About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Perfect Emerald is a pure enhancement (“perfected vanilla”) ROM hack designed for players who want to experience Pokémon Emerald exactly as they remember it — without fakemon, without new moves, without altered tilesets or music, and without breaking Generation III’s identity.
The goal of this hack is to make Pokémon Emerald feel complete and modernized, allowing players to finish the full National Pokédex without trading, access Nintendo event legendaries, and enjoy dozens of quality-of-life improvements, all while preserving the original atmosphere, balance, and visual style of vanilla Emerald.
If you want the definitive Emerald experience, not a reimagining, this hack is built specifically for you.
Story Overview
Pokémon Perfect Emerald follows the original Pokémon Emerald storyline set in the Hoenn region. You begin your journey as a young Trainer, challenge the Hoenn Gym Leaders, confront Team Magma and Team Aqua, and ultimately face the Elite Four and Champion.
While the main story is unchanged, the post-game is significantly expanded, featuring restored Nintendo-style legendary events, additional encounters, Mirage Island access after the Elite Four, and appearances by iconic Trainers such as Red and Leaf from FireRed and LeafGreen.
Key Features
- All 386 Pokémon Available: Every Pokémon from Generations I–III can be obtained in a single save file without trading.
- Strict Vanilla Philosophy: No new Pokémon, no new moves, no new tilesets, and no music changes — the original Emerald identity is fully preserved.
- Legendary Pokémon as Fixed Encounters: Legendary Pokémon are not found randomly in the wild; each appears once in specific locations, mirroring official Nintendo design.
- Gen 4 Physical/Special Split: Attacks use the modern physical/special system by default, with an optional patch included to revert to classic Gen 3 mechanics.
- Starter Pokémon via Eggs: Kanto, Hoenn, and Johto starters are obtained as unique eggs placed around the world and given by NPCs, one per save file.
- BW2 Repel System: Repels behave like Black & White 2, preventing encounters with lower-level Pokémon instead of fully blocking encounters.
- Reusable TMs and Move Tutors: All TMs and Move Tutors can be reused infinitely.
- Post-Game Expansion: Numerous new events unlock after defeating the Elite Four, including Mirage Island access.
- Nintendo-Style Event Legendaries: Event Pokémon such as Deoxys are fully implemented with in-game story events rather than simple giveaways.
- All Deoxys Forms Available: Players can change Deoxys’ forms in-game, making all four variations accessible.
- Improved Evolution Methods: All trade evolutions are replaced with item-based methods using Link Stones and other logical items.
- Prism Scale Added: Feebas can evolve into Milotic using Prism Scale while still retaining the original Beauty-based method.
- Improved AI: Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, Rivals, and Team Magma/Aqua bosses use smarter AI and stronger healing items.
- TCG-Inspired Enemy Teams: Team Magma and Aqua teams are based on Pokémon Trading Card Game themes while remaining faithful to canon.
- Nature-Based Stat Coloring: Stats affected by natures are color-coded (red for boosted, blue for lowered) with physical/special icons.
- Running Indoors: Running Shoes work inside buildings.
- Bug Fixes: Major glitches such as the Pomeg glitch and PRNG issues have been fixed.
