About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Orange Generation is a FireRed-based ROM hack built around the idea of reimagining the Orange Islands arc with expanded content and a multi-stage development plan.
The project originally started as a revamp of an older Orange Islands hack, but gradually evolved into something bigger, including plans for:
- A full remake of the original Orange Islands experience
- A continuation storyline beyond the original hack
- A potential third phase involving Sevii Islands redesigned as a new region
The hack focuses more on expanding structure and exploration rather than changing core Pokémon gameplay systems. However, development has been unstable at points, with the creator mentioning lost files and incomplete assets, which affects consistency and progress.
Despite that, the concept remains one of the more ambitious Orange Islands interpretations from its era.
Story Overview
You wake up one morning to discover that Professor Ivy is looking for you. After arriving at her laboratory, she surprises you with your very first Pokémon. However, you soon realize you are not alone—Professor Oak’s grandson has recently moved in with Professor Ivy and becomes your rival.
After your first battle, your journey begins across the Orange Islands, where you explore new locations, meet the Orange Crew, and uncover story elements unique to this region. As development progresses, the story will extend beyond the Orange Islands into an entirely new region, continuing the adventure beyond what the original hack ever achieved.
