Pokémon Turquoise is a beta-stage FireRed ROM hack created with a strong focus on new storytelling elements, expanded maps, and original Pokémon concepts (Florem Pokédex / Fakemon content). The hack introduces a reworked adventure set in a region called Florem, with new characters, new enemies, and redesigned progression pacing.
The experience blends familiar Pokémon structure with custom story writing, altered world-building, and experimental gameplay features like underwater exploration returning to the series design space. While still clearly built on FireRed’s foundation, the hack pushes toward a more custom-designed world with its own identity.

Story Overview
The story begins with a dramatic twist involving GIOVANNI, who regrets leaving TEAM ROCKET under the control of MARIO, believing things are spiraling out of control in the region of FLOREM. He urgently attempts to return to fix the situation, setting a broader conflict in motion.
Meanwhile, the player character wakes up in their hometown and receives their long-awaited PokéTicket, finally allowing them to begin their Pokémon journey. Their mother encourages them to visit Prof. Mango’s lab, located unusually close in the same town.
Shortly after leaving home, the player is informed of mysterious Pokémon cries near Harmony River, west of Tripletwig Town, suggesting that something unusual is already affecting the region early in the journey.
This setup creates a dual-layer narrative: a traditional Pokémon journey combined with a larger criminal/organizational conflict involving Team Rocket’s unstable leadership and unknown regional disturbances.
