About This ROM Hack
Pokémon World Zoala is a FireRed-based ROM hack set in a custom region called Zoala, created by U-Hacks. The project represents an early-stage attempt to build a full Pokémon-style adventure with new towns, modified routes, and unique starter choices based on Eeveelutions.
The hack is structured in multiple alpha versions (Alpha 1.0 through 1.7), showing gradual progression of content such as new cities, gyms, and route expansion. Later updates attempt to expand the project into a “generation-style” structure with additional content labeled as separate phases rather than traditional version updates.
A notable aspect of the hack is its transition into a “hack-of-a-hack” concept, where Pokémon World Zoala expands from Pokémon Zoala Version 0.1.7 into a new generation called ET Unaloa.
Because this is an early and evolving project, several mechanics, maps, and scripts are still unstable or incomplete.
Story Overview
You start as a 10-year-old boy from Zoa Town. Like most Pokémon trainers, you receive your first Pokémon from Professor Oak and begin your journey through the Zoala region.
Along the way you meet various characters, including the author’s representation (“U-Hacks”) and others as you progress town by town. The current alpha focuses on the beginning stages of this adventure, featuring early exploration, trainer battles, and basic regional challenges.
As of alpha 1.7, progression reaches up to Waster Path — a route that connects to further undisclosed regions.
