About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Core Crystal is a fan‑made ROM hack of Pokémon Crystal built on the pokecrystal disassembly (inspired by Crystal Legacy). Created by a long‑time fan of Generation II and heavily influenced by Crystal Legacy, this hack aims to polish, modernize, and expand the classic Crystal gameplay while preserving its nostalgic feel.
The creator designed Core Crystal to be a refined and enjoyable Pokémon Crystal experience with quality‑of‑life improvements, expanded content, and gameplay enhancements. While originally a personal project, it grew into a release that the developer believes many Pokémon fans will enjoy.
Core Crystal draws from multiple community projects, including:
- pokecrystal / PRET (Pokémon Reverse Engineering Tools)
- Crystal Legacy
- Polished Crystal
- Sprite resources from Blue Emerald, Chamber, Neslug, Pikachu25, and others
Special thanks also go to the original creators of Crystal and the many contributors who made reverse engineering and disassembly possible.
