About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Mega Evolution is a completed Pokémon FireRed ROM hack focused on bringing modern-generation mechanics, visuals, and Pokémon content into the classic GBA format. The hack significantly expands the original game by adding Pokémon up to Generation 7, Mega Evolutions, Alola Forms, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

While the main storyline remains based on Pokémon FireRed, the overall gameplay experience is heavily modernized. Updated graphics, battle systems, UI elements, and mechanics inspired by later generations aim to make the game feel closer to a Nintendo DS-era Pokémon title while retaining FireRed’s structure.

Story Overview

The story follows the traditional Pokémon FireRed adventure in the Kanto region. Players begin their journey as a Pokémon Trainer, challenge Gym Leaders, confront Team Rocket, and ultimately aim to defeat the Elite Four and Champion.

Although the core narrative is unchanged, the presence of Mega Evolutions, Legendary Pokémon encounters, and modern mechanics significantly alters how battles and progression feel throughout the game.
