthetic, specifically inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, with additional visual cues taken from the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons games.

While the core story progression remains unchanged, nearly every area has been redesigned to feel fresh, atmospheric, and cohesive with the Zelda-inspired art direction.

Story Overview

Pokémon Crystal Awakening follows the original Pokémon Crystal storyline, set across Johto and Kanto. Players experience the same journey, characters, and major events as the base game.

However, the world itself feels entirely new due to redesigned maps, restored content, improved pacing, and expanded postgame areas — offering a refreshed way to experience a classic adventure.
