About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Untitled Unova Game is a fan-made ROM hack developed by Azure Keys, built on the PokeCrystal disassembly engine. Unlike traditional GBA FireRed hacks, this project recreates the Unova region inside a Gen 2-style engine while incorporating modern mechanics from later generations, creating a hybrid experience between retro structure and modern Pokémon systems.

The hack acts as an unofficial sequel to Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, taking place several years after those events. It reimagines Unova with a new storyline, updated traversal structure, and expanded gameplay systems. Despite using a GBC-style base, the design incorporates mechanics from Generation 5 and partial Generation 6 systems, making it a unique technical blend of eras.

As a demo project, the game is released in chapters, with each version expanding playable content and refining balance and systems based on feedback.

Story Overview

The story is set in the Unova region several years after the events of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The world has evolved, and a new narrative begins that builds upon the legacy of the original Unova storyline.

Players explore a restructured version of Unova with new plot developments, updated traversal flow, and expanded dungeon-style areas. Instead of a direct remake, the game presents a new interpretation of Unova’s post-sequel timeline, with new conflicts and progression systems.

As the player advances through Gyms and key story areas, they encounter new dungeon-type locations and expanded route design, with Demo 3 extending progression up to 6 Gym Leaders and multiple major story zones.

The game also introduces a new communication and system layer through the X-Transceiver, adding more modern interaction mechanics within the retro engine structure.

Overall, the story focuses on a new era of Unova following B2/W2, blending sequel storytelling with expanded gameplay progression.
