About This ROM Hack

Pokémon FireRed 807 Randomized is a randomized GBA ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed created by J‑Steven. Unlike traditional hacks that add story or progression changes, this version randomizes many aspects of the game, including Pokémon encounters, types, and battles, while keeping the original FireRed world intact. It also expands the playable roster to include Pokémon from Generations 1 through 7 along with Mega Evolution options, providing unpredictable and varied playthroughs.

This hack is designed for players who want to replay FireRed with a fresh experience where you never know what Pokémon you’ll encounter or how battles will play out — focusing on replayability and challenge rather than story changes.

Story Overview

The game follows the classic Pokémon FireRed storyline set in Kanto:

  • You begin in Pallet Town as a new trainer with a randomized team and encounters.
  • The core plot — challenging Gym Leaders, thwarting Team Rocket, and becoming Champion — remains unchanged.
  • However, virtually all Pokémon encounters, trainer lineups, and item distributions are randomized, making each playthrough unpredictable and unique.

The focus is on randomized progression rather than narrative expansion, turning the familiar Kanto journey into a dynamic experience where exploration and battling feel new every time.

Key Features

  • Full Randomization: Wild Pokémon, trainer teams, and possibly other game elements are randomized for unpredictable gameplay.
  • Expanded Roster: Pokémon from Generations I–VII are available in the randomized pool.
  • Mega Evolution Included: Mega Evolution mechanics are integrated, allowing older and newer Pokémon to evolve in battle.
  • New Graphics (Optional): Some versions include updated visuals to support Generation 7 content.
  • Randomized Experience: Encounters and battle outcomes differ every playthrough, adding replay value to FireRed.

Known Bugs & Issues

  • Because it is a randomizer, imbalance can occur — trainers may have unexpected strength spikes.
  • Some items or Pokémon placements may not scale well with difficulty due to random placement.
  • Randomization does not affect the core FireRed mapping or major story scripts.
  • Not all versions of this hack are compatible with every emulator without setting the correct save type (e.g., Flash 128K).
