About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Moon is an ambitious FireRed-based ROM hack that attempts to recreate the Alola region experience from Pokémon Sun and Moon within the technical limitations of the GBA engine.
Unlike most Alola-themed hacks built on Pokémon Emerald, this project takes a different direction by rebuilding the experience on FireRed, giving it a distinct structure and progression style.
Even in its demo stage, the hack already introduces key elements of the Alola experience, including regional Pokémon forms, Generation 7 species, and an island-based adventure structure.
The goal is to deliver a full-scale Alola remake that preserves the spirit of the original games while adapting it into a classic GBA format.
Key Features
- Alola Region Recreation: The game takes place in the Alola Region, replacing Kanto with new locations inspired by Pokémon Sun and Moon.
- Alola Pokémon: Generation 7 Pokémon are implemented and obtainable within the demo content.
- Alola Forms: Regional Alola Forms are included, bringing altered typings and designs to classic Pokémon.
- Alola Starters: Players can choose from the iconic Alola starter trio—Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.
- Mega Evolution Support: Mega Evolution mechanics inspired by the X/Y/Z era are implemented.
- Alola-Based Storyline: The narrative is designed around Alola’s themes rather than the original FireRed plot.
Known Bugs & Issues
- The hack is demo-only, meaning large portions of the region and story are unfinished.
